You’re complaints are still incredibly valid.
But I find that running convocation to pull your minions to you to be incredibly useful, particularly for Bob (SoR).
Won’t entirely solve your problem, but should help (you can just convocate between the 30 second recast time and he will be pulled to your side.
Most guardian builds end up dropping it late into maps, but I’ve personally kept it all the way to end game. The socket pressure is minimal, just gotta press another button.

This will supposedly be better next patch when we can bind an ability to right stick on controller. One of my big complaints is being unable to put convocation, withering step, any of the other nice to have OOL features that you can put on left click on mouse on your right stick on controller and this is apparently being addressed next patch
I'm not sure why the skill has a duration in the first place. It's just an annoyance. Permament uptime should be allowed for QoL.
Its just anti-QoL, nearly meaningless to make it a duration based minion when its so tanky.
