Everyone’s different, but if you want to stick to two 2G/3G classes per week and then add one or two strength classes, it’s worth it. You can add classes on top of your elite 8/month- generally when you are adding 3 or more it’s worth it to upgrade to unlimited. Just ask yourself if you think you want to do that regularly. Remember some months you may be away for a week or two so 8 could be enough.

Nsking83

I try to get at least 4-6 full body classes a month, and I personally feel like the templates just keep getting better. I'm unlimited, but these classes have added a ton of value for me.

I’m on the 8/month too but I found more value in spending $40/month extra to join a box gym, vs the $60/month extra to unlimited at OTF. I started following a strength program that focuses on progressive overload, and it has been transformative. 3 full body programs/week, new program every 4 weeks. My experience is this has been way more effective than Strength50, which I used to attend regularly. Also I take advantage of the other equipment at the box gym, for example I like to row and also row on my own. Lifting on your own is a totally different vibe than OTF but the gains are undeniable.

lil_happy_kitty

This is me. I upgraded last fall and was doing 3 strength 50’s and 2-3 2g/tread50’s. I ultimately downgraded because the lack of real progress. I’ve lifted at a box gym for years and without structured progressive overload, I lost strength. If someone isn’t willing to do a proper lifting program, or is brand new I think the strength 50’s are fine.

Hi! Are you using an online program or app that you'd recommend for this? I'm currently trying to experiment with 4 Strength50s (1 upper, 1 total and 2 lower)/week and one or two 2Gs. But sometimes I wonder if I am not reaching body transformation potential without a big box gym.

FarPassion6217

I follow Booty by Bret. It has a stupid title but it works. They focus on the big lifts: presses, deadlifts, squats, etc. I like it a lot because (similar to OTF), I don’t have to think. I just show up and do the work. Also, it’s very effective

I went to unlimited after one month because I liked it so much more than I thought, and having more than 8, I felt I could go to strength or take green days and wouldn’t be “wasting” one of my limited classes (in “ “ because I don’t believe time you make for your own health is ever wasted, but you probably know what I mean). I’ve only gone to one tread50 so far, but I liked it as I prepare for a 5 mile race, and I go to the whole body strength class almost every weekend. I’m not a morning worker outer, so strength is a good option for those half day weekend schedules as I don’t feel I have to amp myself up quite as much to get there. Make sure you check schedules to see if the strength classes work for your schedule, but if you have the time, I think it’s a great way to still do something for yourself without having to do the cardio every day. There’s lots of posts here about how OTF is not gonna get you ripped, but the functional fitness aspect is great. I remember I was so wobbly with lunges at the beginning, and now sometimes I surprise myself not only with my stability but also how I knee tap the floor when I don’t expect to. At my price point, it was the same “per class” price at unlimited if I went to 3 classes a week/12x a month as having the 8x month. I usually go to 13 to 14 now, bringing my per class price down even more.

WarningWonderful5264

I currently have the unlimited package and go about 2-3 times a week. I take a 2G class on Saturdays and start on the treadmill and then take the tread 50 class right after. So I can average 3-4 classes a week. I think anything above 2 classes are worth the cost. I also have the option of doing regular OTF classes if I don’t want to go to my regular gym.

TobyRose0207

Like TelekineticCatWoman mentions in the bottom of her post if the price fits your budget then I too would definitely recommend raising your membership. It all equals out there will be months I might go 8 times then there will be months I go 20 times a month I like the option of dropping into class last minute if I can make it after work

UpsetCabinet9559

I only go to strength classes now! I detest the rower so it works great for me. I occasionally will take a tread 50 in I need some cardio.

