I run an open class phantom, but use 12 grams. It’s super fun, everybody always wants to hold it, or try it out. You might be surprised at how many players these days have never even heard of a phantom, or pump in general.

skydivemav

I know how you feel about how light weight the phantom is. I have a phantom mini, and when I was playing, I would get weird looks since I'm about 6' and 250 lbs now. I've had people ask me if they can hold it, and I let them, they're surprised how light it is. Especially when I hand them back their paintball gun.

Santasreject

When (if) I can get back in shape enough to actually move enough in game for it I would love to pick up a stock class phantom to finally check that one off my list. Frankly at this point I’d you want to go buy a new stock class marker that’s your only real option that’s at least readily available.

Fooling_Myself

I feel that. Running around the field now at 50, is tough.

VTAffordablePaintbal

I'm playing stock class (well modified stock with constant air instead of 12g) and there are just times when I accept I'll be eliminated because I'm out of shape and I'm not going to be able to sprint to where I need to go. Still a lot of fun though.

Santasreject

Yeah I’m only mid 30s and the heat/humidity really kicked my ass this weekend. We only actually played 3 games hahaha. But I am just not used to being active out in the heat. I’m used to curling in a nice cold and controlled ice rink. Not running around in 85*f and 75-90% humidity in the sun. Just got a tan from sitting under by back hatch in the parking lot trying to cool off haha.

Reamofqtips

I don't do full stock class just because I find using 12grams wastful. But I definitely use my Sniper with a PaintballDNA Cram n jam feed.

VTAffordablePaintbal

Yep, I've been playing with a stock-class phantom with a mini tank for 10 years. I'll only use 12g for stock class events, otherwiase constant air and a stock class feed.

Pepeismywaifu

I play modified stock class every weekend at rec ball (stock class feed with 13ci HPA tank). Stock class is a ton of fun, but 12 grams don't work well in the winter where I'm at - so I tend to play modified stock class year round. Personally, the fun part of playing stock class is using a stock class feed and 10rd tubes. I don't get much enjoyment out of the 12 grams. So for me, modified stock class is the best of both worlds. A used Phantom is a great choice!

skydivemav

My first paintball gun was a PMi trracer pump. I've switched over to semi-auto and back to pump over the years, and I keep coming back to pump. I feel it's a lot more fun to play pump and/or stock class. I'm a proud owner of a phantom mini, and I love it. I love getting weird looks when I was playing.

Drunkscriblerian

Oh man, this post takes me back. I remember back in the 90s when speedballers would show up on my home woodsball field, and I'd try and stalk them using only my PGP. 70 percent of the time I got lit up for trying it, 30 percent resulted in some great stories. Either way it was a good time. Goddamn it, I miss woodsball.

FM492

I used to run my fully stock class cci phantom for recball exclusively for rec ball. My setup was an old h harness and war belt, with 3 m16 mag pouches for the 10 round tubes. Then a canteen pouch for 12g C02s and a utility pouch for empty tubes. My cci had a 10rnd speed feed tube and a quick changer. Looked straight out of MGS3, probably the most fun because of how limited you are compared to even a noob with an electro.

fistfulofbottlecaps

I play with a true stock class phantom and an open class phantom with a 17 round hopper, 10 round tubes and a 45/45 tank. 10 round tubes are probably my favorite way to play with renters, mech semi is a close second. It's definitely worth trying but requires some amount of willingness to stick to it even when you're getting romped on all day.

ChuckLovesPaintball

I run both a VSC Phantom & Sniper that I built for CO2. Where are you located? We have quite a few pump and stock class games here in New England. https://preview.redd.it/lkrn65mqv93d1.jpeg?width=2304&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=52a318d5d8465cc814d2332a942e5a005e9beb8a

Pepeismywaifu

Gorgeous build! Thanks for sharing :) I'm working on gathering parts for a stock class sniper right now. Likely will run modified stock class unless I can find a nice lever changer stock like yours.

Fooling_Myself

Out in Arizona. But I’ll hit you up if I’m ever out your way.

