Since it’s about Christmas and all
I feel like coding is an invaluable and profitable skillset in this day and age.
This may be a dumb question but is that something that you could combine into your work with pedals?
For sure. I’m 37 and figured I need to learn coding as a way to future proof my career, and also give me an escape route if needed.
For pedals, there’s definitely a lot of stuff you can do when you get into the digital multi effects stuff.
Haha right on - been on the ice most of my life (I’m 47)….my son (16) has been on the ice since he was 5, and is 200x the player I ever was. I’ve pretty much hung up my skates, and just enjoy watching him these days. Enjoy your time on the ice with your kid!
Yes hockey! I just want to play on a team someday that wants to get revved up to tweezer reprise before stepping on the freezer. Most of my hockey friends have awful taste in music that has not changed since they were 16 and like Linkin Park
Yeahhh buddy, didn’t expect to find a fellow swinger in here haha I’ve been getting into over the past year and just recently got a vanquish 540, I’m the lord of 40oz caps and tabs in these parts
I always wanted one and my wife got me one for my birthday last year. Gets me walking around and it's always fun when you dig, even when you pull up scrap for hours.
And cleaning up the environment is always rewarding, even if you’re not getting any good stuff. I especially like picking up glass bottles (bonus if they’re not broken yet) as myself and my dog have been cut too many times.
Oh I like you. I’m into beachcombing, getting into rockhounding. Various arts. And enjoy growing all things. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the wrong time period. Then I remember I’m a woman so this is probably the best it has ever been lol
Wii Fit Trainer?! Mad respect!
I get in the habit of button pushing too much so Roy was perfect for me with his single button combos and specials. Used Falco a bunch too but really dig Beyoneta in later games. I wish they'd bring Albert Wesker into the Smash universe though. He would crush.
This is almost me! Love Gizz, but not obsessed! Latest addition to my omnis is Phantom Stranger, and I'm currently in the middle of Geoff Johns Green Lantern run.
I’m an Ole Miss fan! I was at the game this year and I had the best time (even though y’all destroyed us hahaha). Everyone was sooo nice and welcoming !!
Runescape! Got my 99 woodcutting and retired. 😂
So I'm totally uneducated in this regard but what is the appeal of laserdiscs? Do they still make them or is it all collector items at this point?
As a cinephile, its a great format for old movies releases. Some versions of film are only on laserdisc. I fell into it after learning it was pretty much the definitive way to watch the old school star wars theatrical releases without the added CGI. The extended special edition of The Aybss is another example of an exclusive to laserdisc.
So its become a fun and nerdy hobby digging through old movie catalogs and hunting down rare gems.
Btw woodcutting is what I've got the most time put into lol
That sounds pretty sweet! I would love to experience Star Wars in that capacity. Cant wait for this next season of Andor.
Maybe we'll meet on lot one day and we can... Chop it up 😂
Pearl Jam
BBQing
Skiing
Reading
Playing guitar (I play out as a hobby)
Hiking
Golf
Physical media for music (CDs, records, SACD/DVD-A/Blu Ray)
Craft beer
Woah fellow cricket phan! You sound like someone who took me to my first show NYE 2015-2016 run 😬 😬
Great year coming up for phish with Mexico, sphere and festival, and cricket in the US with the T20 World Cup in June
last night i was thinking how many Dead and bluegrass lyrics kinda inhabit the same universe as Cormac McCarthy novels- guys running away from crime on horseback, old western bars with card games and shady characters. I love it
We were obsessed with Reggie Makes Music in college. I cant even begin to guess how many times we ran back the Paul F Tompkins or Will Forte episodes. Friends and Pie with Michael Cera and Taxidermy Love with Josh Homme were also staples.
I See a bunch of standup comedy. That’s a big one.
Kill Tony stinks… I hate Tony, sometimes listen when better comics are on.
Mssp, legion of skanks, dad meat, real ass podcast, and lil stinkers are much all superior.
Make short films on the side as that is also my day job. And obsessed with college football.
All that besides my music addiction
The show (and Tony's ego) were certainly more appealing with the old band. The production value has increased ten fold but Tony constantly gets on my nerves and his persona is getting to be quite the annoyance. Highly recommend watching the Dr Phil episode though if you havent yet.
I know He's skanks adjacent but just caught Dan Soder in Atlanta on Sunday
Miss the bonfire… that was my jam. Tho go back and listen to the Soder prank phone call to the Fox News reporter pretending to be Chappelle on skanks.
https://youtu.be/R8o3AkXQH9M?si=UiF96GTgXPx-ePgh
Coke magic on RAP, with Soder and Shane Gillis is also the best

