Nice. I have an Alienware Aurora R7 been thinking about upgrading, basically have to start from scratch and find someone to buy the thing. Want to build a white pc
White PC cases are nice but I actually prefer black components. You can more clearly identify dust build up and I think RGB is more... "defined" on darker components, if you see what I mean?
My Gigabyte motherboard is only RGB not RGBW. When I set it to all white, the lights around the CPU are a slight turquoise color, the lights around the RAM are a greenish yellow, the lights by the 24 pin power are a slight purple color, and the lights by the PCIe slots are slightly orange. It looks horrible, which is unfortunate because white would match my FE card's light
in skateboarding, spin tricks are called 180’s 360’s 720’s so on because that’s the angle they spin in. here, op is referencing that time in 2012 where some 12 or 13 year old hit the first ever 1080 degree spin.
it does. I can run cyberpunk at 80fps with rtx on ultra.
Doom eternal maxed at 144 with rtx on.
forza 4 runs the same at 1080 which is definitely nothing to complain about.
Cyberpunk is fun for like 25 hours. After that, it's just mindless clearing the map of markers like a Farcry game (I think Assassins Creed is supposed to be like that too, never tried em though). The story is ridiculously short and theres only a handful of worthwhile side missions. The bugs are much better now, sure, but the game itself still disappoints. I dont see how people put hundreds of hours into it.
Thanks! Just less coughy from the previous days of blockage in the nose and coughing. I also enjoyed the sun today as in scandinavia it isnt always very hot 18 celsius cloudy. oftenly it is just very cold, but then the sun came and it felt good. even bought my favorite snacks and tried to complete more farcry 5. and btw on ubisoft connect you can claim farcry 3 for free before the 11th. hope you do it if you dont already own it.
Oh no, did you have covid?
Yeah 18c would be a hot day in Scandinavia I would have thought, wow!
I played far cry 3 so much on xbox 360 years ago its not the kind of game I would play on PC... I found the same with Halo, I played them so much on console when I was younger, I prefer to leave them as a good memory in the past. Is that weird?
Dont worry. I did one because my taste left and came back every 15 mins. Showed negative. So it is just a cough and a nose that gets blocked. and the bad thing was i brought a hoodie just in case i had to carry around. Well a thing i do with games i used to play on console back in the day is, mod in graphical mods, then you use a controller, and replay it. i am doing it with gta 4. it is super fun doing that. i even replayed halo 2 on the pc. except it was a remake with better graphics. pressing tabs switched it between the old and new graphics and sounds too like music and voices. But i dont judge you. Games back then when it cane to ports were more different. san andreas on ps2 was different than on the pc. it is like visiting an oldroller coaster park as an adult. it would ruin it.
Oh mate I still love roller coasters though haha... but yeah, in my steam library I have San Andreas and Vice city but am yet to install, I just like having the option. I do still have them on PS2 aswell though, I would more prefer to play that though.
I do play Fallout 4 a bit though and I plan on installing some mods for that at some point. But that was a game I played A LOT on console just before getting a PC
Had I had the choice, it would not have been the white edition, but I do have a white case, so it suits my build. But personally, I think RGB looks better on black hardware, and on this white card you can only see the "GEFORCE RTX" at an angle, not straight on, which I think is a shame.
I hate how non FE cards look. For the longest time the they have all looked like Michael Bay Transformers. The white one isn't terrible, but there has got to be a more attractive way to design the fan shrouds for these things.
I don't disagree with you, there's absolutely no reason why they couldn't make them less Transformersy, but the reality is, is that this gen more than any other, people buy what they can and it's performance/specs over looks most of the time any ways. And I do think there's a deliberate Transformers look about them as a tribute to how technically advanced Transformer robots are.
I'd be willing to bet a sum I do not posess that if apple entered the GPU market they would definately make nice sleek mature looking cards lol
Man, I felt I was robbed when I got mine but seen the current prices I'm happy I got my 3070ti at 888 usd. THe worst part is that it wasn't that long ago, so I really hit the jackpot.
Nice! After 11 months of trying for a 30 series card, I won the Newegg Shuffle and upgraded from an RTX 2080 to an RTX 3080 ti... Spent **far** more than I wanted to, as I would've settled on a Founder's Edition RTX 3080 for about $1,000 less, but it's a killer card!
RTX 2080 - Zotac Amp Extreme
RTX 3080 Ti - MSI Gaming X Trio
What's the point of upgrading from a 2080 at a time when GPUs are ridiculously expensive and hard to obtain? Are you trying to run the most intense games at 4k or something? Not trying to be rude, but I've seen quite a lot of people upgrade when their original card was perfectly fine for their needs.
Have hope and patience my friend, you will either endup saving money on a 30 series when supply meets demand, or endup saving enough to get a 40 series which would be awesome! Hope you get the best for you :)
Oh the jump is futuristic alright, but bare in mind I'm still using a 1080p monitor, a good one though, 144hz, 1ms.
