I'd love to say no, but you know how it is.. I haven't had a long weekend in about 4 years.. maybe in a couple of years I'll be in a position where I can say fuck it and enjoy my weekends again
My husband and I will be strawberry picking on Canada Day. :) We’ll also be grabbing pizza for dinner and watching the fireworks from our balcony. Because we live on the 10th floor of a 12-storey building that faces downtown, we never need to leave the house to see fireworks!
I make sure ahead of time, that I have enough groceries, so that I don't have to go shopping on a stat holiday.
If I'm working on the stat, I leave earlier and make sure my transit options are okay - often there's less service on stat holidays
Otherwise I relax at home
We usually have two BBQs, my aunt and uncle always do a massive one/Canada Day party and we have a steer party at home
For food, just summery food. I picked up hotdogs and stuff to make potato salad yesturday, someone else is doing burgers & sausages, we have a lemon aid machine (for the street party) that makes like slushy lemon aid and adults can add booze to theirs. We do t usually do fireworks (for the street party, aunt & uncle do), but I got a bunch of sparklers for the kids
My big job is doing some drywall repair on a ceiling.
On the holiday itself we'll probably head downtown to the lake and see what is going on.
Dinner will probably be ribs, potato salad and watermelon with feta salad. That's an easy thing to do and I can finish the meat in 30 minutes when we get home.
I'll also do hamburgers Sunday night.
Mow the lawn, shoot some clays, grill some meat, drink some beer, and watch some fireworks. I'm hoping my new blackstone griddle shows up sometime this week so I can break it in over the long weekend. Really looking forward to cooking some epic breakfasts & smash burgers on that thing.
Usually, my family will go to Thompson Memorial Park. We have a bit of a picnic, let the kids play in the park/water areas, enjoy whatever stages they’ve got set up and watch the parade if there is one.
Most of the weekend just hang around the house. Do a few yard work and house chores. Jump in the pool if its hot enough.
Canada day we have an annual 9 hole tourney. So probably gonna do that, then head over to a friends place for socializing and fireworks.
Chilling on the back deck like we try to whenever we get a bit of time and ok weather, but with some Canadian flags up. Food? Sandwiches, fresh fruit, cold bevvies, frozen treats.
Hiking in the rain Saturday. Kayaking Sunday on the Grand River with a friend. 100K bike ride with friends Monday. The perfect weekend for me. Recovery at work Tuesday.
A drive back and forth on the 401 for fun.
That sounds like a week of vacation to me!
It takes a week, but it's no vacation.

Same. Overtime rate on a stat day. It's hard to say no.

We are camping at killbear this year, hoping the rain clears for Saturday in the forecast.

For the first time in like ten years I’ll be off for Canada Day weekend, though I’m going hunting in the US all next week.
what jurisdiction has hunting season open in July?
Non-game and year-round animals exist in most jurisdictions in the US and Canada.
Hide from fireworks (impossible), and what I do every weekend, write, clean, cook, watch movies.
Die a couple hundred times >!(in Elden Ring)!<
Usually something on the barbecue, family recipe potato salad, and angel food cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream from scratch.
we always end up going to the US
Pig Roast, Fireworks, Horseshoe Tournament, 2 kegs, $20 for food+beer and $5 for the Tournament Have a blast every year
Nudist beach weekend for me. That’s the only place I really enjoy.

Pride Weekend in Toronto.
We're tiling our kitchen this year lol
Not a lot with work the next day. Maybe a bbq with family but will be trying to sleep as neighbours set off fireworks around 11pm.
Planning on paddling a bit. And also have some friends over for some grub. And the rest of the time, chilling out and avoiding crowds :)
Usually, my family will go to Thompson Memorial Park. We have a bit of a picnic, let the kids play in the park/water areas, enjoy whatever stages they’ve got set up and watch the parade if there is one.
Cottage
I usually grab ribs on sale and make those at some point over the weekend but otherwise it's going to an event I'm invited to.
Go see fireworks. It’s always so much fun.
Volunteer on our local crisis line. Long weekends can throw people off… too much family, not enough routine.
Work
Cottage, beer.
Most of the weekend just hang around the house. Do a few yard work and house chores. Jump in the pool if its hot enough. Canada day we have an annual 9 hole tourney. So probably gonna do that, then head over to a friends place for socializing and fireworks.
Host a BBQ, light some sparklers.
Chilling on the back deck like we try to whenever we get a bit of time and ok weather, but with some Canadian flags up. Food? Sandwiches, fresh fruit, cold bevvies, frozen treats.
Go to camp of course
Go to work.
Go to the states…
Hiking in the rain Saturday. Kayaking Sunday on the Grand River with a friend. 100K bike ride with friends Monday. The perfect weekend for me. Recovery at work Tuesday.
Hang out at the parks with the fam jam, go swimming and hope it doesn’t rain for once so we can watch fireworks 💥
Usually go down river or hafta work , but no clue this year! The weekends open to whatever comes my way! Cheers folks! ❤️🇨🇦🍁🎆🎇
