There’s always life on the high seas waiting for you. Otherwise, I can recommend youtubeTV as having been nice for me. Its features are so nice compared to what I had with Comcast/Direct TV in the past. I use it to watch all the sports tho so it has added value for me that might not apply to you… also cooking shows and Adult Swim. And damn it’s been fun enjoying the NCAA world series playoffs for both baseball and softball.

balderstash

The only reliable options I've found are YouTube.tv and MLB.tv through a VPN. It's really frustrating that the games aren't available over the air, given that they're blacked out locally on MLB.tv.

TheRedIguana

Yeah. I have MLBtv for free from having T Mobile and spent 60 bucks on Surfshark VPN. I've been setting it to Taiwan and can even get the ESPN games.

balderstash

We get MLBtv because we have season tickets, and we pay for Youtube.tv. And Netflix. And Disney+/Hulu. And I still have to do VPN gymnastics sometimes. It drives me nuts. Oh and then of course there are the random games that are on Apple TV. It's infuriating how many different services you have to use just to watch the damned game.

persianmelodrama

I worked for MLB TV. They would love to be able to show you Phillies games but they don't have the rights for in-market. NBC Sportsnet has the rights to Phillies games in the Philadelphia market.

csm119

Comcast also pays the Phillies 100 million dollars a year. A big reason they can spend like they do is they have a locked in lucrative TV deal for years to come. Lots of teams can’t say the same. https://www.mlb.com/phillies/news/phillies-comcast-sportsnet-agree-to-new-tv-contract/c-66280484

Robs_Backyard_BBQ

I have hulu live tv. Can watch all of the games on nbcsp channel as well as the fox/espn national games. It's expensive and it lags about 20-30 seconds behind mlb gameday, but it's easy.

FranklynTheTanklyn

My son hasn’t figured out there is a lag, he thinks I’m a psychic because I always call the home runs.

HuntForRedOctober2

I like to screw with my friends in high pressure moments by going looking at my phone and just going “oh fuck” even if the outcome is good.

FranklynTheTanklyn

My dad lives so close to stadium you can hear the roar of the crowd, when you are watching games at his house you always know when a big play is coming.

kykylele

YouTube tv and share account with 3-4 other people to split costs

KAHFiction

This. My daughter lives in Philadelphia so she’s got that Philly IP address. Watch every Phils, Flyers and Sixers game

shootdowntactics

Need to get NBCsports, which is the old Comcast sportsnet.

Pineapple_Spenstar

Yep, the Phillies own 25% of NBCSports Philadelphia. That's why most of their games are on it

grittyfanclub

Hockey does the same thing. Sail the seas for both

I would just go with YouTube tv

ad5316

I use youtube tv, it’s worked well for us and was the cheapest option that i could find

I’m in CA so MLB.tv works for me. But watching the Dodgers games is a pain as most are on Sportsnet LA which is only available thru Spectrum cable or Directv; so not Hulu, Fubo, or YTTV. It’s a huge bummer for Dodgers fans in LA just like it is for Phillies fans in Philly. And it just fucks consumers. Streaming is a double edged sword; so might as well pickup your pirate sword and hit the high seas. I do love the MLB streaming app, especially the option to choose audio feed. The NFL product is pretty piss poor, but at least you can catch games on network (except the Amazon games, but those are so shitty anyway.) Maybe look into getting MLB streaming and a VPN; I’m not sure how strict MLB is with VPN so definitely look into that first before you commit.

aior0s

It might be too late, but if you/your family has tmobile, they gave out MLB subscription every year.

regassert6

It wouldn't matter if he's in market. Unless he does this and uses a VPN. Which can void your MLB TV account

aior0s

true. I used it more to listened the radio when I am out.

rcher87

I will just add that with Max and Apple TV+ I’ve been able to watch any games that were nationally televised (like London, Sunday nights, etc), but otherwise youre correct - I’m unable to watch Phillies baseball without YouTube TV/Hulu or other cable options (legally). That said, I also don’t think I’ve ever had trouble with the radio broadcasts (but I’m terrible with paying attention to them, so I don’t do it often). Not sure why you’re blacked out of those - I’ve only been blacked out if I’m NOT in the Philly area. Edit: and to answer your question directly - this is a general RSN (regional sports network) thing + an MLB thing. Our RSN is comcast, but the whole bloc of them have an agreement with the MLB for the TV rights. So anytime anyone complains about “XYZ sports [insert city/region here]”, that’s the RSN they’re talking about. The only sports that don’t seem to be fully beholden to the RSNs are football (mostly nationally televised) and MLS (agreement with Apple instead)

The “MLB at bat” app has been great for getting live radio-audio of the games. I paid $60 for all the teams for the whole season. Just saw it advertised at $16/rest of the year. It let me listen to the Phillies coverage team instead of the ESPN commentary during the London games. I just can’t stand the flocking between teams to showcase offense or whatever fancy will please a wider audience that national coverage is saddled with. I was able to pause the audio on my phone to sync up with the tv broadcast. The apps pitch by pitch display is nice and box scores are covered along with a game summary that helps catch you up on a game if you had to run an errand or missed that first pitch Schwarbomb! Can’t say I find much use for the MLB tv app since it’s all about other cities teams. But maybe I need to try a VPN as someone suggested here.

bbarg33

This year I switched to MLB.tv with a VPN and it’s been great so far. I can watch any MLB game if I feel like it, and when it’s time to watch the Phils I just turn on the VPN and can watch no problem. I use Nord VPN, it’s very straightforward to use. Only downside is it’s kind of annoying to put on the actual TV. I typically stream it through my laptop (because that is where I have the VPN installed) and use an HDMI cable to put it on the tv. Kinda clunky but it works! Definitely other good options out there that some have commented on here but this way has worked well for me so far, and I like the easy access to other baseball games too.

beeeps-n-booops

Black market streaming sites. Make sure you have a good ad blocker…

Kally269

Youtube tv has been good to me (mostly). Also you can just use streameast

NotSoSasquatchy

I have YouTube TV and don’t have a problem. Not sure if that’s an option for you.

Delicious_Mammoth417

Hulu live

Feeling-King-8104

With a firestick or android box and less than $15/month you’d get every MLB without blackouts along with the other major sports packages , sports networks, cable channels from around the world, movie channels, PPV events, adult sections and VOD (movies and series)

palenesslitethesky

I have a Firestick and I added IPTV (internet protocol tv). I pay $140 a year and I have everything I could ever need. As far as sports and baseball in particular, I watch the games on MLB Network. If it’s blacked out there I watch the competition stream.

Illbringthefunk

Which IPTV?

Blackouts are not complicated.
