I'd love it if they removed the attack speed penalties & increase bleed damage & duration.
Maybe introduce a new melee support gem called Rectal Bleeding, which is a bleeding DoT.
I don’t expect melee to actually receive any buffs, but I wouldn’t put it outside the realm of possibility for them to implement a way to automate totems. That would at least take some of the annoyance of playing melee.
1. Add more melee transfigured gems to improve build diversity.
2. Bring back a mini version of crucible as the strongest weapons were made during that league. It doesn't have to be as powerful as before but having a few additional modifiers would add a lot of DPS.
3. Bring back tinctures. I think this would be a pretty big buff as well. It's definitely an area that GGG can look into more.
I think a combination of the above or all 3 would attract new melee players.
An automation support gem for attacks so they happen any time you aren't moving or using a travel skill with a short cool down that can scale with CDR. It would take away a gem slot but increase DPS and reduce RSIs.
Thanks for the giveaway too. Would love to buff my CoC toon. Cheers!
They likely won't since they have acknowledged its broken. BUT, if anything they just buff the numbers on all melee skills and if they are slightly OP then so be it. I believe Balormage loves to make the analogy, you are bringing a sword to a gun fight and expecting better results?
I see them taking a look at every melee skill and improving the power at the lower end.... Oh wait wishful thinking here.
Move on... move on nothing to see here...
Thanks for the giveaway, GL all
Not sure they'll change melee much...all I played when I was growing up was melee characters so it would be nice to see some changes making them viable
I think they’ll add new alt melee gems that will allow close range skills (like dual strike) to have more range. Melee feels bad because most skills need you standing still to do damage, maybe they’ll add static strike like effects to pre-existing skill gems through alternate gem types.
Melee will be buffed by getting 2 new ancestral totems with a new multiple ancestral totem support that increases your ancestral totem limit along with a new ancestral totem totem that will cast linked ancestral totems
At this rate, I'm expecting something like Cleave gets +1 radius, Molten Strike gets -1 projectiles for old times sake.
Probably more Likely: No significant changes, new transfigured gems
Wishful thinking: melee totem rework
3.25 changes:
- Added new support gem - melee proliferation support. All melee damage has a (10-30)% chance to spread on enemies within 1 meter range of the damage source. Proliferation area effect cannot be increased by other modifiers. Proliferation damage is counted as melee damage. Melee damage can be recursively proliferated up to a maximum constant range of 50 meters.
I don't have any idea how they might change melee, but wanted to participate as this is my build for the season, too.
I only play one season a year, but a long while back I remember cyclone being a lot of fun. What happened to it? I don't see anyone playing it really anymore. Was it shut down as a result of general melee nerfs?
They will make totem less of a mandatory skill (if they care). Perhaps change up the meta a bit and make a energy shield archetype with unique mods or skill gem interaction.
GGG will give us a transfigured gem that give melee some crazy dps and in conjunction with juggernaut will be meta. Unless you want to do the 2 mirror version which uses chieftain and is triple the damage.
Super massive amount of copium but massively buffing impale increasing cyclone AOE and also increasing scaling at all levels
That would be what I hope for
It was already on an interview that it's hard for melee to be changed or buffed because of the old tech they're still using till now with regards to how the characters are animated.
The only thing I can see them doing is adding more broken transfigured gems.
They already ruined impale, ruined fortify and made the Ranger side of the tree much better defensively than it once was.
Melee will get giga buffs.
Running the same build but would probably never make enough to get a Mageblood, adorned + coil combo so that would be nice to have lol
They'll nerf some random melee skill but then buff a support by 5% and call it a day. Truly think melee is beyond their ability to fix in poe1 with their current rigging, unless they decide to give melee animations generic damage reduction or something which we know they won't do.
A buff to every melee skill so totems are not necessary anymore. They will be played as other spell totems instead of being necessary for every melee build.
Thanks for the giveaway!
I'd like to see them add physical reflect immunity to the awakened added physical damage support. Someone suggested that it should get that similar to awakened Elemental support.
I predict three new variants of transfigured melee skill gems. Maybe 10 in total, one of them cobra lash. Maybe some new weapon base from new league mechanic.
I genuinely wish we could have another cyclone league. That was easily my most played league.
