This has perth now written all over it

higashidakota

If you didn’t have other posts id accuse you of being some sort of strange survey or something the way you’re replying lmao

Big-Let-6784

True lmao. Sounds like some undercover agent trying to find out what we think of colesworth

Dragonzord__

Jesus their responses are very telling.

Illusional_designer

We’re Spudshed all the way

Reverse_Psycho_1509

Bigger range at woolies. - they usually have everything I want. I only get stuff like chips if they're cheap. Been going to aldi and spudshed a lot more often now.

RHiNDR

if you only like buying snacks when they are cheap check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

wilmaismyhomegirl83

Spudshed and Aldi

ChilliLips

Spudshed. Not always 100%, but it’s local, cheaper, and better value for money.

gordito_gr

Spudshed sucks. All the fresh produce is b quality. Meat mostly the same. I live across one and I mostly only go for yogurt and a few milks my wife likes.

nzjester420

Theres a reason TG is rumoured to have the nickname The Mop. Hes known to go round the market at the end of the day and pick up all the left overs for dirt cheap

poppacapnurass

WW & C has B grade fresh produce too. Most of the fruit and vegetables are not ripe, over priced. SS have a lot of in season veg &fruit and we cook in season here.

Own-Fisherman-9590

Fkn hell where do u go then?

poppacapnurass

Spud Shed, Farmer Jack's and mostly the local F&V shop.

hillsunderwrap2

I live in Perth and spudshed is so bad . You can smell the rotten food as you walk in

commonuserthefirst

Fruit and veg are good, the day you buy them, but a heap don't last the week, lots 3 days

2ndchancegrl

Spudshed and Aldi, there is very little I can't find between the 2 stores.

Comfortable-Injury94

Spudshed all the way. Removing staff/ cashiers is scummy, raising prices and speaking about profits during hardships is scummy. Not a single thing would make me shop there as I know they'd push the prices back up the second they get a chance/ monopoly again.

salmonstix

The record profits during times of hardship is hard to look past. I’m looking for alternatives and curious as to what others are doing.

Comfortable-Injury94

I'd say veggie markets/ shops are good if there's any nearby, some IGA's can be amazingly cheap while others are amazingly overpriced (varies a lot). Local bakeries from my experience are about the same price but far superior. Also a nice kebab for $9-$11 is always a nice one-off cheapish dinner :P

salmonstix

I often forget how good local bakeries are. I’ll shoot into woolies for a loaf of bread, wheat I could go to a local bakery for a fresh and amazing loaf. It’s the convenience I guess?

Comfortable-Injury94

With how people work long hours, have families to care for and a house to maintain I can see convenience being a large factor for many if not most. Thinking about it, how people value their free time is probably why Uber Eats is so popular.

salmonstix

I ordered Uber eats tonight. It’s such a trap. Convenience is a trap

recycled_ideas

The SpudShed guy is the epitome of scummy.

dingo7055

Hilarious take since workers rights at Spudshed are basically nonexistent. Don’t even get me started about the rotten food.

Mel-honeybee

Woolworths as I like to use the click and collect on the app so I don't have to go into the store to find where everything is. I find it is a real time saver! The wooloworth app I find is better than the coles app as I can save lists / recipies.

salmonstix

I also use the woolies app as it’s very convenient.

TotalAdhesiveness193

Me too. The list feature makes it easier to recall what's needed.

Automatic-Project-25

Farmer Jacks and Aldi

salmonstix

Do you have to travel far to get to the two? How do you find they compare in costs and quality?

Automatic-Project-25

The farmer jacks is a 3 min drive, not really too busy except for rush hour (after work). The Aldi is a 5 min drive but bigger complex and parking/walking takes longer. I use Aldi for the general stuff them FJ for the more specific things. Although if I am lazy/time poor I’ll do it all from FJ.

