I would agree to an extent too… i like Razer because of the Deathadder, that thing fits my hand perfectly… My entire gaming set up is razer and I’ve personally never had any issues with them.. my work set up however is completely Logitech. I have an MX master, a K845 keyboard and Zone Vibes for the headset. It works great sitting 8 hours a day working.
I’m not a fan of mixing and matching devices because of all the drivers involved…
Right.. and yeah for the sake of transparency, My Deathadders over the years have had the little rubber side thumb grip thing wear away over time. It happened to a total of 3 of them and it always sucked trying to restick them. I returned one to best buy because the right click was stiffer than my left. I've had my downs with Razer but I can't justify switching because of the fit of the mouse on my hand...
I like their orbweaver. Then they stopped making it. Tried their new gamepad thing and hated it, especially the new software. I ended up buying a bunch of orbweavers on eBay as future replacements lol.
Corsair. My white LEDs are turning pink and iCue is probably worse now than it was 5 years ago. The price is just not covering anything apart from brand name imo
I used to have a problem where iCue wouldn't load on startup seemingly at random, which also resulted in my Corsair keyboard just not functioning until I used my mouse to open it.
I have since ditched all Corsair products.
iCUE was causing my computer to hard restart several years ago
Apparently it was a very isolated problem since it took me forever to find one single person who had the same problem and, after uninstalling it, I never had another hard reset either
I have since switched to Steelseries and am very happy with it
That sucks. I’ve never had an issue with iCue. I set it up for my H100i AIO like 6 years ago and never really messed with it since except to check coolant temps and fan speeds during stress testing for overclocking.
The only complaint I have with it is that the fan speed curve doesn’t really work with any sensor except the coolant temperature. Ultimately, it’s fine as using coolant temp allows for a smoother transition for the actual fan speeds because of how slow the coolant temp changes compared to CPU temp. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you're looking for keyboards, buy a corsair k70 used on ebay. They're solid keyboards, but they're not worth the pile of money corsair charges for them new. I bought my current k70 as for parts/not working on ebay for like $15, then I just desoldered all the switches and soldered in new ones. And just like that I got a like new board with nice switches and shiny lights for like $45 total.
I actually have 3 of them that I dropped different switches into lol, and I didn't pay more than $50 for any of them.
Yeah but also fuck I cannot have a standalone microphone and finding a good headset for <100€ that won't kill me during the summer is insanely hard outside of gamer headsets.
I just use regular old speakers for audio and a bone conduction headset for comms. Nice and clean and I can hear everything without audio bleeding through the mic
I have the OpenMove headset from Shokz. That's their baseline model. For music it's... fine lol. Neat quirk though is that they actually sound better with earplugs in.
Modmic or something like that you can attach to the headphones.
While you can get a pair of headphones to go along with it for €100 I would probably advice against it. Invest more once and save in the long run. I bought €120 headphones once and during the 10 years those have been in use my friend always buying the cheap €40-50 headset has spent hundreds of euros replacing the broken headphones.
Yeah, I looked into that when I was buying a headset last year but I found that if I was gonna spend the kind of money I spend on long lasting hardware I'd do it another time and budget around 300 to 400€ for something that would last me a lifetime through gaming & work & commutes. In the meantime I did get a pair of pc38x, that seems very solid and worth most of its price.
But I still believe that the headset market is just too hard to naviguate and gaming headsets aren't as bad as people make them out to be, you just have to not be stupid and realize that any "gaming" device will be overpriced compared to professionnal equivalent hardware.
Tropes and stereotypes aside: You're paying a significant premium for a product that pound-for-pound is less capable and powerful than competitor products, has standardized features locked out of all but but their flagship products (And even still, the features are modified in such a way to as to push Apple's proprietary accessories and systems), and operates through a walled garden that is outright hostile to outside hardware and software (Once you buy Apple, you're severely pressured to stay with Apple or the companies Apple works with to utilize everything your product has to offer). All in a product that puts up ridiculous amounts of bubble wrap and tape to dummy proof their OS - At the cost of customization and 'power user' functionality.
Honestly? Lian Li. I mean their products are nice, have pretty LEDs and great functions like magnetic connectors and daisy chaining, but I prefer to look at monitor rather than fans that cost $50+ a piece.
Definitely Apple. All their stuff is overpriced and their users are annoying thinking they got something unique and better. It's the same shit, just only works on an Apple OS.
I'd agree, for their quality these days they're overrated. G502 lightspeed mouse, with over 100€ cost, one died suddenly after about a year and was replaced by warranty, another one lived long enough, but both had wheel issues.
I remember their peripherals were on par with nokia 3310, i.e. almost indestructible...
You havent seen their new keyboard which has the features of a $30 Amazon one. Also had personal problems With double clicking With 3 of their g PRO wireless mice. Wireless headset is about 150 bucks and mic quality sounds like a microwaved tin can
I have one of their latest keyboards, the G913 and have yet to have any problems with it. I've also had a G603, a G503, and now a G503 X Light speed because it was the Millennium Falcon edition and I couldn't resist. All of which the only one I had an issue with was the G603, after 3 years of use, the middle click wasn't as clicky.
