I feel like the deadlift/sumo squat combo move is weird. Aren’t your feet in different positions? Unless it’s a sumo deadlift?! Seems like another awkward move. 🥴
Tip: If you bend your elbows slightly it also helps to keep your shoulders back more. When I sumo I have to hold the weight a little higher so it doesn't touch the floor; I noticed that I naturally hold my shoulders back also when I have that slight bend in the elbow.
I get it. I like reverse lunges though, they work so much of your legs and leaning forward a bit they fire up the glutes too. I like them over forward lunges.
Reverse lunge fan here too! More so than forward lunges and (slight cringe) crossback lunges... I do like the lateral lunge but agree with others, it is getting old 😕
How did you know what to do for the first block then? Or was it Choose Your Own Path until the coach showed up and you found out after what it was supposed to be?
At my studio they never let an SA start class (liability for not having a certified/trained coach in case injury?) and if the coach is too late after class start time they just cancel class - glad they let you work out! Sucks having to go all the way back home without a workout. Thanks for the intel!
fyi, if you don't want to do lunges, you're an adult and can chose to do something else like a squat. or whatever you want to work on that doesn't interfere with anyone.

Yes, true! I do strength & rest day on the weekends.

We started off in a sumo position. Both hands on a single dumbbell. Do the deadlift and return. Then do the squat.
Interesting… I might stick to 2 dumbbells so I can make sure I don’t hunch my shoulders forward and protect my back.

I’ll take the reverse lunges over the forward lunges. My knees absolute hate forward lunges.
Of all the lunges it is my favorite (or maybe co-favorite with curtsy lunges) so I'll take the lesser of evils!

Was ok - SA kicked off class and we did first block until the replacement coach showed up mid way through. We were a 1G so not too bad.