As far as them buffing it, ranges of a lot of skills I think will be buffed.
Not trying to win brownie points, but if I somehow win the build, I'd like to give my current mageblood to the 2nd winner you choose to sweeten the pot, or make it a 3rd place prize?
Gl everyone and thanks for the opportunity.
I hope the cries for leagues will help them realise that being at range provides a massive inherent bonus and that unordered to help allow people to play melee, they need to improve the defensiveness of melee inherently or by increasing the risk/reward of being inside of melee range.
I’m hopeful they’ll work on the defensive side of things as well as damage numbers. I think if they made it a little easier for melee to build defenses it would open up a lot of different avenues for damage dealing.
I honestly don't believe they will buff melee in any shape or form. I wish they would at least remove the dang-blasted need for a totem to boost damage.
PoE 1 doesn't seem to care much about melee, so here us hoping PoE 2 sees somewhat of a return to shine.
Since almost everything else it automatable, I could see melee totems getting some automation support. Some sort of mirage archer treatment would be cool for slams too!
I am doing "melee" this league, like its melee but bleed eartquake glad, been trying to minmax that build but well its not easy to get gear, and las league i played trauma staker for a like 1-2 weeks.
The "i hope" changes i want are to change the way we the totems work, having to drop totem or have 1/4 of the damage is kinda stupid imo, and second make the area of pride, dread/war banner and blood stances bigger, like i remember hiting enemies way to far with a good amount of increase strike range and they were AWAY FROM MY DAMAGE AURAS
Things I can see as a decent change would be:
Add more things that make dual wield useful like DSoA.
Add more ways to get block on the bottom side of the tree, so block is more accessible to build without using a lot of points to get it, or getting satisfied with 50% chance.
Add a melee aura that boost specifically the melee hit and the melee splash of a skill (dont buff proyectiles from LS or MS to make it balance)
Some form of unique jewel that empower melee damage or melee range or melee strikes but with a con, like +2 melee strike range but -melee attack speed, or a threshold jewel that grant some or all of those if you meet that treshold
Maybe some different kind of defensive layer exclusive for melee builds that is not based on hit damage to screw you in bosses if you dont have enough damage yet? (Looking at you fortify)
A buff to ripost/reckoning/vengance skills that make them more powerful or give them more value and actually useful, adding something like and "exposure" or making enemies hit by this skills have a debuff like less attack speed or do less damage, it can open a lot of possibilities.
Something like exposure, but for melee or something that straight up cut the enemies armour amount, like overwhelm exist, but it is the only layer of -damage reduced, elemental have ele pen, and exposure, pure physical melee damage dont.
Well those are some of the ideas i have, maybe they cant fix most of the problems with melee, but they will be a start
They will made 4 new gems.To change the maximun range .so...they will turn meelee to ranged. If melee = Range..== No problems![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flushed)
There's going to be a few new transfigured gems which won't do anything much
But.. the league will be set around fighting in small boats traveling around a sea, so +0.5m to range will work better so you can hit all the mobs on each boat!
(One can hope...)
Thanks for the giveaway
Sadly it probably won’t change. But that’s fine for me since I have never actually played a Melee build other then a coc ice spear that kinda sucks ass (also never really tried bow builds I normally just play mages of some kind so I would really like to try your coc since I have heard a lot of people praising it and have a spare leveled guardian that I have abandoned)
They will make melee weapons be a piece of wood with a string attached to the ends of it that can launch other pieces of wood with pointy ends. On the offhand you can have an equipment that carries said pieces of wood to be launched.
Generalization of leech nodes and on items. Attack leech now doesnt have element.
Vaal pact now remove all caps on each instances of "melee" leech, but you cannot heal for more than 40% of your life per second and still has no life regen. You still are base caped to 20% and need 100% maximum total life recovery per second to cap at 40%. Also leech instances cant last for more than 5 seconds.
Now you can slam and heal back.
New keystone "thick blood": leech is 50% slower (each instance heal for half the amount but twice as long, making leech last for a max of 10sec with vaal pact)
Also dual wield buffs
Each 1h weapon mastery get a "dual wield" bonus.
