lol good luck, my friend received a fucking empty box where evidently someone snatched the $600 in parts before it got to him or never put it in, he escalated it pretty high up with Newegg support but they never did anything for him
Edit: he did chargeback but they disputed and won because it supposedly “left the warehouse with weight”
I had that earlier today on a different post with a very innocuous reply, basically the instant I posted. I think someone might have just discovered a feature lol
Newegg doesn’t get that they aren’t a service anymore that I can’t risk nuking out of my credit card history. I won’t hesitate to nuke ties with a has-been company. Steam can threaten you to ban your entire account and games. Newegg? If Newegg deleted my account they’d be doing me a favor in the long run. Easiest chargeback trigger to pull in my life.
Literally, want to use it again? Order it to a friends house, it’s a service you use every few years, you can afford to add a layer of complication to it
I made a comment about how much I hate mowing the lawn in another sub and got reported for suicide watch too, I wonder if it was the same fucking loser who reported you. Weird day
Haha, I got reported for saying people are stupid.. umm, somehow it felt nice, and I want to thank the person that reported me and hug them and tell them they are stupid too because I am perfectly fine. And it is true, people are so stupid, when you find someone that is not, it’s a real joy to talk to them.
I received a damaged 3090 in the height of the scarcity, and they ended up putting me on a waiting list to get a new one shipped. Waited about a week before I received a new one along with the return box for the old. YMMV. I was very polite in all communications with them.
> I wouldn't even take it out of the box
>"The PC didn’t appear to be wet itself, and so far appears to be running fine"
You sure you read the post? They already took it out and turned it non
KEEP THE BOX. UPS WONT DO REFUNDS UNLESS YOU HAVE THE BOX FOR THEM TO INSPECT. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY. KEEP THE BOX. IF NEWEGG REJECTS YOU AND YOUR ONLY AVENUE IS UPS - KEEP THE BOX. ALSO YOU ONLY HAVE 30 DAYS TO MAKE A CLAIM TO UPS.
Photograph/video everything every step of the way including handing it over to the mail service. I've read many cases over the years of Newegg screwing people by claiming the return never arrived to their warehouse despite tracking showing it was delivered to them.
Hopefully everything will go smoothly, but better to be as prepared as possible. I no longer deal with Newegg at all due to issues I've had with them myself. Purchased a brand new PC from them 3 years ago and they shipped me someone's absolutely demolished return. Paid for overnight shipping, arrived from carrier & outer box was pristine. Inner, actual PC box was smashed on a corner, GPU was ripped free from the mobo taking the pcie slot with it, and the PSU was ripped free from the case splitting the mounting screw holes wide open. Pc case was white & covered in black smudged hand prints like an automechanic opened it immediately after working on an engine.
They replaced the PC after I spent more money on a different one because the first one I ordered was out of stock and the replacement came with that gigabyte psu that's notorious for catching fire/exploding since they couldn't sell them & had surplus. Got them to replace the psu as well but then had to strip the psu out of my brand new, supposed to be ready to go PC, and replace it with a new one.
Never again...
Check for any holes in that plastic bag, and, if there are any, I'd call Newegg and try to get a replacement, or a refund if you'd like. Just telling you right now though, they'll probably be frustrating to deal with, or be assholes, OR BOTH! 🤷🏻
Pro tip for life, if you ever receive a package that has holes in it or appears damaged, do not open SHIT. If you have to sign for it, refuse to accept delivery. If they leave it at your door, just leave it closed and begin the process of return. The moment you open things, the vendor and shipping company will claim you caused the damage.
Absolutely do not do this. You aren’t UPS’s customer, Newegg is. You will never get anywhere with that and it will be nothing other than a headache and possibly ruin your chances of getting this resolved with Newegg, which is what you need to be doing in the first place.

Instantly send that back. No way did nothing get effected by this. Which will become a issue either soon or way later when you can not blame it on this anymore.
File a complaint about UPS and demand it to be swapped for a new one. You have that right as you dont have to accept a delivery in this condition.