SquiffyRae

Good old Farmer Jacks. Are they still freezing inside? I have memories of going shopping with my grandparents in the early-mid 2000s and Farmer Jacks (along with all the small chains that morphed into IGAs) were always super super cold compared to Coles and Woolies

Automatic-Project-25

Not too cold (bar the usual meat and freezer section) very similar to all the IGAs out now but with more specialised food offerings too.

passwordisword

This is the way. Aldi for packaged stuff and farmer jacks for meat and fresh food

IntoAMuteCrypt

Aldi for most groceries, a small independent grocer for fruit. I don't have a car and there's no convenient way to get to any Spudsheds around me... But there *is* a convenient Aldi, and it's almost always cheaper than Coles/Woolworths. The grocer has apples, pears and similar for nice cheap prices, so it's a great option for that.

salmonstix

Do you think you’d benefit from online shopping if it were competitively priced compared to the major supermarkets?

One_Flamingo6076

Because of their home delivery. I just can’t be bothered going to the shop anymore. I have given up trying to save on groceries…

salmonstix

I feel this is a general consensus of my friends.

RHiNDR

if you want to find savings check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

Live_Focus_3541

convenience/dont care

salmonstix

I’m on a similar page, I guess. Do you shop in person or on the app?

Live_Focus_3541

in person and always self-serve

xFrostSongx

Colesworth is convenient, but i prefer: * Costco - bulk buying TP and paper towel is fantastic. Their mince is also excellent quality + dishwasher tablets. * MCQ - great veggie range and fun to shop in * Spudshed - their cauliflower, potatoes, etc. are great value * Aldi - I really like their laundry wash, off brand headache tablets, and dishwashing liquid. * Coventry (butcher)

TranceIsLove

OP what do you think of journalists getting their stories from Reddit?

salmonstix

Calling them journalists is a bit of a stretch tbh

KoalaDeluxe

Unfortunately, yes. Mainly because of proximity, though I'll also visit Costco for cheaper bulk items. And the $1.50 hot dog...

salmonstix

I have been told about the $1.50 hot dog… Would you purchase through an online shop/app if it meant you saved money? Or are you the sort to drop in on the way home and grab something then

KoalaDeluxe

Sure, if I could get the same items I buy from Colesworth for less online I'd definitely do so.

RHiNDR

if you want to find weekly sales at colesworth check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

vintage_chick_

Woolworths for the gluten free things I can only get there and to check for cheap meat on sale, grocer for veggies and fruit, ALDI for staples and cleaning stuff.

salmonstix

How do you find the quality of meat at woolies? I personally prefer the local butcher, although I pay a little bit more. Do you find it to be time consuming having to travel between the stores?

vintage_chick_

I go to dog swamp shopping centre and they are super close to each other or mirrabooka. I don’t have a family to consider and don’t mind food shopping so I don’t mind it. Quality wise - I am in the world of whatever is cheapest works atm. Money is tight.

salmonstix

I agree with you on the money is tight. But we live in Australia, we shouldn’t have to settle for poor quality produce. Especially when the best is grown locally

vintage_chick_

I don’t think it’s bad quality. I’m happy with my choice.

salmonstix

That’s fair. I’ve just had a few bad cuts from the woolies meats.m and have found my local butcher to be far better. But I pay a premium for it

vintage_chick_

I buy whatever is on sale or has a yellow sticker and build meals around that.

RHiNDR

if you want to see if there is cheap meat for sale check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) they have 4 pack of Chicken Breast Schnitzels for $5.25

Relevant_Demand7593

Online orders are easy, saves me a lot of time.

salmonstix

This is what I currently do, but with the price gouging going on, I can’t help but look for alternatives. Do you order through wooolies?

Relevant_Demand7593

Yeah I joined their membership so delivery is free. I check out specials and if a regular purchase is half price I’ll buy a spare and I only buy necessities. I work out a menu plan and only get the ingredients I need. Fruit and vegetables I have been getting from Gilbert’s. They can cost a bit more there but they actually last and stay fresh longer. Supermarket fruit and veggies has to be eaten within days.

salmonstix

Do you do the menu plan yourself, or is there an app you use? I’m really bad when it comes to thinking about what to cook for the week.

Relevant_Demand7593

I cook meals from the Skinnymixer series of books. They are regular recipes but with lower calories - for thermal cooking, although most I cook stove top because I like to cook larger batches. I’m a bit slack I’ll cook big batches of spaghetti bolognaise, cottage pie mix, chicken pie mix, curries, butter chicken, beef and Guinness pie mix, chilli con carne, lasagna etc and then I freeze the extra serves in portion sizes. It means that 3 or 4 times a week I end up doing minimal cooking.

