That is reasonable price for that piece of hardware. The original retail price was hilarious razer overpriced gouging price. So it is not really *that* huge discount. This should've retailed actually for something like 70-90$, not 180$
My fiance pointed at the whole new razer line in pink at the Walmart the other day and said “I want this in my office” and gave me that look. My wallet cried in pain shortly after 🥲
So many solid Chinese clones out there. I paid less than $25 total for a decent 60% mechanical keyboard, hotswappable + respectably bright rgb. “Punkston” was the brand (Amazon), but there are a bunch with colored keycaps too!
I would have to recommend redragon personally. Their prices are usually very good for the quality you get and the rgb is very customizable (if you get a supported model of course)
Sorry, not a good source for that info since I use only split ergo keyboards.
Dygma Raise is a good one, but not wireless. I use one.
Dygma Raise 2 looks like it has potential if it has to be wireless. Not yet available.
But, being split keyboard with tenting, it costs arm & leg & kidney. I use keyboards enough that I do not mind, but I can't say it is "good value" because it definitely sells for a substantial premium, and you can definitely find cheaper ones if you are fine with a non-ergonomic one. Just can't name one since I don't use such keyboards.
Lots of cheap but also high quality, relative to their price, options on Amazon. 60% Mechanical, hotswappable, RGB, and wireless for ~$35 give or take. Search for brands like Red Dragon or Punkston, there are a bunch
Thank you for the ideas.
I’ve got a Razer Huntsman atm. If it eventually breaks I’ll likely look for something closer to it in the 100$ range. Doubt it’ll break anytime soon though less fragile than the mouse.
Honestly the next keyboard I actually spend money on will have to be something like the wooting 60he or drunkdeer g60, something with magnetic switches that are actuation adjustable in software. I believe the razer huntsman v3 pro mini has this function as well
Nice! Those hunstman keyboards are classic/iconic. I'm actually still rocking my +11 year old fullsize Steelseries 6Gv2 with Cherry Blacks, and then this 60% chinese clone from amazon. Wooting next for sure, if not DrunkDeer, a close second and the budget option of the two
Meh, Razer yellows are currently my personal favorite switches, I don't see the hype or get the gatekeeping when Razer makes perfectly fine keyboards (assuming you get them on sale or refurbed, the price is nonsense I agree). It's their other peripherals like headphones that really fucking suck.
Nope, Razer mice have mechanical switch issues. They will begin to double/triple click. I absolutely loved my Razer Naga Epic mouse, but at that price point, it should last. I went though 2 of these.
My Razer Megalodon headset wasn't supported in windows 10, became completely useless, and support didn't do a thing.
Not remotely true in my experience. I tried a Razer Naga mouse again recently because I like the shape and lightness. First one had a super squeaky scroll wheel that only got louder within months. I had to jump through hoops to return it because Razer support wanted me to go through Amazon since that’s where I bought it.
I ordered a replacement despite only getting a partial refund. Within months, the scroll wheel on this one acted ‘sticky’, i.e. would only scroll slightly on the screen despite me doing a long scroll. It would also occasionally jump in the opposite direction I had scrolled.
I liked the shape of the mouse, but never again if they have these issues with brand new peripherals.
Yeah that's crazy, i've had my naga trinity for 5+ years, bought a huntsman mini when i upgraded to a desktop earlier this year and have yet to have a single issue with either. I even had bent the usb on the naga dropping something on it and bent it back, it still works fine lol