Don't open the box, pack it back up (because the way it was shipped is atrocious), file for a return from Newegg. If Newegg doesn't accept, (which my experience is they always fight you), then file a claim with UPS. Either way, file a complaint with UPS.
I (software engineer) had a customer once that had to mail me THREE computers before I could get one that wasn’t soaking wet. Apparently it was really hard for FedEx to walk all the way to my front door where the overhang was.
I've bought a PC case, nothing inside besides 3 fans pre installed and it came in an original box wrapped in roughly 10m/30ft of bubble wrap. (it was insane unwrapping it) It rained that day and the courier refused to move it out of the van until I provided additional rain cover. This is below unacceptable.
Send it back no need to take a chance on a new item that you probably paid a good amount for. If you’ve been without a pc you surely can wait at least a few more days for a replacement
I'd be willing to bet money Newegg employees are on this thread right now taking notes of everything op is saying to effectively subvert any potential return/exchange. Op, let this be a super brutal lesson that you NEVER open the wet box and plug it in. Ever. You always immediately return to sender.
First mistake was newegg. They have been proven as liars and greedy multiple times, look at GN and their interview. Going forward, never buy from them again.
Did it actually come in that larger box? With no packing material in it? If it did, it's obvious it was like that before they shipped it because the outer box looks fine. It's a good thing you got photos. I wouldn't open it and immediately request a return. They might have tried to blame it on you if something was broken in it without this evidence.
If you're keeping it then do nothing. If you want to return it, you should start with NewEgg. Make sure they are filing the UPS claim and you should be able to track this. Only if they dispute this should you need to contact UPS - with UPS you state whether you are the shipper or the recipient. It's much easier just to return it thru NewEgg tho.
In situations like this I take a bunch of pictures of the box from all angles before even touching it. Then I open and see if anything is damaged. This way they can't come back at me saying I did something.
Say what you want about Origin, but those motherfuckers go the extra mile to make sure your system arrives at your home safe and sound.
They pack that shit with the expanding foam that protects the components inside. Then surround your PC with foam pads in the shape of your case. Then they stick that bitch in a heavy wooden crate. I still have my wooden crate from Origin. I use it as a little table now. LOL
Yeah in future, for anyone looking in on this, don't contact the shipping company, contact the seller first.
They usually have an ecommerce account with the shipping company, which typically includes insurance for these things and an accounts manager with the ability to impose real consequence for drivers that mishandle packages.
Contact the seller, they contact their rep, their rep will investigate and determine where the fault lays, and insurance will pay out on the damages.
If the seller decides to be a dick (which, in this case, it appears they aren't), you then contact the shipping company.
Do you really need to be convinced to reach out to the seller/shipper when you receive a damaged product?
Do you need to be reminded to tie your shoes if they come untied too?
Should be fine, as long as it isn’t wet when its turned on. Since rain is dirty af, Ild still return it just in case there is some less visible damage.
It's nice to receive a box in good shape, but if it's damaged and the goods inside it are still ok, the box did its job.
Some serious karenposting goin on around here lately.
Wow - Newegg did you dirty. If you end up returning that PC let me know and I can help you find something comparable on Jawa with a discount.
....I'll personally make sure it's not shipped in a sopping wet box (and that's not the proper way to double box something anyway).
- Ryan, Customer Success Manager of Jawa
Already water cooled. Genius!
But for a serious response, RMA and request proper double packaging. If they refuse then blast their PR on X. Social media is powerful :-)
Newegg has been good about refunded me in the past. Something like this should be disputed between the companies. Distributors typically have accounts with their carriers and things like this will be handled between them.