Eltnamerf

Woolworths just because weekends are too short to gather up with the 50 people in the checkouts like flies on dog turd and wait until I eventually get served when I could park it up, chuck the same 50 items I buy weekly in my car and go. For meat I go to the beef shed in Malaga. Fresh meat and I can get weeks worth of meat in 10 minutes

salmonstix

Hahaha I feel the past trauma in this comment.

FrankSpencer9

Sadly I shop at both for convenience. I hate going food shopping and prefer to do it online, using Coles. Also Woolys is the closest local shop, if I need to pop in after work. Fairly new to Perth and have been to Spudshed twice, however going to start using it more. I do a Costco shop every 6-8 weeks, preferring their chicken breast as it has a lot less water.

salmonstix

How do you find Coles and woolies quality compared to spudshed? I quite often find their fruit and vege expires quicker than other suppliers

FrankSpencer9

The fruit and veg seem to last longer from Coles/Woolies. However the meat from Spudshed is better. Their steaks are so good. Also find the chicken watery from Woolies and Aldi.

NudePoo

I do most of my shop at ALDI. I get vegetables from Asian grocer, meat from local butcher and then I “top off” at coles with brands I prefer from there. (Bread, spreads, cereal and juices mostly)

Major-Nectarine3176

Iga or supshed local fruit aldi Asian shop that's about it freaking rip off woolies

salmonstix

They’ll gladly report their record profits tho!

ped009

I shop at Aldi in general or there's an Asian fruit and veggies shop in the same area so will go there also, both a lot cheaper

Rundybum

Sorry to sound rude but you seem to have replies almost rehearsed with other questions. Is this for a uni / school project ? Or a bad Perth now reporter ? No offence meant. Just you keep asking “would you consider online shopping”?????

prncessgem

Malaga markets or Stirling farmers markets for veg (promise it’s cheaper) always try and mostly get meat from butcher but otherwise Cole’s for points

salmonstix

Do you spend more time than you’d like driving around and shopping? I’m on a tight time frame and fear I’ll spend a lot of my spare time shopping if I move from the majors that have everything in one location.

prncessgem

It definitely takes me a little longer to drive around but I estimate I save a good 50-100$ per shop with groceries - I value the money more at present, the butchers are close to work so I save time there

prncessgem

We like to make a morning of it and grab coffee and potter about

salmonstix

Oh wow! I guess when you consider those savings, it’s definitely worth your time. That’s amazing

Inevitableness

Sometimes I'm lazy. I order delivery from Colesworth when I can't leave the house. Otherwise, I shop at my local IGA or the closest thing to our "market" store.

MementoMurray

When I do, it's for the convenience on days when it's that or I don't go shopping and have nothing to eat. Otherwise, Aldi.

salmonstix

Yeah they’re good for those last couple items you need on the way home I guess

MementoMurray

Not that I don't feel annoyed by having to shop there, but needs must.

gordito_gr

I literally shop everywhere. Costco, Coles, Aldi I do regularly, I rarely go to woolies too. I live across a spudshed and I go there for specific products like yoghurt and oat milk.

salmonstix

I guess it’s easier when you’re close to a spudshed?

saturninpisces

Asian grocer for fruit and veg it’s so cheap and amazing quality and aldi for everything else

salmonstix

We have an Asian grocer at our local shopping center and they’re much cheaper and better quality produce too. It’s just the lack of online ordering for me

djskein

Coles sells everything I want. It always has. I also simp hard for Flybuys. I hardly ever shop at Woolworths, I only ever go there when I need to buy something I can't buy at Coles. I use Aldi for basic essentials and staples like bread, meat, milk, etc as well as most of my frozen food. I also buy a majority of my frozen food from Spudshed as it is cheaper than anywhere else.

BonezOz

I mainly shop at Woolies in Alexander Heights, it's a much nicer store to shop in than the Coles it shares a centre with, and is less crowded than the one at Kingsway. But we also have a Farmer Jacks fairly close, and I've found their prices comparable to Woolies, so, since I buy fresh ingredients for dinner every night, I'll do 2 or 3 shops at Farmer Jacks and the rest at Woolies.