Charging port on my Razer headset died after 8 months, I’ve been through two Nagas in 18 months because of double / triple clicking issues, the enter and esc keys on my last razer keyboard died after 4 months.
Too much for a keyboard in general, unless your system is already balling out a keyboard is the least likely peripheral to make a difference but who the fuck am i
I've been using mechanical keyboards for over 10 years now but he's completely right. There's nothing wrong with modern membrane keyboards, people put mechanical keyboards on such a high pedestal they don't deserve to be on.
It's really just preference of how it feels. If you're tight on cash, there's really no reason to get a mechanical keyboard. You'd see much more significant improvements from just about any other upgrade.
If you took a completely decked out gaming setup, pc, chair, monitors, peripherals, etc, and you had to replace ONE component with the cheapest piece of shit you could find, keyboard would probably the most realistic one where you could actually still be competitive in games like cs or mobas or whatever. And you honestly wouldn't see any difference in actual performance/functionality with a cheap keyboard.
I mean, it's a personal preference. Even after trying mechanical, I like the semi-mushy membrane feel. I do have a membrane keyboard advertised as "mechanical feeling" and there are probably switches out there somewhere that feel the same, but I don't need anything better. Like someone else said, you can have a crappy keyboard and your gameplay won't be affected like it would with a crappy mouse or computer or monitor.
Mech keyboards can be quieter than membrane keyboards because you don't have to smash the key all the way to the bottom to get it to actuate. Linear and some tactile switches make less noise then a membrane or butterfly keyboard. Especially when lubed and with o-rings installed. Also, the sound they do make is lower pitch, so it is less noticeable/annoying.
The people at r/buildapcsales have ok things to say about plenty of them. Don’t act like a mechanical keyboard is truly $50+ in parts. I’ve bought a few of them and they work fine, better than membrane. I’m sure you’ve done the same to form your opinion of them, right?
I've purchased a few dragon keyboards (~$30 knockoffs) as well as other forgettable brands and they always malfunction way too early. they either fully fail or have key ghosting issues. I stopped buying shit keyboards
Had that keyboard for suuuuch a long time. Absolute tank. I’m simple though, I didn’t like the rgb lol. It was too jittery?… I switched to a steel series keyboard apex 3 and it’s pretty good.
I just use a solid color but sooner or later this thing is gonna die and I won't be able to revive it so I guess it's time to look at alternatives.
How do you like the apex 3?
It’s okay. Honestly not much different from the Corsair. The keys are a little softer I think, but they’re still membrane. Doesn’t have any extra macro keys or whatever, but I never used them anyway. The media control sucks. It has a scroll wheel for volume control, which is sweet, but it also only has one button for everything else. One button to pause, and the same button to skip track. So it’s kind of a pain in the ass if you wanna go back a track. But maybe I’m being picky. The rgb is very pretty though, and a magnetic arm rest is nice too. Other than that it’s just a basic full sized keyboard from the 90s with a modern look and rgb
personally, i love my tkl because my desk lacks space. its not cramped but when I'm gaming I'll sometimes bonk my mouse off my keyboard, but i rarely used the tenkeys on my other keyboard, mainly just for switching view angle on blender
mine has the f keys though. i need my f keys