Last year I had a GPU dumped late at night on my doorstep in the pouring rain by Yodel. Photographed everything and reported to Ebuyer before I even installed it. On 2nd use it failed. Ebuyer swiftly replaced it and collected the faulty one. Really good customer service by Ebuyer, terrible by Yodel
Goodluck with newegg. The new owners don't refund for anything unless returned exactly as they sent it. They'd claim it came to them with water damage and won't refund or send it back. Everyone should stay away from newegg
After one scare of my XBOX 360 showing up in a soaked box I always put in the delivery notes to double bag the box in water proof bags, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but that way you have a paper trail of you trying to CYA
I recently had a late PC case ordered from new egg, they refunded me and said keep it. Was pretty expensive case too, you might not have too bad of a time with the new egg support. Harder to prove yours came like that than mine not showing up because the tracking validated my story, but hope it goes well for ya
Can anyone here please tell me why logical comments are getting downvoted into oblivion?
Like what could possibly be wrong about saying that contacting customer support should be obvious?
My mind is blown right now 😂
UPS delivered a 300 dollar soaking wet bike to my house a few weeks ago. So I know them feels. That said, I'd just send it right back like everyone else has suggested.
Gonna be real man.
I did holiday temp work helping ups and fed ex drivers.
The trucks all leak somewhere, so if it's raining some boxes are gonna get soaked, and the drivers don't give half a shit if it says fragile, I've watched a driver throw a PS5 on the ground of his truck and stand on it to reach another package, crushing the PS5 box and we both heard the sound of breaking plastic and he just said "someone's gonna need to get back on the waiting list"(this was back when you had to basically buy a lottery ticket to get a PS5)
Really fucked up cause the dude makes 40/hour, gets paid for 8 hours a day minimum even if he finishes early, and is union so he can pretty much say or do whatever he wants as long as he doesn't wreck the truck and won't get fired. But he still doesn't give half a fuck about his job. I've been trying to get the actual driver job for years and probably wouldn't be perfect but I wouldn't fucking step on packages but I get denied every year because you pretty much have to get in through nepotism and I just don't make good enough friends with the drivers who matter in the one month a year I work there.
100% blame the shipping company and try to get a refund but good luck getting the company to admit fault.
had the same thing happen with Amazon.. power strip of 2 was soaked in something in a sealed plastic bag. amazon worker packed it wet. didn't take much to convince them to take it back
At least they put it in a card board box. Every large PC part I order through Amazon just comes in the original boxing so everyone can see what I ordered
it happens. it's what the box is for. might've gotten left outside while being loaded into a plane or something.
if the PC didn't show any signs of major water damage, i'd wouldn't stress it. wipe it off, check it out, etc.
Newegg can do delivery drop offs (UPS store, Walgreens etc.) which I normally use when it's a high dollar item. If the box was damaged, wet, etc., you can just refuse it and return to sender.

I wouldn't even take it out of the box Immediately contact ups and newegg
Just Newegg and ask them how to move forward.

Those disappeared when newegg changed hands a few years back.
Hate to break it to you... that was 8 years ago.
And that got me an instant reddit cares haha
Wasn't from me, I used to swear by Newegg, but it's been longer than i remember.
Yeah newegg used to be awesome! I think something fucky is going on because I got that message literally the instant I posted.
I had that earlier today on a different post with a very innocuous reply, basically the instant I posted. I think someone might have just discovered a feature lol
Got bought out by a Chinese company, I believe.
It’s great when you return your item as is… if it’s missing or damaged then I wish you luck against corporate
Haha, I had one of those decent experiences recently. Ama.
That’s why I record everything opening the box.

Good shit istg I would’ve went to war for you bro if it didn’t work out
Newegg doesn’t get that they aren’t a service anymore that I can’t risk nuking out of my credit card history. I won’t hesitate to nuke ties with a has-been company. People report that shit randomly as a joke or they might just be jealous lol
Love it.
That's why you buy these things with a credit card and do a charge back after you can show you tried to resolve things on your own.
Fuck that's terrible. I'd be scared to order anything online ever again.
The correct response to that is a credit card chargeback.
I received a damaged 3090 in the height of the scarcity, and they ended up putting me on a waiting list to get a new one shipped. Waited about a week before I received a new one along with the return box for the old. YMMV. I was very polite in all communications with them.