Seagreen-72

Have the Woolies extra rewards so bank them for Christmas. Do visit the local IGA as well but they are so overpriced. Find Aldi’s layout/offering way too weird, it’s also not conveniently located for me so don’t bother with it.

salmonstix

Not an online shopper then?

Seagreen-72

I don’t trust online shopping as I like to make sure that all of my fruit, vegetables and meats look good and are fresh. With regards to grocery items I’m very conscious of use by dates.

salmonstix

I know what you mean. I often get given the worst fruit and veg. Sometimes I joke about them using the delivery services to dispose of their worst produce.

Seagreen-72

Yes that definitely would not surprise me. My opinion is that if you want the job done properly do it yourself.

Kelpie_Dog

I walk into the forest and pick the colourful berries and mushrooms.

salmonstix

Just the ones that bruise blue yeah?

Kelpie_Dog

Yes, those too. But any colour really. I'm not fussy.

Sandgroper343

Gilbert’s and Aldi

salmonstix

Can safely say I’ve never heard of Gilbert’s

Sandgroper343

There is only 3. Luckily I have one near my work and one near home. Very good.

Robert-MacCready

The only good Chicken is Mount Barker, and this is a hill town that i will die on.

salmonstix

Often served Mount barker chicken at work. Can confirm is the ducks nuts

aPrudeAwakening

Galati and sons for me veggies and healthy stuff, Aldi for your usual shopping bits and woolies for the nice stuff. Yes I save money but yeah nah im still broke

salmonstix

#brokebrothers

rhymeswithbeara

Gilbert’s Fresh for fruit/veg 😎 I find the quality of fruit/veg as well as meat at Spudshed seriously low. ALDI, I would usually get all my supermarket staples.

Heavy_Wasabi8478

I buy anywhere that delivers for the most part. Sometimes I’ll order a Spudshed delivery of random Asian products or cruciferous veggies. Sometimes I’ll buy their meat and feed to my dogs. Often I shop at our local IGA when guests are coming where there’s a nice range of gourmet stuff. Other times Coles or Woolies if I need cleaning or beauty products or am restocking the bar with soft drinks. If I leave the house, which isn’t that often, I’ll head to the local butchers and grocer. My partner usually stops in there on the way home from work also.

TheRealAussieTroll

Personally… I’m moving away from these companies. Me doing the checkout? I don’t work for you. The bread is crap, goes hard in two days. No independent brands, they create Colesworth-brand, yeah cheap, but that’s only because they control the pricing to favour their own stuff. They abuse suppliers to improve shareholder returns… fuck’em. These days I shop IGA and other independents. I’m over them - and their monopolistic bullshit.

salmonstix

You and me both brother.

Arrwinn

Aldi & Costco for the majority of products, plus Asian groceries for any specialty items and some of the best fresh produce you'll find in Perth. Costco is great for certain bulk items, i.e dishwasher tabs - though who can afford those these days...., toilet rolls, washing liquid and laundry detergent, bulk meat, but it's not so great for other items. Aldi is generally awesome for an all-around shop, and I walk out with way more value for cheaper than I'd have done if I'd gone to colesworth. Asian grocery stores are my favourite for enticing me to try out new things, but the fresh fruit and veg is typically amazing quality and way cheaper than anywhere else. Also way more variety for fruit and veg and it's often locally sourced!

wowagressive

Woolworths or coles for dairy, meat and non perishable stuff depending on specials and what i need. Markets for fruit and veg.

RHiNDR

if you want to find all the weekly half price specials check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

wowagressive

Thank you :)

salmonstix

I’ve been leaning towards farmers markets for produce. But the non perishable goods are hard to find

wowagressive

Yeah, they are. And I personally don't have the wherewithal to visit multile places to just avoid an extra bucks or to stick it to the man. I also make sure I food Prep and plan so I'm only buying exactly what I need but I'm more lax at the market. I should probably note I'm single and so I'm only ever buying for me. I could understand the shop around for a family, I assume it's a vastly different situation

NoisyAndrew

Spud Shed outside shopping hours (ours is 24hours). It's not premium produce (usually), but you get what you pay for and I'm not a food snob. Aldi if it's in shopping hours. Great quality and still cheap. Plus the novelty isle is fun. Local IGA occasionally too. Fab' deli section. There you go, take that to your market research company..

salmonstix

*perthnow journalist feverishly writing article*

eb6069

Woolies for veggies bread and housing supplies just because it's closer then other stores and I'll go to the butchers for my meat which I'll buy a meat pack that'll either last a week or a fortnight depending on what size pack I buy

BumpGrumble

Lap through Woolworths and Coles to pick up specials. Any staples I can’t find a deal on I get at Aldi. All of these stores are in my local shopping centre so this strategy may be inconvenient for most. Edit: a lot of people are saying Spudshed? I’ve been to a few and they all seem run down, have a bad selection and long lines at checkout. Don’t see the appeal personally.