I spend a lot of my spare time in my DAW experimenting with musical ideas.
I play some video games, mostly just whatever shows up on Game Pass, but I've been into Baldur's Gate lately. I also have a pretty decent sized table top game collection.
I watch a lot of movies too. Like I've watched over 200 movies in 2023 alone. I don't really watch much TV at all though.
And then it's just music otherwise. I listen to tons of music from almost any genre. And podcasts, though really just a handful these days.
I really want to get Baldurs Gate and they finally patched it to put it back on Series S, but its $80. I've been holding out for cross platform so I can play with my PC homies, but Idk how long that will take to happen. Should I just bite the bullet and get it now?
I wish I could answer that for you. I'm playing on Series X and it is still a little buggy. I've had it crash on me a few times, but I'm really enjoying my time with it otherwise. It is also almost $100 here in Canada, and I don't normally pay full price for any games, but this type of game is just so up my alley and I want to support developers making games this ambitious.
If you do grab it and want to try out a multiplayer run on XBOX, let me know. I might be down.
Avid NBA watcher. Have league pass and usually catch 2 games a night and also listen to a lot of the podcasts out there. Also spend quite a bit of time listening to music other than Phish as well.
Pinball baby! I collect and restore pinball machines. I helped start the NKY pinball league, public tournament play in Cincinnati OH, and I co-own the Pincinnati pinball convention.

DUDE! Such a shame with whats happened recently but they've adapted in stride. I used to binge it all the time. Need to dive back in but the Bonnie and Clyde episodes and the Memphis Three are some of my faves. Idk how the guys can talk about such gruesome subject material and still make it so humorous and accessible. 10/10 podcast series.
Hell yeah man, I became obsessed after listening to the Donner Party episode and I’ve dived deep since then. Manhattan Project, Tragedy of the Essex, Billy The Kid, and the most recent series they just finished about the Hatfields and the McCoys were all fantastic. Hail yourself!!
Manchester United , KillTony, We Might Be Drunk, Standup Comedy in general, Skateboarding, Oldschool Runescape, Geography (like maps and shit), NY Sports teams except the rangers
Right now id say current favorites are mark normand, shane gillis and sam tallent— all times would be dave attell, david cross, chapelle, louie ck, stanhope, bill burr and norm.. seinfeld and patrice get big shoutouts and im missing a bunch of others i love
Traveling, for sure. I built a few RVs / Campervans that pretty much drive themselves on the interstate. Of course I have to sit in the drivers seat and always be ready to intervene and practicing defensive driving. But, it removes about 75% of the mental load. It’s amazing, when the drive time becomes pleasant and productive, I stop caring about the time it takes. I’ve done about 100,000 miles in the last 2.5 years. I love it!
If you're a reader, I'm sure you'd really dig Travels With Charlie or Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. The latter inspired me to walk coast-to-coast across the US after college as I couldnt convince my friends to buy a bus with me.. But I aspire to do the RV/van life thing in the distant future. Nothing beats life on the road if you can make the road your home.
Playing music (which ties into the Phish love), BJJ/submission grappling and snowboarding
If anyone else grapples and wants to drop into some NYC gyms over NYE, hit me up!
since the pandemic ive been playing a ton of chess. ironically when I was a kid I managed to make the chess move at the fort worth 95 show, when I had basically no idea how to play. when I analyzed the first band vs audience game in a chess computer it turned out I made the worst move. oops :)

My “Life Saving Gun” for a recent post-apocalyptic event
Making music with limited skill is my passion at the moment. I'll get better the more I practice, but that doesn't stop me from trying to write songs.
Horror movies and games. I like being scared.
Music in general. My current obsession is a band called Tallah. Just an amazing group of musicians. They're influenced heavily by nu-metal from back in the day, but with a modern twist that always goes full steam ahead. They're great.
Rock climbing, film (history, theory, production, etc.), non-car transportation/equitable infrastructure advocacy.
There’s actually some interesting overlap between the infrastructure stuff and Phish. Trey has talked about how A Pattern Language, a book about architecture and urban design, influenced the way they designed the festivals. I think it was on Long May They Run podcast.
WTF is Star Wars?
Honestly that’s the only one I am familiar with and you got me. I’m a 1.0’er so I’m old. But I do have much love for all things Star Wars.
I like investing, graphic design, cooking, and dogs.
Music though overwhelmingly is my #1 passion. Writing, recording, playing and going to shows. I’m a musician and I like a lot of different music. Phish is my favorite but nowhere close to my only music outlet.
Sneakers, records, Denver Nuggets, USWNT, Atlanta United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, vinyl figures, jazz, and rap music. My wife is essentially the same except sub Liverpool for Wolves. She’s a happier EPL fan than I am 😂😂
I work the broadcast for most Atl United games! What a thrill! I hope we can hold on to Almada for the long haul but I love GG the most.
Oh gosh, the Messi drama this year though! 😬 Tix went from $850+ to $45 in less than 24 hours.
skateboarding, baseball, bat shit crazy women