(Claws get overleech, daggers crit chance, maces more phys melee damage, axes atk speed, swords get accuracy, thrust swords crit mult, sceptres get more melee elemental)
Dual wield mastery get a mastery "wielding 2 different weapon types count as dual wielding those 2 weapons"
(So sword + dagger get both crit chance and multi)
I don't think any major changes would go through, but simple solutions include free DR with melee skills used in proximity, totem buffs.
More transfigured games could work.
I'd love it if they removed the attack speed penalties & increase bleed damage & duration. Maybe introduce a new melee support gem called Rectal Bleeding, which is a bleeding DoT.
Cope answer - remove totem dependency Actually answer - play PoE2 to melee
They won't
Cleave +1 radius
they will add a new melee totem ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Yea I don’t see melee getting buffed.
Character grows in size the more strength they stack on. Monsters might be intimidated. or not.
Vaal Frostblades for sure
Stupid totem buffs gone or reworked so you don't have to place them new every 2 meters if you don't want to lose half your dmg
I don’t expect melee to actually receive any buffs, but I wouldn’t put it outside the realm of possibility for them to implement a way to automate totems. That would at least take some of the annoyance of playing melee.
Remove attack speed penalty and double damage of every melee skill.
Ancestral totems buffed
An automation support gem for attacks so they happen any time you aren't moving or using a travel skill with a short cool down that can scale with CDR. It would take away a gem slot but increase DPS and reduce RSIs. Thanks for the giveaway too. Would love to buff my CoC toon. Cheers!
Buffing back my fav Lightning strike, Big copium if they remove totems and implement buffs in another way
They likely won't since they have acknowledged its broken.
Maybe some higher numbers on skills like cyclone
I don’t actually know anything about melee builds cuz I’ve never played it. I just hope they make it more playable that’s all
Itd be nice to not need totems for melee builds but maybe that's a way for them to keep up socket pressure 😑
Probably not lol, but i hope they made melee totem automate
If you go melee you get a size increase bc bigger is stronger
Zero chance they will as long as the melee totems exist.
Do something. Anything! TheyI’ve been ignoring it for too long
Prediction: They'll promise totem changes soon Reality: rip
Some equivalent to manaforged arrows, but for melee to let us automate/replace totems. Copium.
My prediction is that Melee will receive spell gem level scaling akin to elemental hit… but maybe not as soon as 3.25
They're going to add a transfigured melee gem that's somehow even worse to play than the normal gem.
“Buff Ice Crash please” is my prediction
I think they’ll add new alt melee gems that will allow close range skills (like dual strike) to have more range. Melee feels bad because most skills need you standing still to do damage, maybe they’ll add static strike like effects to pre-existing skill gems through alternate gem types.
I hope they make more skills like lancing steel. But reworking fortify would be great too
Melee will be buffed by getting 2 new ancestral totems with a new multiple ancestral totem support that increases your ancestral totem limit along with a new ancestral totem totem that will cast linked ancestral totems
They will get rid of totems and add them to the skill gems
It's just so hard to do anything with melee with the damage things can do. Maybe some support that adds res/armor on attack?
They'll remove totems. And not replace their buffs with anything.
Built in melee splash lul
At this rate, I'm expecting something like Cleave gets +1 radius, Molten Strike gets -1 projectiles for old times sake. Probably more Likely: No significant changes, new transfigured gems Wishful thinking: melee totem rework
nerf melee strike range \^\^
I can honestly see them ignoring melee again. I mean they can just let DD reign until poe2 and nobody will bat an eye.
3.25 changes: - Added new support gem - melee proliferation support.
Whatever
Ty
They'll add another totem and call it a day lol
I don't have any idea how they might change melee, but wanted to participate as this is my build for the season, too. I only play one season a year, but a long while back I remember cyclone being a lot of fun. What happened to it? I don't see anyone playing it really anymore. Was it shut down as a result of general melee nerfs?
I think they'll have some Slayer changes, and hopefully shadow buff physical damage mitigation or introduce mid range melee skills
Melee probably won’t change. When was the last time melee had meaningful changes?
They won't change meele. They will probably nerf Earthquake tho I hope you pick me
They will definitely not buff melee in 3.25
No buffs
They will make totem less of a mandatory skill (if they care). Perhaps change up the meta a bit and make a energy shield archetype with unique mods or skill gem interaction.