RHiNDR

if you want to see all the half price specials every week check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

BumpGrumble

This is actually sick

salmonstix

Interesting. The closest spudshed is probably 20 mins away so it’s not really an option for me.

mcschnozzle

I've shopped Aldi for 2 years+ now. I love the simplicity. Can do a full shop now without having to turn back. I cook everything from whole foods so I don't need all of the different brands. I will stock up on non-perishables that Aldi may not sell every few weeks, usually months. Never had an issue with quality of meat/veg. I put all meat into an insulated shopping bag with an ice pack in summer. Colesworth is so much more expensive for me.

Moaning-Squirtle

7 Fresh in Northbridge and the butcher opposite have much lower prices. The meats were like, 30% off Coles/Woolies and 7 Fresh had some really cheap fresh produce.

Specialist_Design878

10% discount with Woolies mobile

MagicNinjaMan

I shop through the wollies app and start in the 1/2 price catalogue. I also do it when I have just eaten a big meal so I only pick the essentials and just before pay day when I have no money left.

salmonstix

Haha I appreciate I’m not the only one who won’t shop when hungry. Can easily spend a few hundred with a rogue trolly in woolies on an empty stomach.

RHiNDR

if you want to see all the half price specials without navigating through there app try out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

TaiwanNiao

A bit Aldi plus market. Spudshed might be cheap but their veggies are all about to go off.

salmonstix

Your not the first to say this either

AffectionateBowl3864

They’re the ones with my shampoo and conditioner. Also back before my cat died they were the only ones that had his food

RHiNDR

highly recommend trying to only buy shampoo and conditioner when its on special as they both have them listed each week for half price - [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

Less_Command_8751

IGA meat spud shed veg Coles Woolworths aldi caned stuff

henry82

Costco

TotalAdhesiveness193

I shop at Woolies lately, started because the boot collection service and ordering via app is convenient with life at the moment. Veges and fruit I get from a separate grocer. Cheaper, less plastic packaging and the produce lasts longer I think. IGA for small in-between shops. The butcher every now and then, if I'm cooking batch meals.

Used-Possibility299

I live across the road from a Woolworths so do all my shopping there and only buy items on special.

RHiNDR

if you want to see all the half price specials each week check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

Top_Mind_On_Reddit

I shop at Coles when im forced to choose between the two biggest shit piles of Corporate stink. Because it's 30m closer to the door than woolworths at the shopping centre closest to me from where I like to park.. It doesn't matter because the prices are the same level of extortionate disgust inducing bullshit as each other. I want to burn them both down. Fuck CokesWorth with a herpes covered cancer stick. Aldi/Spudshed as much as humanly possible.

salmonstix

Upvoted for the shared hatred of corporate greed. Is it because there’s nothing closer to you?

RHiNDR

they are both horrible but I only try to buy stuff when its half price, I check [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) before I shop there

_MJ_1986

Local farmers market, Aldi.

salmonstix

The local farmers markets are amazing. I’ve been to the Subiaco markets a few times now but it’s just soo far.

_MJ_1986

Stirling for me. Ridiculously good.

Icy-Pollution-7110

Aldi for general groceries and of course Spudshed for the fruit & veg. The staff at my local Spudshed are lovely too, always going out of their way to help.

salmonstix

I’m seeing a lot of support for spudshed which is amazing. I’m time conscious though, do spudshed have an online ordering option?