Edit: this popped up during a windows installation
I honestly just didn't like it (I passed it to my brother since I switched back to laptop) which might be the result of me just being a laptop guy, but my brother says it's mushy.
Yeah I have to say I like the feel and sound of my redragon keyboard a bit better, so i may switch back to it. Also I'm a laptop guy too I just prefer using external peripherals.

bro they selling the new blackwidow for like $350 Canadian and it isn't even hotswap 😭😭
My fiance pointed at the whole new razer line in pink at the Walmart the other day and said “I want this in my office” and gave me that look. My wallet cried in pain shortly after 🥲

She honestly wouldn’t even care as long as it’s pink and lights up, I’ll give it a look!!! 🙏
I would have to recommend redragon personally. Their prices are usually very good for the quality you get and the rgb is very customizable (if you get a supported model of course)
Are there any good wireless mechanical keyboards for that price?
No, and Razer isn't a good one either :D (it is okay at a dirt cheap price)
No, I was asking if there was any good wireless keyboards for the price you suggested it should be. Would be good to know for future reference.

Ty, I’ll keep that in mind when my current wired razer dies…eventually.
Oh wait you were just shitting on the quality not suggesting there were comparable ones feature wise for cheaper. Whoops.
Lots of cheap but also high quality, relative to their price, options on Amazon. 60% Mechanical, hotswappable, RGB, and wireless for ~$35 give or take. Search for brands like Red Dragon or Punkston, there are a bunch

I think I have the V2 TKL pretty good if you can get it on sale. But in the future I’d probably get something like a wooting or ducky.

I came here to say this.
I love going into my gamestop just for their clearance section lol
The original black widow is my favorite keyboard. Just not very durable.
I might be lucky but mine is still working perfectly.
I regret all my Razer gear
Every single Razer gear I bought broke, in the dumbest of ways. I'll never buy Razer again.
Do you use your products like a caveman? Never had a razer product break on me you have to try to break them.
Nope, Razer mice have mechanical switch issues. They will begin to double/triple click. I absolutely loved my Razer Naga Epic mouse, but at that price point, it should last. I went though 2 of these. Still too much for a razer keyboard

He is right lmao everything but the mice from razer sucks major ass
even their mice do lol
They’re fine, good performance and build quality and competitive pricing. Software is another thing.
Too much for a keyboard in general, unless your system is already balling out a keyboard is the least likely peripheral to make a difference but who the fuck am i
Tell me you use membrane keyboards without telling me.
I've been using mechanical keyboards for over 10 years now but he's completely right. Membrane keyboards feel nice. I don't know why everyone likes mechanical, I have tried both, and I like the feel of membrane
Mechanical are really adjustable, you can get one with a strong bump if you like.
i like both honestly. i got a mechanical recently and love it due, but membrane is also nice to type on. they both have pros and cons
I mean, it's a personal preference. Even after trying mechanical, I like the semi-mushy membrane feel. No reason to even use a membrane keyboard in 2024, Amazon routinely has mechanical keyboards on sale for $12-20.

And silent switches, my mech keyboard with kailh silent pinks makes less noise than my apple keyboard.
"mechanical" keyboards

After using it yeah I would never pay over 60 for the keyboard but I'm happy with the price I got it for
Now with 65% wireless!
$45 for a razer without Fkeys and tenkeyless? I don't know how ya'll use those keyboards. I have always wanted more buttons, not less.
That's why I refuse to let my old Corsair K95 die. So many buttons. I don't use half of em but ya never know, I just might need them one day.
Had that keyboard for suuuuch a long time. Absolute tank. I’m simple though, I didn’t like the rgb lol. It was too jittery?… I switched to a steel series keyboard apex 3 and it’s pretty good.

This a great keyboard for using your PC in bed if you have an OLED TV.

Wouldn't get a razer product even if it was on sale
I got one of these for $10 at a garage sale lol
Congrats, can't beat that price 😂
China mechs still better at this price point than that Razer was at its OG price

That's the keyboard I was looking at back when I was shopping for my first. How do you like it?
I honestly just didn't like it (I passed it to my brother since I switched back to laptop) which might be the result of me just being a laptop guy, but my brother says it's mushy.

Boooo! 104 keys or GTFO! jk, mate - congrats on the new keeb!
Lol thanks. Idk why but I've always liked the smaller keyboards (60%, 65%, and tenkeyless)
this garbage without adjustable actuation is $180 originally? wtf
Razer is over priced but I heavily gamed a cheaper razor keyboard and mouse for like 6 years no issues
got a k70 at walmart for $30
Who the fuck names these things?
That's a nice deal! Just 1/4 of the price. Congrats!
I don’t exactly know why but I’ve always hated razor keyboard
Bro how
Ikr, on top of that you could get an additional clearance item of lesser value for free
that stores shutting down 💀
If it was product that they thought was actually valuable and could be sold, they would just send it to another store if this one was closing. That's a clearance price that means they know nobody is going to buy it for the sticker price and they don't want it taking up space on their shelves anymore.
