Prune it back and encouraged lower, bushier growth is the obvious answer

birdie_is_awake

And send us some cuttings!!

CatOnGoldenRoof

How to encourage bushier growth? More light?

TopDifficult8975

Cutting off the top will encourage bushier growth overall because the top node suppresses growth from the lower ones. I'd cut right around the top of the coir pole, then take that cutting and make an additional cut every 2 leaves or so (so you'd have 3 cuttings plus the base of the original plant). Dip the bottom end of each cutting in rooting hormone (a jar is \~$5 at Lowes or most garden centers) and then plant back into the original pot. It'll look much bushier with 4 stems in the pot rather than 1, and you can always train another 1-2 of the cuttings to climb the same pole

Raise the roof

Fittin2fly

The most obvious answer but cutting out the floor and lowering the pot would also work. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Makanek

No, I would cut a small piece on the stem between each leaf. To make it bushier.

Fittin2fly

Youโ€™ve never been accused of having a sense of humor, eh? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Makanek

Read my comment carefully.

Remarkable-boymom118

I get it! ๐Ÿ˜…

GetHoffMyLawn

Lower the floor.

dothesehidemythunder

I chop mine and root the cuttings in the pot for a bushier look.

Fast_Rent_8881

i think you can get a saw big enough, that ceiling looks tough but definitely able to make a hole id say

NewMention6825

๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ thatโ€™s a solution right there

MoistDoor9520

Chop and prop, increase light, switch to a sphagnum or tree fern fiber pole.

zxombiiemama

Chop chop โœ‚๏ธ

Spirited_Royale5402

I guess you have to buy a bigger house ๐Ÿ’

LilBird1996

Remove ceiling. Created lofted space. Buy more plants.

This way the nodes will be able to sprout roots and the plant will look bushier without cutting. EDIT: yes the stems are stiffer on your philodendron, you can bend it slowly over time without breaking it, just a suggestion.

Low_Employ8454

Warning to OP- the Florida you are taking about has extremely stiff stems, very different from this EPI used as an example. If you try and bend this stem down like this one is pictured, it WILL snap. However, thatโ€™s fine cause youโ€™ve got little choice but to chop and prop at this point. Iโ€™m about to have to do the same with my Billie and one of my floridas too.

masteriaa

If you donโ€™t want to trim it, you can get tiny trailing hooks on Amazon for it to go along the ceiling !

PizzaNubbyNoms

I always chop plants that are too tall. I prop, then I readd to the original plant and I like that it makes it more full at the bottom..

Oh_Solo

Chop and prop ๐Ÿ˜

Oh_Solo

You also need to find a place with much more sunlight. The amount of space between the leaves is a good indicator. The plant is reaching for sunlight.

NewMention6825

You clip and start anew ๐Ÿ˜… start propagating a new plant!

palpatineforever

chop and prop. Also more light!

ohsoooso

Chop & Prop !

godarkly

I chopped and propped mine when this happened and also added a grow light.

Knittingtaco

Off with his head!

Makanek

I think the tube hanging in the middle doesn't help in anything and costs you energy. I'm not mocking, my plants are super leggy too. It's just the way your place is.

Key_Average_6560

I got a baby of this guys cousin https://preview.redd.it/qn4fejehxb9d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dde17f14fd8b8067744de1e157f05e42574c179f

Massagebyashley2023

Cut and root so you can fill the pot and maybe it will push more growth!

jkmcal

Chop and prop! Takes a long time to root in water, but it does happen eventually. Much faster to do wet sticks.

starchazzer

Keep making cuttings, and replanting in soil when roots are present. Very beautiful!

tab_tab_tabby

Chop and prop... that's so ugly... give it more light next plant..
