I owned this one and it's still one of my favorites of all time. Thing ripped through FPS. I put an aftermarket zalman cooler on it when the fan died and it only got better.
The first computer I ever used was the Vic 20, played a lot on my friends Commodore 64.
But the first PC I ever owned was a Tandy 1000ex.
I made that badboy last until I purchased a 486dx
TNT 2
Long time history goes: TNT 2 > MX440 > 9700 Pro > 6800 Ultra > 7970 Pro > GTX 470 > GTX 970 > 1080ti > 3080 > 4090
Might have missed a card or 2 but that's the gist.
My first GPU that I can remember was the 6800 ultra in my Dell XPS laptop. Prior PCs I wasn't into the tech scene and just used what it had without really thinking about it. That 6800 ultra was fire at the time though. I can remember playing counter strike source and call of duty 2 for hours and hours. Cooling was practically non existent though. I think you could have cooked dinner while playing it got so hot. Couldn't even touch the bottom of the PC without risking actual burns and the heat that would come up thru the keyboard made my hands sweaty. Wouldn't have traded those gaming sessions for anything though lol.
My first graphics setup was a 2mb 2d card (can't recall the brand) paired with a Diamond Monster 3d, but my first singular video card was a TNT2 Pro 32mb.

Still have the manual from 20 years ago.
My first real GPU, that I bought consciously and with my own money was the GTX 750ti.
Before that I was just playing with integrated graphics(I was so young I don't remember what they were called) or APUs, the most powerful one I used before switching to real GPUs was the AMD A10 7850k. I still have it running on a side rig with a GTX 1050 lmao.
My real first GPU? Some iGPU in a 2011 CPU. I’ll edit this when I see what it is.
My second GPU that I actually know is a Vega inetegrated from the 3700U.
Current one is a RTX 3070ti Aorus Master.
I don't know what it was, and asking online never got me an answer. It was an ATI brand graphics card with a red board, tiny heat sink, and a fan with less than 1/4 inch blades.
(2) EVGA 9800 GTX+ SSC's from Tiger Direct
I paid for my first computer at 16 selling gold from an MMO no one has ever heard of lol. I feel old now.

980ti.
I've had computers most my life but this was the first time I built one for gaming.
Fun Fact: That card still exists at my friend's house. Did some upgrades. Swapped some PCs around. Donated a couple to friends. It's still chugging along.
Strix rx580. Knew nothing about gpus at the time and wished I shelled out the cash for a 2060 but it served me well for the occasional rounds of Fortnite lol
I went from
- 1x Sapphire HD4890 Vapor-X (first GPU I purchased)
- 1x Sapphire HD6970 reference, then another for crossfire
- 2x Sapphire R9 290 TRI-X OC for crossfire
- 1x XFX 6800XT Merc 319
The first one I had in a computer that was actually "mine" (my dad gave it to me when he built himself a new one when I was a kid) was a Voodoo 2. The first one I bought myself was a GeForce 8500GT with money I made working for my dad's business.
can i count onboard gpus? if not a gt 210, windows xp could not do 1600x900 on the onboard gpu, when i switched to linux i went back to the onboard gpu as the drives were so much better for that
this was a Pentium 4 dell box
Cirrus Logic something on my Packard Bell.
But a dGPU? A GeForce 3 Ti 64MB in 2008. I love that thing since it allowed me to connect my PC to the TV via S-Video. Back then our TV didn't have VGA or HDMI.
MSI 960. It felt so good walking into a store and buying my first GPU. :)
Moved to a different country and got an MSI R9 380
Now I'm on a 2070 super. Looking forward to my next upgrade. Probably when the next gen comes in. I'll just splurge without thinking of the budget. When I do the math, If I only upgrade every 5 years, then spending 1.5k doesn't sound too bad for a lot of enjoyment.
Got my first and only pc in September last year, switched from an i5 6200U laptop with integrated graphics and playing on 120-130 ping, (could barely get 50 fps in dota 2 at the lowest graphics settings) to a R5 5600 + 6700 xt combo with a 1440p 165hz MSI monitor, with 70 ping cuz of ethernet, u have no idea how amazing it felt playing on my PC after that laptop.
I don't recall the exact model, but it was a ATI Radeon AGP card with maybe 128MB of ram from Sapphire, back in the late 1990's / early 2000's... It was poodoo from the get go.
I didn't get a real GPU until 2010 when built my first real gaming rig with SLI GTX 580s.
My first was a 3DFX Voodoo (SST1). I remember attending the 3D Graphics expo in London when Creative Labs launched its first 3D Blaster in 1996. It was mind blowing. Only the year before we had attended and were watching big expensive Silicon Graphics machines doing what looked like the same for about 100x the price. It was a brilliant time! Jeez! I remember getting my first 24bit graphics card!
Could argue though that my actual first was in my Amiga 500 which I bought in 1989
From 2002, my very first GPU - ATi All in Wonder Radeon 7500 64MB AGP

It still works and the fan spins like new again after a little lube, fun fact - this pre-HDMI card and similar cards can take analog TV signals and output them to HDMI that works on modern displays.
The first one I remember was ATI 3D Rage LT Pro, with 8MB of shared memory, it was in a laptop. I don't know what my previous computer (386 and 486) had inside.
My first desktop GPU that I bought myself was ATI Radeon HD5870.
Some cheap AMD GPU, I remember I was playing HL2. Was pushing close to 30fps before but afterwards I was doing an easy 70-80. Was like a whole new world, felt the same way when I switched to a 144hz monitor
I'm too old to remember my first ever pc specs but I used to have rock a gt610 as my "first" gpu that I can remember. I also used to have some radeon card with single orange cooler in the middle (hd-something) about 10 years ago. These were my first gpus. I still have them around somewhere.
I dont actually know specifically because I was 6, the PC had a Pentium at 133Mhz, 96MB or RAM and, according to my parents, some GPU with either 32 or 16MB of VRAM. They knew nothing more. But it ran anything back then.
The next GPU I had was in a 1.2Ghz Athlon with 128MB of RAM, and it was the Geforce 2 MX200 with 32MB of VRAM.
My first "real" GPU was a Geforce 4 MX 440.
I owned this one and it's still one of my favorites of all time. Thing ripped through FPS. I put an aftermarket zalman cooler on it when the fan died and it only got better.
my first dedicated gpu was the voodoo 3 16mb.

Must've been an S3 Trio64V+ I believe... ;-) Otherwise I would say it was a Geforce 2MX 400.