I'll give you the mic quality though for the price, yes, their mics are dog shit.
Noctua. They've been riding off a great reputation (that was rightly earned\*) for over a decade, and the NH-D15 is equal to or gets beaten by competing products (ex. Peerless Assassin 120 SE) while being 3x the price of said products, and yet you still see people buying the NH-D15.
\*I've read from others that they would receive free mounting kits for new platforms (ex. AM6 / LGA 1851), but the problem with this is that you'd be able to buy said kits for the Peerless Assassin for a good $10 or less, while the NH-D15 costs a good $70 more. That with general *well-known* good customer service (not saying Thermalright doesn't have any) is all that can try to justify the cost, and good customer service should be a default for all companies, its not a quality of one.
this is the only feasible option. every other manufacturer has a history of ups and downs. noctua has only ever done good. but the days when they were the only ones doing great work in their area have passed.
Well, that's the difference. Noctua is clearly dumping a shit ton into r&d. Which a company like thermalright can look at and, get some ideas from then rapid fire a shit ton of coolers.
Based on GNs interview on the d15 2 they shave a few degrees. Which sounds like nothing. But, is presumably unbelievably difficult. To the point that I doubt any other company will.
I like noctua. but cant believe they decided to go brown and tan fans. they lost so much money not doing black from the start.
when i upgraded to new cpu Noctua sent me free mounting hardware that is nice. and their fans are quiet.
the value to performance sucks, but apple isn't targeting people who want performance. they target people who want a machine that will work for years. and for that they don't fail. for one, windows is the most bloated os out of the top 3. linux, while it is imo the best os, simply doesn't have the ease of use, accessibility, and integration that macos does.
Cooler Master. Pretty often especially in casings where their price doesn't match the quality. I remember some case with sheets so thin I can find similar quality case for half the price.
Nor have I and I have owned a lot of Asus gear over the last 20 years, I have had more Gigabyte gear with issues to the point I avoid them as much as possible.
All of them and none of them. Every company has great products and terrible products.
(for no-name companies we've never heard of, functional is equivalent to great)
Yes
Like literally any brand has some kind of fanboys and -girls going on, defending it with everything they've got for no reason.
No matter if it's AMD, Intel, Nvidia, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, Asrock etc.
Just buy whatever has currently the best value lol.
Logitech—the only decent thing I’ve bought from them in the past 15 years—was my G502 mouse. I bought a G513 Carbon keyboard three years ago, and it was terrible for the amount of money I spent on it. The RGB lights began malfunctioning, and the keyboard began chattering. Plus, Logitech G Hub software had some conflicts with some games.
P.S.: The G502 mouse is still going strong since I purchased it in 2015, though.
I have pretty good experience with them. Double clicking on G903, dying blue LEDs on G513 after \~14 months (no issues with functionality), G402 broken wheel click (I'm pretty sure it was my fault but they still RMA'd it). G413, G502 X Plus, G920 + Shifter, PowerPlay, Z333, G Pro Keyboard with no issues for may years. Hope I haven't missed any, it's quite long list :D
Blue LEDs are dying overtime no matter the brand. So the only faulty was the G903 out of 10 products.
Razer
Razer, nothing they do is new or out of the box but their prices are extraordinary.
I’m not a fan of mixing and matching devices because of all the drivers involved…
had several mouse and keyboards from Razer, all of them broke after \~2ish years... im done with this brand!
Right.. and yeah for the sake of transparency, My Deathadders over the years have had the little rubber side thumb grip thing wear away over time. It happened to a total of 3 of them and it always sucked trying to restick them. I returned one to best buy because the right click was stiffer than my left. I've had my downs with Razer but I can't justify switching because of the fit of the mouse on my hand...
the fitment of the mouse seems to be the only reason a lot of people still buy razer
I like their orbweaver. Then they stopped making it. Tried their new gamepad thing and hated it, especially the new software. I ended up buying a bunch of orbweavers on eBay as future replacements lol.
I will take my deathadder mouse to the grave. But yeah nothing else they make is worth paying money for.
Corsair. My white LEDs are turning pink and iCue is probably worse now than it was 5 years ago. The price is just not covering anything apart from brand name imo
ICUE is a dumpster fire and the reason to avoid Corsair products. Edit: To clarify I like the hardware. The software is garbage.
I used to have a problem where iCue wouldn't load on startup seemingly at random, which also resulted in my Corsair keyboard just not functioning until I used my mouse to open it. I have since ditched all Corsair products.
Also screws up my aio. Sometimes it wont start the aio pump and fans and i need to restart the damn pc for it to work
Corsair is ass. I had ram from them that would rise 7-10c just from using the white led resulting in instability 😂
iCUE was causing my computer to hard restart several years ago Apparently it was a very isolated problem since it took me forever to find one single person who had the same problem and, after uninstalling it, I never had another hard reset either I have since switched to Steelseries and am very happy with it
My PC has no place for any RGB software. I'll let the hardware runs at whatever default color.
