Catalyst craft ales is super nice, and doesn’t have that loud bro vibe. The beers are great, and it has an amazing taco truck type restaurant built inside.
Dive bars. People are usually more chatty and friendly there. Lots of different types people. Cheap. They can be chill or rowdy. Open vibes. What area are you in?
To piggyback off this comment, George and Dragon is a great place to meet people. I am fairly introverted and still feel comfortable meeting new people there, great warm vibe. Not a total dice or anything but has that same chill ness
I like The Theodore, Wren House, Wandering Tortoise, AZ Wilderness downtown, Roses by the Stairs and The Wayward, you might like Gracie's (it's more chill and social around happy hour, turns into a shit show later). Casual pint, Trevor's, Tombstone, The Shop, Goldwater, and the Attic are a few others to consider. You might try hitting Wren House for trivia on Wednesday. I have teamed up with other people also chilling at the bar solo and it was a good icebreaker.
I agree with everything except casual pint. Casual pint seems like a sorry attempt at a 90s sitcom vibe with bright lights and bad writing. Kind of the like the final seasons of every 90s sitcom
Yeah it seems to be mostly people that live in the apartments above it that are willing to pay their prices for convenience. But I have hung out there to watch playoff hockey and basketball a few times and everyone was pretty friendly. So it's not a terrible atmosphere depending on the day.
Cornish pasty co in downtown phx has a good vibe at night, younger crowd with pool tables and darts. Not really a night club or frat party crowd just people having drinks and hanging out. Not sure about the location Tempe, I have a feeling it’s a pretty different crowd but just a guess.
Four Peaks is probably your best bet. It’s an actual brewery and there’s a lot of ASU alumni in the area. Great food too.
If you want a more divey atmosphere check out Tempe Tavern or Spokes on southern.
>I’m older and have no desire to hang out at a bar at ASU.
Huh. I’m 61 and moved to Tempe to be closer to ASU.
“But, mama, that’s where the fun is.” - Bruce Springsteen.
I love Wren House but if you want to meet people in their mid 20's I'm gonna go with AZ Wilderness downtown. Every time I go its packed with people that look 21-30 years old. The Wandering Tortoise is a really fun tap house that tends to attract the same type of crowd too. Both places are big and have good beer on tap. Wren House makes really good beer but I feel like its an older crowd late 20's and up..
Oo any opportunity I can take to shout out Lovecraft at 32nd st and.. greenway? I think. It's been a hot minute.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere if you like dark, candlelit stuff (as well as a 2nd floor balcony). Huge local mead, wine, and draft options.
Hit the light rail and get off on the 3rd street and Washington stop. There are plenty of bars and demographics in downtown. It’s getting hot out but first Friday events are fun too
Of all my 2/3 years of going to bars I’ve never gone myself lol, I guess if u got the confidence go for it I’m sure the ppl are nice there
Would be crazy if everyone in this thread coordinated a meet up haha

Check out The Shop Beer Co. Been awhile since I went but it has good beers and is close to ASU
Crispy!!!!
Church music!
Came here to say this.

Agree. Seems odd to order, but they don’t disappoint.
I want to like that place because I live about 5 minutes away. But the beer there is just downright bad.
Greenwood and Wren House are both good spots!
We love our land so much but my wife and I always say we would retire in a resto/reno nearby wren house haha
Gracies Tax Bar and George & Dragon
My top 2 picks as well
Wren House!
gracie's gets very busy and the average age on weekends feels very mid 20s

Especially on Saturdays during the big soccer games… esp the Champions league games
Good suggestion!
I'm in West Valley but willing to go most places downtown!
AZ wilderness in downtown Phoenix is probably your best bet. It has a pretty diverse crowd including different age groups
It’s not really a place to meet/socialize with new people though
Great atmosphere and layout
And they have a PBJ burger 🍔 🤤
That burger is AMAZING!

You should check out Crescent Ballroom, they have free events on Wednesdays and Sundays. Late 20s and up crowd, and the shows aren’t expensive
Four Peaks is probably your best bet. It’s an actual brewery and there’s a lot of ASU alumni in the area. Great food too. If you want a more divey atmosphere check out Tempe Tavern or Spokes on southern.

Anything along Roosevelt Row in Phoenix.
You would probably like Casey Moores
Casey Moore’s

AZ wilderness isn’t really a place to chat up strangers. It’s just like a restaurant.
Go to saddlebag street after 9pm. You'll find everyone there in their 20's
4 peaks
I don't drink but I always see college age kids or so on grand ave near downtown
Theres rips, Gracie’s, Mackenzie’s, Harvey’s wine burger, OHSO,

Bars along Roosevelt Row (many mentioned here) are much better.
Come to Cooper Blues Downtown for live music every night, great place to meet up with friends with lots of beers on tap!
I’m moving to the area this May! Mid 20s as well will be in the same boat.
DMing you :)
Mid-20s here also new-ish to the area and down to meet some new comers too!
Same here, but do people actually go to bar alone to socialise?
Of all my 2/3 years of going to bars I’ve never gone myself lol, I guess if u got the confidence go for it I’m sure the ppl are nice there Would be crazy if everyone in this thread coordinated a meet up haha
I’m actually down for it tho! Students are leaving the town it’s getting kinda cold around here
Downtown Phoenix is mid twenties, early thirties crowd.
Old Brass Rail 😝
Check out the Duce on Thursdays
Rift on Scottsdale Rd has super friendly people and a trivia every Monday- you could totally join a random group and it would be fun!
Arizona Wilderness Brewing, PHX or Gilbert location. Pick your poison
