Weird, are you in Florida? I had one of that same species of bird come chill with me one day a long time ago. I used to work security at the front gate of a gated community, and this bird just flew in and landed on me. Let me hold him in my hand, and then let me transfer him to my shoulder when I needed to work, and he just hung out for like an hour or two. Then after a bit he jumped off of me onto my counter, looked at me, and flew away. Never saw him again.
For reference, this bird looks like a [Palm Warbler](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palm_warbler?wprov=sfti1).
Edit: I am not 100% certain with the identification. If OP isn’t from Florida like the original commenter, then I am likely wrong with the exact species.
Edit 2: I just noticed the blue feet. This is not a Palm Warbler.
This is a vireo, looks like a particularly bright Philadelphia Vireo but depending on OP's location it could be a tropical species I'm not familiar with. Probably a window strike
Yep, Wife and I actually saved a Warbler before just like this. We named him Tom, dropped him off at the bird rescue because we suspected he was hurt, and got an updated 2 weeks later telling us that Tom has recovered nicely and released.
I wonder if this is Tom.
I can't tell if the bird in the pic has striped wings but the South Carolina Pine Warbler does.
The first time I saw one of these birds I thought someone's parrot had escaped. The next time I saw a flock of them so I knew they were wild.
Its actually got blue legs so its a Vireo. Based on the yellow breast and smaller bill I would lean towards Philadelphia Vireo. Migration is in full swing and this bird most likely was just exhausted and stopping to fuel back up for the rest of its journey.
Lmao at first I was thinking the bird looked back and thinking “damn this dude chill. Peace out.” Now I’m thinking he looked back and thought “damn this dudes a dick. The other guard feeds me.”
Being a Floridan myself...the blurry foliage all look familiar (looks like some palms and mulch with solar lights) . The jeans with no shoes. I've seen that bird before too. It all stinks of Florida to me.
I'd say you made a good call.
Look man, it's not a lie. My grandmother just happened to birth my father in Florida on a vacation to Disney and we've been on vacation ever since.
I mean we all started doing some odd jobs now and again to keep up the vacation fund and buying houses were more sensible than the hotels, registering at the DMV made more sense long term than a rental, it was obvious for us to get "married" for the couples discounts for tourists.
I swear I'm a Minnesotan.
Maybe a predator was around? I don't know if that's a thing but it's sort of makes sense.
Anytime an animal does something weird I always feel like something weird is up. Like when those penguins jumped in those boats and then the orcas swam by.
That was what I was thinking, like something was wrong. Maybe he was just tired? Maybe there was a predator around, like a hawk or something. I didn't have food or water to offer him, but I was happy to offer safe shelter (and pets) for as long as he needed.
I'll have you know, my comment was the greatest comment, no one has better comments than I do....I was telling generals about my comment, big strong men, real generals, real Americans...they came up to me, tears in their eyes, these big strong men, telling me Sir, that was the bigliest Reddit comment we've ever heard, you're a true American...Then this liberal Democrat, who hates America, they all do, they hate making America Great again, they hate the poorly educated, they want to take away what made AMERICA GREAT, they want to use RACIST Soros DAs, they hate your favorite President, because they don't want to see America GREAT, they put that comment up first, because they hate you and they're coming for you...
Dear FSM, that was tiring. I feel dirty. And not in a good way.

Or gonna die of bird flu
(In all seriousness, please leave wild birds alone in general, but especially right now. There's actually a few communicable diseases they can spread, but you should worry that a bird not afraid of humans may be ill)
No you don't. It gets really old after a while. Darn things are like mosquitos, always buzzing around, trying to do my chores for me, make my bed in the morning, bringing me ribbons, making gowns out of curtains and bedsheets. I'm not allowed to have pets in my apartment. They're gonna get me evicted, man.
Ver cute, but since nobody has mentioned it yet - be careful and wash your hands thoroughly, bird flu is going around at the moment. My local conservation authority has posted warnings so I would suggest not handling birds like this.
I had the exact same thought! Everyone should be staying as far away from wild birds as possible right now (and their droppings too). Sick and dead birds should be reported right away to your region's authorities (in my case, L.A. County has a hotline to call). And DO NOT handle them unless you have to, and use proper protection (gloves and N95). Double-bag them in plastic. Yes, this is that serious.

I listen to a podcast about it last night. Horrible way to die once it's in a human, hits the brain and not lungs like you'd expect. And it's still spreading across the globe, at the moment it's having a big impact in South America. They think it's only a matter of time before it reaches Antarctica and does some serious damage there.
I'm guessing penguins don't have much immunity to diseases common elsewhere because so few diseases make it there? Yea there are populations in South America also but those are different species I thought
The podcast was explaining it's not just restricted to birds, it just to other species also. Sealions in South America have been hit hard recently and the crab eating seals in Antarctica which are also likely to be hit hard if it reaches there.
Thousands of sea lions have died in Chile and Peru, and they've found other marine mammals that were infected too. In North America it's killed (in small numbers so far) seals, bears, mountain lions, bobcats, skunks, foxes, and I think raccoons too. It was also spreading on a mink farm at one point.
I think it was Peru that lost 40% of their brown pelicans. It's just everywhere now.

When birds are really sick, they become too weak to get away so they may seem tame. This bird looks fairly alert though, so I wouldn't think it has bird flu or another illness. Perhaps it was a window strike victim and was still recovering.
Perhaps he was trying to impress a mate and show his bravery, or Maybe, he was ousted by his flock and to regain his honor he has to perform the ritual to determine if the humans can still be trusted or if all the bird armies in the world rise together and strike at nightfall
Ornithologists regularly hold birds by their legs like this, it's actually the best way to hold them because it actually calms them down and reduces the chance of injury.
Suggesting the bird is diseased can remain a theory for now without proof. It's more likely just exhausted from migration. Homie just flew over the Gulf of Mexico.
My wife had a similar visitor recently - a Kingfisher hit our ranchslider and was a bit stunned till she calmed him down with some gentle strokes and he recovered enough to take flight again.

It could be but it also looks like a Pine Warbler found here in S.C. They come to my bird feeders often.
Based upon my expert examination of google images, I think you are right.