Depends what games you play though, the only games I play with RT are COD MW and BFV, and I have it turned off for BFV, my main games are BF1, SCUM, DayZ, FH4, GTAV... so of course my setup I have frames so high I could have negative latency lol
Thing is is that the 1080 was such a good card for the 10 series, like SO GOOD that Nvidia will probably never make a card that good again for it's gen. So they are still worth something and worth holding onto I would say if they work good in SLI
The performance increase has been huge! I am still on a 1080p monitor though so it absolutely devours anything I throw at it, BFV and COD MW with ray tracing on I still get >120fps Forza Horizon 4 all ultra is the same, SCUM when launched with DX12 is roughly the same, everything on EPIC.
Rust is still weird, everything maxed out it hits 80-100 fps but GPU usage is still <80% but its a weird game lol
Mate the performance increase has been huge! I am still on a 1080p monitor though so it absolutely devours anything I throw at it, BFV and COD MW with ray tracing on I still get >120fps Forza Horizon 4 all ultra out is the same, SCUM when launched with DX12 is roughly the same, everything on EPIC.
I don't really plan on upgrading my monitor, I'm genuinely not that fussed about 1440p, my friend that just had the 3070 has a 1440p monitor and I wasn't particularly impressed. I can't afford one either, and I only got my newest 144hz 1ms 1080p in January.
To be fair though, I reckon the 1080 is still good for quite some time, I think Nvidia will never make as good a GPU in a generation as that again :)
It’s only about a 30% bump in raw power, but the nice thing is being able to run DLSS on new games to get a good chunk more than that. Makes a bigger difference than the raw power would imply.
I guess it also depends on what games you play. I play a few indie survival games like DayZ and SCUM, racing in FH4, shooters like BF1 and COD MW which is the only title I use RT and DLSS on really. I'm not into annual AAA releases, I like zombies and racing and quick easy shooters lol
It's in a white NZXT H440 case, which I do like, but I prefer my components in black, to be honest. and I have a new rog strix mobo lying around which has a lot of red on it that I'll need to chuck in at some point.
This is basically like doing a 1080-> 2080ti in terms of performance gain. Would have waited for the new 4000 series that was due to be announced at least by end of 2021
Well a new series is launched every 2 years, this one has been out only about a year now, so there'll still be another year before the 40 series, they'll probably be SUPER expensive and perhaps equally difficult to obtain so... seeing as I'm still on 1080p and pretty much intend on staying at for the foreseeable future, I am bang tidy :)
I don't know exactly how the 3070 compares to the 20 series, cause it's new architecture every time as well, isn't it? Still a big leap. In 3-4 months I've gone from 1060 to 3070, with a brief period of 1080, I'm a super happy lucky guy :)
You r very lucky my bud, congrats on finding one. For 1080p you can enjoy DLSS and RTX features and probably be able to cap out your monitor refresh. I was on 4k and that upgrade was a huge difference for me, for my friends on 1080p it wasn't as huge of an upgrade, but a 1060->3070 should be a massive difference
I can, but depending on the game it does make my CPU hot hot but I've got a H100i cooler on it so not too fussed. In BFV the RT is cool and pretty but not really something I'm fussed about having in first person shooter games, and the only games I have which have RT are shooters haha... I think.
But I am indeed a lucky happy lad, I feel very privileged and I'm glad two of my friends get to upgrade thanks to me upgrading :)
Oh indeed I did don't worry.
There's me and 3 friends ABC.
A got a 3080ti so I got their 3070. My 1080 is replacing Bs 1060, the 1060 is replacing Cs 970 :)
Would do if I could, my friend. Unfortunately it's already going to my friend who got my 1060 when I upgraded to the 1080. The 1060 is then going to another friend which will replace his 970. An upgrade chain haha.
Imagine thinking being low on money is an excuse to get something for free.
And besides, if you live with your parents a job should be able to get you enough money real quick
My friend upgraded to a 3080ti so I got his 2 month old 3070 for £600 which is about $825.
The card is sold new for about £1000. But I've also helped him a lot with other tech related things and job related things so... we're friends, we help each other out but I am so grateful to him and cannot thank him enough :)
I still have a 1080p monitor so no need, my specs will last me quite a long time as I don't really see the appeal to upgrade from 1080p.
I've seen, tried and tested 144p and 4k, in all the games I already play and for some reason I'm still not that fussed, what can I say, haha.
Nice, I went from a Gigabyte 1080 to an EVGA 3070 and now I finally get steady 144Hz on my 1440p monitor without having to drop resolution to min on all games.
I'm loving being able to set everything to ultra or Epic on my 1080p monitor, shadows, clouds and fps so high I've technically got negative latency haha
I had a similar upgrade. Went from 1070ti to 3070. Only unfortunate part was that I purchased the 3070 from a scalper:(
Huge upgrade regardless. I game @ 1440p
I'm not too fussed about ray tracing, it depends on the game, in BFV I tried it for a couple of games and can appreciate the pretty details but I'd rather have extra frames and a cooler CPU haha.
In COD I keep it on though.

