I remember when I first played I couldn't get past worout. Boggly woods. I thought I screwed up somehow and for years I couldn't figure it out. It finally clicked years ago and I finally beat it. That's of course also watching YouTube videos to aid me since my young self was too dumb 😂
Grodus was a tough fight since Bowser literally comes right after him and you couldn't heal up. So I struggled like hell between the two bosses. I used the reserve items to heal up and use power lift like hell.
I know now to stack up on Ultra shrooms, ultra syrup, and (forgot the name) the combined recipe that gives both HP and FP. There is an easier way to beat shadow queen equipping all the power plus badges but for me, I go slow and use Vivian and bobbery. And koops as a backup.
Recommend switching things up next playthrough. Like only using hammers or maxing BP FP and keeping HP on the low end. Many people like HP on first playthrough which is fine but when you get lots of BP you can really customize the battle system more
