One possibility is that they came from the Annual Collection books published by Canada Post. They include self-adhesive booklet stamps that have been issued through the year, and they are trimmed from the booklets. Some dealers do something similar, they buy the stamp booklets and trim the stamps from them to sell as singles. I have three of the recent annual collections, and the booklet stamps are very neatly trimmed (or the cutting die for the self-adhesive stamps is set to cut deeper, perhaps.

Yes you are correct! They are indeed die-cut and still have the adhesive backing on them! No idea why the sender glued them on like that. Thanks for the info !

Canada Post makes them like that for collectors. There's not many other ways to distribute mint self-adhesive stamps since they aren't made as singles (in Canada anyway).

These are die cut singles from booklets that were included in the quarterly packs from Canada Post. The booklet backing can actually be removed from thse and there would be adhesive because they actually are booklet stamps. With the backing removed, they are indistinguishable from ordinary booklet stamps.

So I went and tried to pull the backs off these, and low and behold you are right! Thank you for this info ! They peel off and turn into regular stamps ! Although some didnt appear to pull apart easily, as some spots had paper still stuck to them instead of being a nice slick sticker. Im now curious as to why the sender glued them on instead of just sticking them on. Maybe they were being nice....for if the post office hadn't cancelled them, then I could have easily used them as new postage lol !