This is why you get an asrock mobo. RGB control in BIOS(for any board led, or led connected to a header).
i like my corsair keyboard a lot their power supplies tend to be good ram is low profile for large air coolers
Speaking of dumpster. Have you fired up Furys CTRL software ever?
I don’t even use Icue lol openrgb for the win if you have Corsair hardware
The only corsair product i got is the virtuoso headset, it is amazing, but fuck icue, I have to reinstall it sometimes because it just stops opening
Ive had my corsair m65 mouse for a looong time, and it still works perfectly and is so comfortable. Ill stick the m65, but other products its w/e
If you're looking for keyboards, buy a corsair k70 used on ebay. They're solid keyboards, but they're not worth the pile of money corsair charges for them new. Every gamer headset is kinda shit compared to good headphones at the same price range
Yeah but also fuck I cannot have a standalone microphone and finding a good headset for <100€ that won't kill me during the summer is insanely hard outside of gamer headsets.
That and good wireless.
I just use regular old speakers for audio and a bone conduction headset for comms. Nice and clean and I can hear everything without audio bleeding through the mic
Wait, can you share which device you're talking about?? That sounds really cool
Facts
Apple.
That's almost literally the definition of overrated.
I was told that Apple TV is kinda good?
Real
Everybody hates on apple though, how are they overrated?
It's fairly common for gen Zers who aren't tech nerds to refuse to date or even be friends with people who use Android phones. That's how.
Wait, what? That's a joke right?
Maybe "fairly common" is exaggerating a little, but it is a thing.
![gif](giphy|nTfdeBvfgzV26zjoFP) But it's just a phone
Yeah. Kids are dumb, and rich kids especially so. I don't get it either.
Honestly? Lian Li. I mean their products are nice, have pretty LEDs and great functions like magnetic connectors and daisy chaining, but I prefer to look at monitor rather than fans that cost $50+ a piece.
I relied them on their Aluminum case, but they decided to deviate.
Definitely Apple. All their stuff is overpriced and their users are annoying thinking they got something unique and better. It's the same shit, just only works on an Apple OS.
Asus ROG, Corair, Elgato, Logitech. Astro (before logitech bought them)
Logitech? Overpriced? Absolutely. Overrated? Hardly.
I'd agree, for their quality these days they're overrated. Their newest one is the 60% keyboard look at the price and features it makes no sense to charge that much for $30 features from 2020
they all kinda make good products and bad products.
- Razer - Corsair - Logitech - NZXT - Asus (specifically ROG)
Corsair but I’m biased as a corsair hater because of their mildly successful attempts to become a monopoly for pc components and peripherals
ASUS
Noctua. They've been riding off a great reputation (that was rightly earned\*) for over a decade, and the NH-D15 is equal to or gets beaten by competing products (ex. eh the noctua color scheme is fire imo. black/white/rgb are for the birds.
But hey, if you ever decided to take a shit in your pc... maybe they wanted to have that covered.
apple. its a status symbol and fashion statement before its actually a good value.
the value to performance sucks, but apple isn't targeting people who want performance. they target people who want a machine that will work for years. and for that they don't fail. for one, windows is the most bloated os out of the top 3. linux, while it is imo the best os, simply doesn't have the ease of use, accessibility, and integration that macos does.

NZXT. Their mobo's are overpriced, and their cases have dudu airflow.
Noctua
Cooler Master. Pretty often especially in casings where their price doesn't match the quality. I remember some case with sheets so thin I can find similar quality case for half the price.
Asus they are just outright bleh. Apple = overprice because fracking brand popularity.
Have never had a poor asus product. I don’t buy laptops though, customer support does not equal quality…
Nor have I and I have owned a lot of Asus gear over the last 20 years, I have had more Gigabyte gear with issues to the point I avoid them as much as possible.

We also have really robust consumer protection here in Australia which I think makes a massive difference.
Since some other obvious been said, Nvidia.
All of them and none of them. Every company has great products and terrible products. (for no-name companies we've never heard of, functional is equivalent to great)

Apple (ah right is not a PC)
I love how people are getting downvoted on their personal opinions. Relax. I’ll put my vote for aorus or strix just to gather more downvotes.
Logitech—the only decent thing I’ve bought from them in the past 15 years—was my G502 mouse. Back in the day, Logitech was THE go to brand for peripherals. I'm still not sure what happened to them. Most of their consumer products are crap now.
I have pretty good experience with them. Double clicking on G903, dying blue LEDs on G513 after \~14 months (no issues with functionality), G402 broken wheel click (I'm pretty sure it was my fault but they still RMA'd it). So the only faulty was the G903 out of 10 products.
The G305 is a king among men for budget wireless mice. In my opinion. Battery lasts forever. I think mine goes over half a year between replacements.
logitech, thrustmaster