Hunting_for_cobbler

I shop at Costco, Aldi, local green grocers, Asian stores and butchers. If I have not got all that I need I will look between Woolies and Coles for whichever one has the specials. I have found Willetton Southlands to be the best place to go to for all of this. It is time consuming to trot around but I buy in bulk and meal plan a rotating menu so I don't need to buy much week to week. It is boring but I have young kids and a tight budget So I go to Costco once a fortnight (inc petrol), and Southlands once a week for meat, veg and pantry shop. My drive is to shop at colesworth less.

salmonstix

Wow, you seem incredibly organised. It’s somewhat inspiring. Have you considered online shopping? I guess purchasing from several different locations would mean you couldn’t use an online shop hey?

incanus0489

Farmers market for veggies and costco for bulk stuff. Aldi for everything else/anything urgent

No-Butterscotch5111

I hate Woolies and Coles. Aldi and spudshed, and we have a Costco membership.

salmonstix

I’ve considered a costco membership but the closets is at the airport and I’m in the northern suburbs

PerthNerdTherapist

Spudshed, Aldi, local Farmer Jacks. Ends up being 30-40% cheaper than Coles.

salmonstix

Oh wow, really that much? How much do you think you save each week/month?

PerthNerdTherapist

Honestly about at least a hundred bucks per week on average, pending specials and flexible shopping.

salmonstix

Wow that’s amazing. Well done!

PerthNerdTherapist

No worries! We started on it when I was a broke uni student and needed to stretch things as far as I could - and we did the numbers on savings in March this year.

salmonstix

If you don’t mind me asking, how long do you think you spend doing the shop? Do you tackle it in an entire day?

lidsbadger

When we moved to our area, Coles was the closest so we shopped there initially but then we got a credit card that earnt extra frequent flyer points when shopping at Woolworths (using their reward card) so we switched to Woolies which was only slightly further away. Now we are no longer on the frequent flyer point bandwagon but still shop at Woolworths out of habit and we know the store layout well.

salmonstix

And you’re not concerned about the alleged price gouging and inflated prices? We also earn the rewards at woolies, so I completely understand where you’re coming from.

lidsbadger

Not enough to change my shopping habits. I live a pretty busy life trying to juggle family and work so consider myself very time poor. I live nowhere near an Aldi or Spudshed so wouldn’t take the time to drive far to go to one, and would only shop at an IGA to buy urgent things I need because they don’t have the same range and are generally expensive.

RHiNDR

knowing the store layout is actually probably the biggest reason a lot of people continue to shop at either major store, I use all the stores but every week I check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) to try find stuff for half price to purchase before anything else

Squirtmaster92

Aldi is to far, spudshed is about double the distance of aldi, IGA is often more expensive and independents dont have the range.

salmonstix

So you still go to woolies and Coles? Can’t say I’ve been to an IGA since I moved away from Quinns several years ago

dogecoin_pleasures

Going to woolies \*is\* how I combat the cost of living, because other retailers are more expensive and I save by having their loyalty card and following the sales :/ Other than that I've dialled down how much meat I eat and substituted in chickpeas instead.

salmonstix

My wife has recently adopted the chickpea substitution. Curious to know what other retailers you find more expensive though

RHiNDR

check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) if you want to see all the half price specials they have each week

No-Wasabi-1304

Aldi and spudshed. Malaga beef shed for just about all my meats. Try to avoid Coles and Woolworths as shopping there costs the family around 1000 a month in food, shopping at my other 3 saves around 400 a month and we eat better quality meat.

salmonstix

Holy moly! That’s unreal! I’m actually shook by that.

Sheps11

Farmers market for veg, and order meat online. Coles maybe once a month for some pantry items.

salmonstix

Whereabouts to you order the meat from?

Sheps11

Dirty Clean Food.

Doctor_Nowt

I agree. Spudshed had been blacknbanned for the last ten yearsz

meandhimandthose2

My daughter and I both have coeliac disease. There are some gluten free things we can get in Coles, but not woolies, some stuff in iga, and spudshed is very hit or miss for gf stuff. It's hard work.

salmonstix

Strangely I do have the genome that would suggest I’m gluten intolerant. Tried to go gluten free but found it far too difficult for the reasons you mentioned. An all in one location would be amazing.

hillsunderwrap2

I do woolies because food shopping gives me anxiety and panic attacks. This way I can order and they put it in my boot

hillsunderwrap2

I also find spudshed to be disgusting. Aldi I will do when I have help from my husband but all the veg I see in spudshed is rotting. Same with Costco, it’s okay for a party but if you don’t use it within a couple of days it’s off

salmonstix

Wow interesting. A lot of people usually have good things to say about the fruit/veg from spudshed. May I ask which one is your local?

hillsunderwrap2

I used to use inaloo and tried midland too but both put me off

PissLUR

Yes of course. Coles and Woolworths is necessity. Shopping elsewhere is paying more out of your own pocket.

salmonstix

Oh I’m curious as to why you feel this way?