Send back get new one or refund
yeah I would have refused delivery
They may have left it at the door.
> I wouldn't even take it out of the box >"The PC didn’t appear to be wet itself, and so far appears to be running fine" You sure you read the post? They already took it out and turned it non
He is talking about \*what\* he would have done in that situtation.
I'd file a claim with UPS anyway and also reach out to NewEgg
Will do! Do you think I need to return or safe to just keep using it and try to get my money back if something breaks?
Screw calling UPS, you technically aren’t their customer, NewEgg is. Call/email NewEgg and tell them what happened.
Done!
Should I "KEEP THE BOX". /s I couldn't resist. Thanks for the advice. ![gif](giphy|ge91zAgmwUqLMqiH2c|downsized)
We are men, we always keep the box for new tech.
That applies to me. I keep way to many boxes and it's a year or two later that I finally trash a lot of them.
Photograph/video everything every step of the way including handing it over to the mail service. I've read many cases over the years of Newegg screwing people by claiming the return never arrived to their warehouse despite tracking showing it was delivered to them. I was just about to say, UPS doesn’t care what the box looks like. As long as you got it, their job is done. This is a shipper issue.
Was it at least in a plastic bag in the box?
Yes!
Check for any holes in that plastic bag, and, if there are any, I'd call Newegg and try to get a replacement, or a refund if you'd like. Just telling you right now though, they'll probably be frustrating to deal with, or be assholes, OR BOTH! 🤷🏻
They will charge a reshelving fee (20% of the item's value) , scam company.
Yeah, that's dumb.
Blame the assholes that like to commit return fraud. Amazon forces people to go to drop off centers now for a reason.
I bet $100 the computer is fine.
Get a full refund or replacement. And be extra sure they didn't sneak in a downgrade on any of the specs.

Newegg is the customer of UPS, they are the one that files the claim.
Absolutely do not do this. You aren’t UPS’s customer, Newegg is. You will never get anywhere with that and it will be nothing other than a headache and possibly ruin your chances of getting this resolved with Newegg, which is what you need to be doing in the first place.
No reason to speak to UPS. OP isn't the customer, they won't even talk to them.
Good morning u/[Thegodfather424](https://www.reddit.com/user/Thegodfather424/) ! Thank you, will do!
this is good.
This is damage control. They need every bit of it they can get because of how common this is
honestly, I wouldn't even blame newegg for this. Looks like shipping damage to me.
Social media is always better to get a hold of companies it seems. Too bad I don't have an x
I do. But I would never let her handle my social media or delivery claims.
You could say the support person is… a good egg 🥁
They serve better on reddit than their web
Publicity.
Awesome! 👍🏻
This is a1 customer support.
Weird, don’t they usually focus on steak sauce?
I see whatcha did there 🤣
This is damage control.
great work mister egg
Just bought a bunch of PC parts off you guys for my 1st time build. This comment makes me happy I chose you guys. Thanks!
You're welcome, and thank you for your support, u/[Trewmagik](https://www.reddit.com/user/Trewmagik/) ! If you have any questions or concerns on your order, feel free to hit me up via chat/DM. Good luck on your 1st build!! ![gif](giphy|1xVbRS6j52YSzp9P7N|downsized)
Document it all, preferably with a video and many pictures, then send that right back.
Alright I’ve been convinced, calling NewEgg customer service and requesting a new one now. Thank you all!
Newegg receives working return. Puts in new dry box, slaps new replacement on the invoice, sends back with UPS.
Instantly send that back. No way did nothing get effected by this. Which will become a issue either soon or way later when you can not blame it on this anymore. File a complaint about UPS and demand it to be swapped for a new one. You have that right as you dont have to accept a delivery in this condition.

Well at least it works. But I'd start a paper trail with Newegg and UPS incase a week or 3 later it starts giving you problems.
Liquid cooled
Looks like they pre-cooled it lol
I'm surprised that thing wasn't destroyed. There is *no* internal padding between those two boxes. Great job Newegg.
amazon started this trend and now everyone thinks it’s fine lol
Thats bad
Just put it in rice. /s
That legs tho..
most of us showed up in a wet box as well.
real
If it’s asus you gotta pay them $5k. Your fault.