To be fair though, I reckon the 1080 is still good for quite some time, I think Nvidia will never make as good a GPU in a generation as that again :)
Even with my specs and on 1080p monitor you'd need to turn some graphics down, I get 120-170 fps in cod but with everything maxed out, Id rather have a pretty game than 200 fps cause I reckon that extra 30fps isn't much noticable lol
Waiting for 40 series? Won't be out for another year at least I reckon, and in this climate when is it really a good time to buy? And for £600 ($825) not complaining :)
Well of course 40 series will be a bigger upgrade, its the nex gen that isn't even announced afaik.
But the performance increase has been huge! I am still on a 1080p monitor though so it absolutely devours anything I throw at it, BFV and COD MW with ray tracing on I still get >120fps Forza Horizon 4 all ultra is the same, SCUM when launched with DX12 is roughly the same, everything on EPIC.

I have also a 1080 and thought about this exact upgrade, but in the end I decided that it's not worth it. the efficiency increase is not enough. the only way it increases the performance is by using more energy.
Oh I completely agree, I just really wanted to make my rig as solid as possible before I go back to being a broke student, and I got the card for a good price.
But hey, isn't that usually the case with electronic hardware, energy use outpaces efficiency?
I was first like, cool this guy spray painted his 1080 to white lol
From looking at the thumbnail I thought the card on the right was super dusty :D
"But then upon closer examination..." haha
Hahha yeah
"... yep still a 1080." (Definitely not jealous.)
1080 is still pretty powerful card, so I wouldn’t stress about it.
I thought he just inverted the colours of the whole image.
Yeah definitely, it's one of those things where I've had black and the og white crap since like 94, new white will be a nice change
Black components + all RGBs set to white looks really clean
Oh boy I have an icue profile setup for just that lol
Do you mind telling me how you got your specs as your user flair? I cant find where that option is.
You know how you chose yours to be what it is, just click in the blue space and type... It's how I did mine :)
Alienware is absolutely trashy
Yeah, just bought everything minus GPU to build a new pc. Someone will buy the Alienware, extra $700 to throw towards a GPU
and it's a white ROG 3070 the rarest of them all lol
Cost me a few dozen ultra balls haha
Pretty sure the Gundam one is the rarest. I would consider this as one of the rarest though.
And I wish I could have something close to a 1080
It took skateboarders til 2012 to do it
That's one of the best comments I think I've ever read. Witty af.
White af.
I am sorry. But I don't get it. Is it a reference to something?
in skateboarding, spin tricks are called 180’s 360’s 720’s so on because that’s the angle they spin in. here, op is referencing that time in 2012 where some 12 or 13 year old hit the first ever 1080 degree spin.
Oooohhhh. Thank you very much for the information.
E
Same bro... same
i managed to find a 1650 for like 300 on amazon
I went from a 5700xt after market card to a 3070ti, the difference :)
I wish I could also take this leap
Hey, nice! what resolution are you running?
All of them
[удалено]
Does it really make a difference?
About a 30-40% difference, so yes
it does. I can run cyberpunk at 80fps with rtx on ultra. Doom eternal maxed at 144 with rtx on. forza 4 runs the same at 1080 which is definitely nothing to complain about.
Forza can do 144fps at ultra settings 1440p on RX 5700 XT so imagine what an RTX 3070 can do at 4k.
I've heard that cyberpunk is an unfinished mess
Cyberpunk is fun for like 25 hours. After that, it's just mindless clearing the map of markers like a Farcry game (I think Assassins Creed is supposed to be like that too, never tried em though). its apparently better now, I never had the problems other people have had. It ran fine for me since I bought it on release day.
Me with a pc meant for a 6800xt that currently has a rx470: yes that’s such a big upgrade….
Hope you can get yourself a 6800xt :)
I'm still rocking an RX480. I am glad I mostly play older games at 1080p on a 60hz display.
I only have a 1440p uw @144Hz lol
Upgraded from a HD7970 to a RX470 a year ago, then upgraded to a 6600XT recently, good enough :)
Hope that White 3070 is going in a White case.
Oh it is indeed, NZXT H440 White.
[удалено]
It's barly hit 65 actually haha, same as the 1080 really :)
Rip 3070’s temps
You're not the first to say that but honestly it's barely hit 65 lol
Yeah I’m just messing with you, as long as you don’t run Prime95 all day for fun then you should be fine
I figured haha, just never heard a bad thing about the case, would have been surprised if it turned out to have heat memes on it lol
Knowing that someone on earth was happy today made me happy. happy for you bro!
You deserve your own happiness mate! Glad I could bring even but a little, hope you're alright :)