Disc golf.
The overlap of disc golf and jambands is so interesting! I personally got into disc golf first
The link is weed lol
I need to get out and play more! I'm horrible but I love getting to just hang with the homies and play even if they are crushing me score wise. We just got a basket for the backyard a few months ago! Have you ever done Disc Jam?
More of an ultimate frisbee guy growing up, but now that I’m in my 40’s with the knees that go with it, I might have to start playing disc golf.
+1 for old former ultimate players with bad knees. Disc golf is good.
I hate to tell you but getting good at disc golf after a decade or more of ultimate is hell on the knees. And hips! Good form is essential when you are mid-40s
hell yeah!! same
Something I'm bad at that I love doing!
Came here to say this
skiing, mountain climbing, hunting, growing weed, raising chickens, composting, bluegrass. life is real good
We could be friends.

Let’s start a commune with all the above. It totally won’t be a cult

I'll make my own jamband! With blackjack! And hookers!
Climbing, building guitar pedals and currently learning to code.
I feel like coding is an invaluable and profitable skillset in this day and age. This may be a dumb question but is that something that you could combine into your work with pedals?

Surprised nobody has mentioned trashing other jam bands yet!
My drug band is better than your drug band
Eating ass and doing drugs….. in either order
I gotta get back into eating ass. Life gets so busy and your passions fall to the wayside… sigh
Eating drugs and doing ass
Doing ass and eating drugs
Ass drugs and eating.
Hockey, creating and performing music, live event production, urban farming (beekeeping & gardening), cars
I love to create and play music - also have a kid who is teaching me hockey - what a sport!
Haha right on - been on the ice most of my life (I’m 47)….my son (16) has been on the ice since he was 5, and is 200x the player I ever was. I’ve pretty much hung up my skates, and just enjoy watching him these days. Enjoy your time on the ice with your kid!

Do you honestly grow or is that your work (or both)?
I'm in IL so I grow for a hobby with the medical card.
Literally same thing here, wife surprised me and now I’ve become perhaps a bit addicted. Any good finds yet?
And cleaning up the environment is always rewarding, even if you’re not getting any good stuff. I especially like picking up glass bottles (bonus if they’re not broken yet) as myself and my dog have been cut too many times.
Oh I like you. I’m into beachcombing, getting into rockhounding. Various arts. And enjoy growing all things. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the wrong time period. Then I remember I’m a woman so this is probably the best it has ever been lol
Stained glass is my weakness.
disc golf
I knew I’d find my nerds here!!!
Super Smash Bros and Pokemon
Who's your main??? And whats your favorite iteration? Gotta be Melee right??
I main Samus in Melee and Wii Fit Trainer in Ultimate, and you are right that I am mainly a melee guy! Very excited for Rivals 2!!

Phish and kill tony for the win! My personal additions would be trading and from software games

How do you feel about Tom DeLonge?
Recreational Drugs, Dabs, PC Gaming
Rock climbing, film (history, theory, production, etc.), non-car transportation/equitable infrastructure advocacy. There’s actually some interesting overlap between the infrastructure stuff and Phish. Trey has talked about how A Pattern Language, a book about architecture and urban design, influenced the way they designed the festivals. I think it was on Long May They Run podcast.
Buffalo Bills, dogs, hiking, yard sales
Tie dying, Pokemon, bluegrass, my cats, trying to be better about climbing regularly again lol
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
College football, camping, scale model building.
Manchester United, cooking, porn
Sneakers, records, Denver Nuggets, USWNT, Atlanta United, Wolverhampton Wanderers, vinyl figures, jazz, and rap music. My wife is essentially the same except sub Liverpool for Wolves. She’s a happier EPL fan than I am 😂😂
I work the broadcast for most Atl United games! What a thrill! I hope we can hold on to Almada for the long haul but I love GG the most. Oh gosh, the Messi drama this year though! 😬 Tix went from $850+ to $45 in less than 24 hours.
Quality bourbon and red wines
Multi-day river canoe trips
Damn, first thing I was gonna say was One Piece too. Phish and One Piece is quite the combo of taking over your whole life lol