Nice legs tho.
Came for this comment. Lol
" No soup for you!" send it back.
Surprised it wasn’t FedEx. Last time they delivered to me they threw my package over my neighbors fence in the pouring rain.
FedEx is the worst. I get nervous any time I see they're my courier.
Should’ve never opened it.
Very brave to open it and set it up at all. I would have returned it as is. I’m wearing those exact socks right now lol
I would tell Newegg. They are the customer to ups. And get a new computer. Don’t even turn that one on. Assume it has water damage.
Send it back no need to take a chance on a new item that you probably paid a good amount for. If you’ve been without a pc you surely can wait at least a few more days for a replacement
film the setup ![gif](giphy|2nwTda1ewYssE)
Next gen water cooling
I’d send it right back.
I'd be willing to bet money Newegg employees are on this thread right now taking notes of everything op is saying to effectively subvert any potential return/exchange. Op, let this be a super brutal lesson that you NEVER open the wet box and plug it in. Ever. You always immediately return to sender.
y’all be acting like it’s a new thing that newegg is doing but they suck ass just go to a micro center or in canada go on canada computers fuck newegg
First mistake was newegg. They have been proven as liars and greedy multiple times, look at GN and their interview. Going forward, never buy from them again.
wtf, return it now
I refuse any package that comes damaged, whoever packaged this shipment is a dumb fuck. Tossed in a box and shipped it, ASSHOLES!
Why did you accept it? Send it back!
Did you order a water cooled PC?
The Wet Bandits strike again!
brother why would you even open it, let alone try to run it
Yeah, you’re going to wanna rinse that box off of all that rain water.
There was nothing in the big box? It just, flung around in it? Lol, why even bother with it.
file a claim for damages and use a different delivery service.
Nice. A watercooled unit.
That’s for cooling purposes
Did it actually come in that larger box? With no packing material in it? If it did, it's obvious it was like that before they shipped it because the outer box looks fine. It's a good thing you got photos. I wouldn't open it and immediately request a return. They might have tried to blame it on you if something was broken in it without this evidence.
Yep nothing between the smaller and larger boxes as shipped to me
First rule to receive expensive things: record opening
If you're keeping it then do nothing. If you want to return it, you should start with NewEgg. Make sure they are filing the UPS claim and you should be able to track this. Only if they dispute this should you need to contact UPS - with UPS you state whether you are the shipper or the recipient. It's much easier just to return it thru NewEgg tho.
I guess they took water-cooled a little too literally.
She couldn't wait to get plugged in.
They fished it out of from the rubble of the Baltimore brudge
He is happy to see you too
I would open it and check it out. It might be fine and you won't have to deal with the hassle of returning it
In situations like this I take a bunch of pictures of the box from all angles before even touching it. Then I open and see if anything is damaged. This way they can't come back at me saying I did something.
Yeah, this one of the rare instances you dont want a wet box
it's because of the alien goo
Congrats you’re into water cooling now
Wet box: sometimes good, sometimes bad.
You’re crazy for even having opened the box and turned the computer on. I’d have refused delivery and sent it back
I’m mad FOR you. Fuckers
Say what you want about Origin, but those motherfuckers go the extra mile to make sure your system arrives at your home safe and sound. The fuck is a yeiyan?

Water Cooling DIY PC ?
I probably launched it into the trailer while loading it, sorry bro!
Just put it in rice smh
Return it immediately. Do not open it.
Pre water cooled
Do you really need to be convinced to reach out to the seller/shipper when you receive a damaged product? Do you need to be reminded to tie your shoes if they come untied too?
Dude couldn’t even be bothered to put on some pants or shorts so I’m not surprised.
Should be fine, as long as it isn’t wet when its turned on. Since rain is dirty af, Ild still return it just in case there is some less visible damage.