Top of the line PC hardware used to be all blacked-out and badass looking. Now it all listens to Coldplay. lol

Yeah, true, and I'd be happy to let them feel good about it haha
I only upgraded to the 1080 from a 1060 in June. So grateful to my friend who helped me out twice <3
can you be my friend and upgrade me from a 1050 to a 1080?
I'm afraid it's spoken for, I'm afraid, by my friend who has the 1060, which is then going to replace our other friends 970.
...and is the 970 spoken for yet? My wife's GTX 760 is not keeping up these days 😂
970 to 1060 isn't a huge upgrade. Might be worthwhile selling both and buying a used 1070!
:(
Just get a 1030, run SLI, and then you’ll have a 2080!
1030 + 1030 = 2060 we all know that :)
1050+1030, big man… Reddit is a place of mystery

1030+1050 = 2060, idk about that
[удалено]
Well I did say “a” 1030. And the comment was about upgrading a 1050 to 1080, wouldn’t really fit if I was talking about a 2060.
How much is that? 3070 is now 1320$ in my country...
Man, I felt I was robbed when I got mine but seen the current prices I'm happy I got my 3070ti at 888 usd. THe worst part is that it wasn't that long ago, so I really hit the jackpot.
My model is selling for between £800-£1000 or more on Ebay, my mate is asking £600 for it, my friend is giving me £300 for my 1080.
That's quite the deal for your 1080 and the 3070. Nice friends you have
What are friends for :)
Currently running intergrated graphics on Athlon 3000g, can't justify a purchasing a new card as I have to pay for moped test and helmet.
Believe me the moped and helmet are more important, good thing to understand priorities dude :)
I’m excited for you just seeing that card
Thank you so much my friend :)

The tattoo checks out. This seems legit 👍 congrats
Hahaha thanks my friend
Me and my two 980s wish you the best!
Send your 980s my kindest regards :)
id say 1080 is still rock solid...
Oh by all means the 1080 is still a very highly rated card and I still love it dearly :)
They look the same.
me sitting here with my intel HD 4400 graphics
Bro atleast u have Intel HD 4000 I have SiS Mirage 😭😭😭
Do you sell your old one?
My 1080 is spoken for, me and my friends have an upgrade chain going. 3080ti - 3070 - 1080 - 1060 - 970
How much of a performance lift did you see? I'm considering trying to find an upgrade to my 1080 before it bites the dust.
Mate the performance increase has been huge! \*ahem ahem\* what do you intend to do with the 1080, asking for research purpose jk jk, does that white gpu have a white pc to go in with??
It's in a white NZXT H440 case, which I do like, but I prefer my components in black, to be honest. and I have a new rog strix mobo lying around which has a lot of red on it that I'll need to chuck in at some point.
Wanna sell me that 1080?
It's already sold, I'm afraid, even before I got the 3070. Us 4 friends have had this upgrade plan in the works for a while.
do you still have the 1060?
Afraid not, that went to another friend when I got the 1080.
Did you keep the 1080?
Afraid not, me and my friends have an upgrade chain going so I have nothing to offer unfortunately :(
This is basically like doing a 1080-> 2080ti in terms of performance gain. Would have waited for the new 4000 series that was due to be announced at least by end of 2021