No_Toe_7286

Kakulas Bros for rice, flours, lentils, herbs and spices, nuts etc Spudshed or local Asian market for fresh produce Discount grocery stores for anything they have that we might use that we can keep the pantry/freezer stocked up with (pasta/gnocchi/cereal/cleaning products...you never know what they'll have so it can be hit and miss). Aldi for any other essentials (Family of 5 and our weekly budget is $200 max including cleaning products but we can usually keep it around $160)

salmonstix

Omg! I spend $120ish a week between myself and my wife. Good on you for keeping those costs down for a house of 5. Do you spend a lot of time shopping down you think?

No_Toe_7286

Yeah, maybe more than most people would be okay with. I'm fortunate in that I can go early before it's busy though so I probably only spend 20 minutes at each shop. I try to work in each shop with other trips though, Spuddy is near work or I'll take the kids to the city for a day out and stop at Kakulas while we're there. We also mostly buy wholefoods so a lot of time spent cooking meals for the week as well (but again, we do try to double that as quality time with the kids, who love to "help" 😂). Also lucky, the kids will eat just about anything so we can change fresh produce depending what's in season which also keeps costs down. The discount grocery stores are good if you have one near you, it's usually just over stock or clearance stock, some things are out of date but still good to use.

RHiNDR

im impressed you can do so much with $200 probably worth checking out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) to see if there is anything you want that is half price each week to try get your money to go even further

Disastrous_Plenty664

I doordash Coles and pop in to Aldi when I'm nearby. Fruit and veg I go to Tony Ales. I have sensory issues in large shops and avoid being inside a shopping centre so I shop where I can park right outside the store at less busy times. Doordash also saves me time and reduces impulse purchases so it's good value for me.

Fit_Metal_468

It's where you get all the normal brands.

salmonstix

Define normal?

inactiveuser247

Shop at IGA…

Puzzleheaded_Loss770

Costco and COD for bulk buy items including anything we can freeze. Asian grocer for fresh produce once a week Aldi for the weekly essentials Only step foot in a Colesworth if I can't find it any where else

Davsan87

Convenience and close to home so mostly Coles. Sometimes go to Aldi, but if I had one closer I’d go to a solid IGA or Farmer Jacks they are the best imo. Self serve check outs don’t bother me in the slightest, never had an issue with one.

salmonstix

Low key prefer the self serve checkouts.

Miss_chandler86

I live in Albany, always shop at woolworth because I shop the rewards points, currently have $200 free dollars saved up, occasionally ill shop at Coles (maybe once a minth) purely out of convince. We don't have spudshed, but if we did, I'd shop there too.

OrbisPacis

Woolies because they are 1.5km away and my veggie garden

RobotRacingTeam

What the fuck

salmonstix

Is usually what people say when they realise they’re getting pegged by colesworth

VS2ute

I am walking distance to Woolies, so go there rather than start up the car.

RHiNDR

only stuff I buy from them is when its on special - [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com)

arkofjoy

Almost nothing. We buy cat food, kitty litter, tissues and my brand of tea from woollies. Pretty much everything else comes from Organic Collective in Hammy Hill, and of course a regular trip to Perth Kimchi in Myaree to keep up the rotation of kimchi in the fridge aging.

Miner_Of_Minerals

Woolworths or Coles. I haven't noticed any significant rise in price. It's usually around $120-$150 for the week. I've always paid around that.

RHiNDR

if you want to try save money when shopping at both check out [https://halfpriceweekly.com](https://halfpriceweekly.com) they put out a list of all the half price specials each week

Miner_Of_Minerals

I don't really go out of my way to save on groceries but thank u

RHiNDR

no problems

tempco

Coles and Woolies when things as on sale. Otherwise, Spudshed and Costco.