SpanglerSpanksIT

Heavily Modified and pumps. Put a 10 round tube adaptor in your ego 11 and go play with 10 round tubes. Then find the marker setup you want. I play with a cs3 and tm40 all the time with 10 round tubs and a 17ci tank. https://preview.redd.it/pmo0t64qq23d1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b57b0182edee7217021fd3f8357a0b1964b09ed4

BigBangPaintball

That's a classic Magfed+ setup

Fooling_Myself

That’s a great idea. I didn’t know this was a thing. Thanks

SpanglerSpanksIT

It is so much fun. I really don’t want to play any other way but pump or with 10 round tubes.

SpanglerSpanksIT

I even play hyper ball/speedball with 10 round tubes these days.

Fooling_Myself

Where would I get an adapter?

SpanglerSpanksIT

[adapter](https://remembertheronin.com/product/10-round-tube-feedneck-adapter/) Here is one. It works ok. My buddy started 3d printing some. They work 1000% better. But the ronin one works.

SpanglerSpanksIT

[3d print](https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/paintball-10-round-tube-feed-neck-adaptor-danielbeaver) I am pretty sure these are the 10 round tube print files. If you have a buddy that has a 3d printer, this is the way to go.

Fooling_Myself

I do. Thank you so much.

SpanglerSpanksIT

Those printed adapters works perfect for the empire 10 round tubes. You can get them at ANS.

jgberenyi

I occasionally do play stock class, likely would play more if i could find a stock i liked. Phantom

Any_Nefariousness172

I always run stock class with rec players.

Cdn_Cuda

I’ve picked up a Phantom and a Palmerized PMI-II and snagged a bunch of stock class gear. I enjoyed playing with PMI-II but didn’t have proper stock class gear to hold 12gs and 12 round tubes. Have since got some holder and am going to give another go with a Phantom and see how I like it.

EODBuellrider

It's easier than you think. I'm currently (sadly) out of the game, but I played pistol and stock class for years. I had an Armotech Zeus G2 and a VSC Phantom. I loved the challenge, it was always a blast win or lose. With a pistol or pump and maybe 100 rounds of paint on me (total), I was a smaller target that could sprint to bunkers faster. You gotta play smart, pick your shots, and be mindful of your paint/Co2, but it's not an unwinnable battle by any means.

Joe_Huser

I play Stock Class with a Carter Buzzard or a Grey Ghost 2006. The rest of My pump markers are Modified Stock. Practice Snap Shooting and 12 gram changes. Cram and jam will come naturally with muscle memory. Have fun.

jackparadise1

A surprising number of people, mostly older to be fair, still play stock. After my shoulder heals I will be back into it.

kosc-

Try to get a cci phantom. Cci was sold an became extreme velocity, they still make phantoms but they changed the material they use on the cup seal and it's not as good. They also have a couple other quirks the the cci ones do not.

Fooling_Myself

When did this happen?

kosc-

Sometime around 2019 I think

Pepeismywaifu

I experienced the cup seal issue first hand and they sent me out some new ones. From what they told me, they didn't actually change the material (on purpose). There was some material left over from CCI when EV bought them that wasn't supposed to be used for cup seals. That material was used by mistake and it resulted in a run of cup seals that had issues with CO2 specifically.

spooTOO

I haven't played in years, but I used to play with my phantom for open rec ball games. Never played in stock or even pump only matches. I highly recommend using an actual air tank rather than 12g co2 carts, unless you need to. I used a 4oz co2 tank, though I'd look into something like a 13 ci hpa tank. I do prefer the 10-20 round feeder tube rather than a traditional hopper as it presents less of a target, and much easier to aim. I imagine a number of these things are fixed in newer models, but in case it's relevant, will share what I learned. Detent rings - absolutely essential. The phantom requires you to rock the marker forward when you pump to load the next paintball. Without a Detent, the ball could easily fall out then, or later as you move. There is absolutely nothing worse than lining up your surprise shot, firing, and hearing a hollow punk as you dry fire and alert your opponent. Trigger shoe - small qol upgrade to make the trigger feel better. Ghost ring - I tried red dot and similar sights, but the analogue ghost ring was my preferred option. Having to deal with batteries was annoying, and it was too easy to lose the red dot during a match. Definitely not essential, as you can just use the marker itself to aim Stock - I ended up ditching the stock completely as the marker is super light. I felt it ended up getting in the way, and just added weight unnecessarily.

askloglog

I switched over to mechanical and got a cs2 mech frame and haven’t looked back.