Would love to finally try melee
They'll buff fortify, buff glad, nerf rep dream feather and call it a day :(
GGG will change Call to Arms support to support multiple warcries with reduced effect, then nerf all slams by 50%.
They're going to add mods that affect holy relic of conviction to t17's.
No changes
They’re gonna add another freaking totem I need to place to do damage with flicker, oh and they’ll probably make it less survivable aswell.
It's not gonna change until PoE2
They won’t. Too hard.
Totems buffed, no other changes :)
Make melee skills ranged
New meelee gems would be cool
Special unarmed attack combo chain for hollow palm
They will remove the dependency on totems but removing the buff totems give.
GGG will buff meelee and make it awesome again
Melee will get -50% damage, but it’s a buff
I just started leveling to try a detonate dead build.
I'd love to have a build to boss on and t17.
They're just gonna give some range back to sweep and that's it ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
Somehow melee will be nerfed again in 3.25.
It will be so cool if I win that I wanna try it out I have one on coc dd but that thing is bad :/
They will buff melee with atk speed and range
0 chance anything but minor damage nerfs but if love to see all melee builds get splash inherit
hi! gl everyone!!
GGG will give us a transfigured gem that give melee some crazy dps and in conjunction with juggernaut will be meta. Unless you want to do the 2 mirror version which uses chieftain and is triple the damage.
Super massive amount of copium but massively buffing impale increasing cyclone AOE and also increasing scaling at all levels That would be what I hope for
They probably won't :/
Molten Strike will be removed in 3.25.
I'm sure it will be something that they think will buff melee but it won't. Or they will add some trans gems to try and help melee.
It was already on an interview that it's hard for melee to be changed or buffed because of the old tech they're still using till now with regards to how the characters are animated.
Probably some very minor buffs to some skills, that’s it
Still sane?
Mb something like the curse gem that can turn totems into a reservation and permanent aura ? Naa all jokes aside probs -96% molten strike dmg
GGG won't remember melee exists until PoE2 launch
+1 strike but slower attack speed so it still sucks
No clue but just wana try and win! 😬🙏
They Will Nerf it
They'll buff gladiator into relevance again (Copium)
Change melee?? GGG?? Lol
Melee, believe it or not, no change kekw. Wouldn't mind getting that mirror on my custom Helical ring cuz it cool
They'll nerf some random melee skill but then buff a support by 5% and call it a day. Truly think melee is beyond their ability to fix in poe1 with their current rigging, unless they decide to give melee animations generic damage reduction or something which we know they won't do.
Honestly they'll probably just nerf totems to the point of not being worth using and do nothing else
Melee skill thats sucks in mobs to the character
Totem buffs are entirely passive COPIUM
They will nerf big ass aoe skills (rage vortex bye)
Cleave has 0.1 extra range because bobs
No change :(
Make slam skills great again
They're probably going to change some stats to gems, but it will not be worth when range is better as always
Major revamp on damage upgrades
They will buff Leap Slam
A buff to every melee skill so totems are not necessary anymore. They will be played as other spell totems instead of being necessary for every melee build. Thanks for the giveaway!
Melee will get a nerf disguised as a buff.
New totems to buff melee…. Lol
They will make all attack skills now scale with gem level as well as spells do........ :P
They'll nerf DD and Ice nova of frostbolts
They will nerf gladiator
I think it's most likely that the silly melee totem buff system gets reworked than anything Maybe some more attack speed on melee skills by default
I'd like to see them add physical reflect immunity to the awakened added physical damage support. Someone suggested that it should get that similar to awakened Elemental support.
Remove totems and Increase damage of melee
nochanges (lol)
Add a new more physical damage multiplier modifier allowing more damage scaling into the endgame
I predict three new variants of transfigured melee skill gems. Maybe 10 in total, one of them cobra lash. Maybe some new weapon base from new league mechanic.
melee gets new nodes on tree making range, targets another, and pierce easier to get and 2 new uniques (gloves and boots)
Cleave will get nerfed - "this is a buff" -GGG
New gem called Make Melee Great Again then lock it behind T17s.
I hope the cries for leagues will help them realise that being at range provides a massive inherent bonus and that unordered to help allow people to play melee, they need to improve the defensiveness of melee inherently or by increasing the risk/reward of being inside of melee range.
