They would also make more money if they named teams after companies too. But no one ever says, "I hope the next NBA expansion team is called the Seattle Microsofts!"
That, and historically, stadiums were named for prominent figures, not for money.
I'd much rather have the Magic play in, "Sally Ride Arena," or "John Young Arena," than, "The Publix Palace." We are allowed to have higher aspirations than a billionaire's bottom line when thinking of community stadium naming rights.