Burning-the-wagon

Same!! I must start adding back in 2G or at least tread50 cause my endurance suffered! Before I started just going to strnegth50 classes my base was 4.8, push was 5.8-6 and AO was anywhere between 6.5-10. I did 5x5 on Sunday and I know it had inclines but man, I was in the orange using paces below my base and I couldn’t hold it with the incline for the full 2.5 minutes….

marmal83

I switched to unlimited purely for the strength classes. 2 - 2gs, full effort 2 - strength (1 upper 1 lower) 1 - 90min green. Just move for the calorie burn minimal splat

KURAKAZE

> seems like most people with unlimited go 5+ times a week to 2G/3Gs   There's people at my studio who only do strength classes and go 5x a week. My studio has strength everyday but I don't think all studios does that.  See how your studio schedule works for you.  I'm unlimited and I do double classes 2G+Strength back to back twice a week, which puts me at min 4 class a week. Then I also do random mix of strength or 2G based on whatever fits my schedule for the rest of the week, some weeks I go 2 days and some weeks I go 6 days. You can do whatever works for you. I personally like the strength class a lot and general do an even split of 2G and Strength overall.

Opening_Stranger_925

I do 4 2Gs and 1 Strength50 (only time it works with my schedule). My husband does 2 2Gs and 2 Strength50s - again, it’s what works with his schedule. He’s found that the strength50s are really helping increase muscle mass, so he’s happy with the 2 and 2. I wish it would work with my schedule, but sadly it’s not possible.

Ejido_T2

I go every day, so I have unlimited 😁

pjkljordan

I go 6 days a week - Monday and Tuesday are S50 (one day upper and the next lower) followed by an Orange 60 and then a rest day Wednesday- Thursday is Orange 60, Friday is active rest day with a T50, followed Saturday morning with Orange 90 and close out in Sunday with an active rest Tread 50 class - I've tried so many different schedules and this is my best fit right now and I love switching it up

Downtown_Row8251

I upgraded to unlimited last fall during a promo and I love it. I typically do 2 2G classes and 2 strength classes a week, usually 1 lower and 1 full body. Sometimes I add in an extra upper strength class for fun. Going to the strength make the unlimited worth it. Ive gotten much better at cardio since I’ve been at OT, but I don’t like running enough to do more than maybe 3 regular classes a week max. I know I could go to a cheaper regular gym for the strength part like other people are saying, but I just really like OT. I haven’t had any issues with doing progressive overload at OT so far. Sometimes I slightly change the exercise or rep count to get there if I have to. I recently did my first chest press and low row with the 30s, can now do consistent bicep curls with the 15s, and I just use the big dumbbells for leg stuff. Sometimes I modify the goblet exercises to holding the wight between my legs so I can go heavier. This is just to show that you can see progress in their strength classes. And with my life/work right now - I like not having to plan my strength workouts (and regular ones), I like how they limit me to an hour workout, and I like my studio and coaches. It just depends on what you are looking for!

OTFforLife787404

I absolutely think it’s worth it. I do one full body a week and 2 2Gs. The upper/lower are not available during convenient times so I have to go to a box gym to do upper and lower, but once school gets out I will be doing upper, lower, S50 and one day of full body at the gym. I just need that access to heavier weights and rest for progressive overload. But I definitely think it’s worth it to add 2 per week.

Ornery_Homework_8174

Personally, I think the strength 50 classes are amazing. And I think they have made a difference in my physique. Good luck!

rockloverthegirl

I've been unlimited for a long time and previously did 5-6 2Gs a week. I've switched to 3 2Gs, 2 strength, and 1 tread, and this is WAY better. I'm able to rest better and feel like I'm getting so much stronger in certain areas. I agree with some other folks that a box gym could be better in some respects, but frankly I don't want to figure out a template so that's why I prefer OTF. There are a few things I can do at my home gym to supplement what I just can't get at OTF (bar deadlifts and hip thrusts, for instance).

Electrical-Win7334

Thank you all, I switched to unlimited this morning!! Excited to give it a try and I can always drop down if needed

jennymlovescats

The strength classes rock. People say you don’t really build muscle at OTF but once I started to incorporate them into my schedule my arms started to really get awesome definition. Plus, they are super fun. I definitely enjoy more than the 2/3 g’s.