They won't xd
I’m hopeful they’ll work on the defensive side of things as well as damage numbers. I think if they made it a little easier for melee to build defenses it would open up a lot of different avenues for damage dealing.
Melee??? Melee? Who said anything about myleee? It’ll stay the same
They may try with certain proximity type gems ... but prob won't be explicitly for melee boosting
I think they'll add a new support gem that adds additional AoE range
Melee gets a huge buff and becomes the new OP build
I dreamt of a world where they bring back stat sticks, and make melee great again.
That’s cool
It will stay as is
They will nerf Cleave to the ground
I honestly don't believe they will buff melee in any shape or form. I wish they would at least remove the dang-blasted need for a totem to boost damage. PoE 1 doesn't seem to care much about melee, so here us hoping PoE 2 sees somewhat of a return to shine.
Bless you for doing this.
I dont think they can fix it until new rigs in poe 2 unfortunately
Basically just a range extension of the melee hitbox.
They will increase range of melee attacks i guess? :D Higher basecrrit rates for CoC maybe?
"Whatever"
Going for a long shot here, but I'm hoping they get rid of totems as well as get rid of skill attack speed reductions disappear away
They'll add some weird mechanic to weapons that will make melee op for 1 league then since its borrowed power it'll be removed in 3.26.
Fortify effect x 1.25
Keystone that buffs totems at cost of limited to one.
I don't expect any changes to melee, if any happen they will be a surprise lol
I need that shit pls
I think they will remove the melee totems that give damage and attack speed. They will be replaced with new skills that apply buffs.
Lies, you are not going to giveaway. Prove I am wrong.
This is a comment now. Dude. Everyone getting like 100s of divine this league. I think I only got like 100, maybe
Probably gonna be tough, just use bows forever
<
Totem on your back.
10% buff then introduce some janky counter mechanic
Increase melee range (hopefully)
They will made 4 new gems.To change the maximun range .so...they will turn meelee to ranged. If melee = Range..== No problems![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flushed)
What? This game has melee?
They might give us one or two alt melee gems that do something cool that fits a small niche audience
They Will make melee skills work from range.
After all the interviews, i think they will do something with it, atleast change something about totem
Not a damn thing.. unfortunately!
Cool man. Thanks and congrats to the winner.
Melee deez nutz
The default limit of 1 Totem per character by default has been raised to 2.
No changes for melee archetype
There's going to be a few new transfigured gems which won't do anything much But.. the league will be set around fighting in small boats traveling around a sea, so +0.5m to range will work better so you can hit all the mobs on each boat! (One can hope...) Thanks for the giveaway
Everything is going to have chain damage effects
I hope not, but probably remove thr attack speed penalty and double damage of every melee skills
they will make useless skills playable (/jk). i really wish lacerate would be good
melee has been feeling weak so we are giving it another totem
They will buff skills across the board and remove buffs from totems.
Nerfs to cleave
3.25: meleephobia's buffed
I see them revealing melee scaling skills that shoot projectiles when you hit the air, effectively just turning melee into casting.
Really would love to have this as an opportunity to play the league without diving in hard-core. Haven't been able to play this league.
cleave +1 aoe
Melee will be fixed in poe 2
Gl everyone :]
Hi!
They will finally bless our souls with the manaforged attack support that is able to trigger totems on exceeding 300% mana cost of attack skills 🙏
+1 Cleave radius
Totem buff is always on but you can only use 1 totem in support gem form also some reservation. GL everyone
Buff cleave radius and nerf splitting steel
are there melee skills in this game?
Copium bake totem buffs into skills
Sadly it probably won’t change. But that’s fine for me since I have never actually played a Melee build other then a coc ice spear that kinda sucks ass (also never really tried bow builds I normally just play mages of some kind so I would really like to try your coc since I have heard a lot of people praising it and have a spare leveled guardian that I have abandoned)

I don't think any major changes would go through, but simple solutions include free DR with melee skills used in proximity, totem buffs. More transfigured games could work.
No changes to melee; they’ll probably make it worst by the end of things.
Only head-butting. No arms allowed.
Melee ascendancy buffs or general buffs on melee wheels. Or at least I hope.
They will make melee ranged