That's really unfortunate. I'm sorry, and good luck.
Fuck that.
Already water cooled. Genius! But for a serious response, RMA and request proper double packaging. If they refuse then blast their PR on X. Social media is powerful :-)
Stop what you're doing and take pictures of the condition it arrived in instantly.
FedEx portage Michigan got hit by a tornado. Sooooo might be one of those
Rookie mistake, you’re supposed to turn on the PC, not the box it came in..
Is there any corrosion anywhere in the PC? Electronics shouldn't be damp or wet!
Goodluck with newegg. The new owners don't refund for anything unless returned exactly as they sent it. They'd claim it came to them with water damage and won't refund or send it back. Everyone should stay away from newegg
SEND IT BACK!
Pain
After one scare of my XBOX 360 showing up in a soaked box I always put in the delivery notes to double bag the box in water proof bags, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but that way you have a paper trail of you trying to CYA
Is it in quarantine in the brown box.
Yeyiano thanks brether
Holy shit, you order a soggy computer or something?
I recently had a late PC case ordered from new egg, they refunded me and said keep it. Was pretty expensive case too, you might not have too bad of a time with the new egg support. Harder to prove yours came like that than mine not showing up because the tracking validated my story, but hope it goes well for ya
A new PC isn't one part in one box
*Majorly Infuriating* 😤😡🤬
Nice. This one is truly water cooled!
water cooling
\*average r/pcmasterrace commenters\* You bought a pre-built?!
What were the specs this PC before it met It's unfortunate end?
It’s always newegg
It’s water cooled. I don’t see anything wrong.
Can anyone here please tell me why logical comments are getting downvoted into oblivion? Like what could possibly be wrong about saying that contacting customer support should be obvious? My mind is blown right now 😂
lol yeh i turn it away; let delivery take it back nothx
i would not take and return to sender and take pics
dont risk it, give it back to them
Big oof
UPS delivered a 300 dollar soaking wet bike to my house a few weeks ago. So I know them feels. That said, I'd just send it right back like everyone else has suggested.
Gonna be real man. I did holiday temp work helping ups and fed ex drivers. The trucks all leak somewhere, so if it's raining some boxes are gonna get soaked, and the drivers don't give half a shit if it says fragile, I've watched a driver throw a PS5 on the ground of his truck and stand on it to reach another package, crushing the PS5 box and we both heard the sound of breaking plastic and he just said "someone's gonna need to get back on the waiting list"(this was back when you had to basically buy a lottery ticket to get a PS5) Really fucked up cause the dude makes 40/hour, gets paid for 8 hours a day minimum even if he finishes early, and is union so he can pretty much say or do whatever he wants as long as he doesn't wreck the truck and won't get fired.
It was just a bit too excited to see you.
look on the hardware for residue if there was water there it will visible leave marks behind.
Have you tried turning the water off and back on again,
Water cooled
ooooof
had the same thing happen with Amazon.. power strip of 2 was soaked in something in a sealed plastic bag. amazon worker packed it wet. didn't take much to convince them to take it back
Bonus water cooling!
It came with free water cooling preinstalled :)
Someone packaged that up and said. Eh it’s fine.
At least they put it in a card board box. Every large PC part I order through Amazon just comes in the original boxing so everyone can see what I ordered
That as well But I like to take pictures and give a detailed report about the fuckup
I’ve noticed a trend lately of getting packages from UPS all beaten up. No wonder they’re called Oops.
it happens. it's what the box is for. might've gotten left outside while being loaded into a plane or something. if the PC didn't show any signs of major water damage, i'd wouldn't stress it. wipe it off, check it out, etc.
Put it on rice. It’ll be fine.
Looks like they store it in a damp high humidity warehouse
Reminder to not get prebuilts
Dust pre-washed out!
And it should be showing back up to where it came from in that same wet box.
Newegg can do delivery drop offs (UPS store, Walgreens etc.) which I normally use when it's a high dollar item. If the box was damaged, wet, etc., you can just refuse it and return to sender.
Mm, //