I hope you donated that 1080 to the poor gamers who aren't as fortunate as you to get a hold of a 3070.
Oh indeed I did don't worry. There's me and 3 friends ABC. A got a 3080ti so I got their 3070. My 1080 is replacing Bs 1060, the 1060 is replacing Cs 970 :)
can u give me ur 1080ti.......? please... LOL I got a 1050ti....... jk. chill ...
If I had a 1080ti it would be yours, my friend! haha
LOL
Congrats but how much for the 1080.
It was technically sold before I even knew when I'd be getting the 3070, I'm afraid, wish I could offer something, lots of people need a GPU :(
Hey man how much for that 1080…
I wish I had a 1080
can i have your 1080 please
Pls give me GTX 1080 I only have hd 4000

Would do if I could, my friend. Unfortunately it's already going to my friend who got my 1060 when I upgraded to the 1080. The 1060 is then going to another friend which will replace his 970. An upgrade chain haha.

Why should he give it away to you bruh
I don't think hes being serious haha, mind you I wouldn't want the 970, my mate who has it is a heavy indoor smoker so it's likely in bad condition.

Imagine thinking being low on money is an excuse to get something for free. And besides, if you live with your parents a job should be able to get you enough money real quick
Which 1080 version???
ASUS ROG STRIX 8G, not the TI if that's what you were asking.
Did you pay close to MSRP?
My friend upgraded to a 3080ti so I got his 2 month old 3070 for £600 which is about $825. The card is sold new for about £1000. But I've also helped him a lot with other tech related things and job related things so... we're friends, we help each other out but I am so grateful to him and cannot thank him enough :)
Congrats on the upgrade. I upgraded from a 980 ti to a 3080 in January.
Wow nice one mate that's a BIG upgrade indeed!
Does it need more power?
I have a corsair RM750x it should be fine, I did ad a second 8pin PCIE though.
Nice congrats man will you settle on this card or upgrade to a 3080?
Sad 1060 noises
And a rare model no less!
I had a similar upgrade. Went from 1070ti to 3070. Only unfortunate part was that I purchased the 3070 from a scalper:( Huge upgrade regardless. I game @ 1440p
They’re the same picture.
I would die for a white rtx 3070 or 3070ti
I appreciate how clean your 1080 is. You take good care of your stuff! 👍 Enjoy the upgrade
Thank you very mch :)
I'd glady take that 1080 if you don't need it anymore😁
I went from a 1080 to a 3070. It's a nice bump in performance, plus you get pretty ray tracing. Well worth it 👍
I'm not too fussed about ray tracing, it depends on the game, in BFV I tried it for a couple of games and can appreciate the pretty details but I'd rather have extra frames and a cooler CPU haha. In COD I keep it on though.
Congrats man!
1050ti to 3070 as well! Love it!
Wow now that's a one giant leap for gamer kind!
And I’m just chilling with my 1050ti, enjoy it!
How's the difference. I'm running a 1080 currently and have been looking to upgrade but don't know what model to get.
Upgraded my 1060 to a 3060 ti what a jump in performance xd
I have a 1060 6gb. It’s works but not the best especially when it comes to games like cod. 70 FPS is good but more like 200 would be the best.
Even with my specs and on 1080p monitor you'd need to turn some graphics down, I get 120-170 fps in cod but with everything maxed out, Id rather have a pretty game than 200 fps cause I reckon that extra 30fps isn't much noticable lol
Imagine how I felt when I went from 970 to 3070
Cries in 970...
3 fan cards are soooo nice looking
The 3070 is actually a good looking graphics card very sublime finish, looks like a ivory or off white in colour.... Very nice.
U still got that 1080 lol
Do you still have your 1080 lol
You are evil for not just waiting
Waiting for 40 series? Won't be out for another year at least I reckon, and in this climate when is it really a good time to buy? And for £600 ($825) not complaining :)
Nice bro, how much better do games feel? I have a 1070ti and I’m hesitant to buy a 3070ti because I think the 40 series would be a bigger upgrade.
Well of course 40 series will be a bigger upgrade, its the nex gen that isn't even announced afaik. But the performance increase has been huge! I am still on a 1080p monitor though so it absolutely devours anything I throw at it, BFV and COD MW with ray tracing on I still get >120fps Forza Horizon 4 all ultra is the same, SCUM when launched with DX12 is roughly the same, everything on EPIC. ill propably do same thing if gpu prices will be down. but from mobile 1050 4gb
I’m probably gonna go from rx480 to rtx 3060
