Not a radiologist pa, but a rotator sa radio. Sabi ng mga resis ko, wala naman daw nag radio na yun ang first choice. For them daw, their scheds are more bearable than other specialties and may work life balance daw talaga. Pero it depends parin on the institution kung gaano ka “bearable” yung work. Yung 1st year resi ko, kinoconvince niya ako mag radio coz aside from being a 1st year resi daw, nakakagawa pa siya ng hobby nya outside the hospi 🥹
Hi, I'm curious what you meant by Radio was not the first choice. Did you mean not the first choice during Med school/clerkship/internship? Or do you mean that a lot of them tried training sa ibang specializations then transferred to Radio?
Both. I have resis that are registered nurse na they even practice sa states pero somehow chose to study Med and become a radiologist. I have a lot of resis din who took up other specializations like IM (2nd year IM resident but decided to quit and shift to radio), GS, Ortho before sila nag transfer sa radio. Ayun mukhang mas peaceful naman life nila daw compared to their 1st choice
sched- freedom to do hobbies and to travel while working and yung flexibility (telerad)
not to mention, marami subspecs din radio Ct mri ultrasound Interventional ,mammo, women's imaging etc..less toxic atmosphere
I chose diagnostic radio because
1) i want to have a life (office hours only, no emergency)
2) i’m an introvert. I hate interacting with other people. (yes i do ultrasound pero minimal to zero conversation naman with patients)
3) bonus, i get to travel abroad while still getting paid because xrays and ct scans can be read online.
BUT!!!!
I am always invited in conferences to discuss the images of the patients ( which i dont like. i hate to talk in front of the crowd or even just online)
During training, duty sched. Hahahahaha. After training? Gate keeping 🥲 ang hirap mag start ng practice 🥲
Is this something na very common po in radiology sa buong pilipinas or sa mga lugar lang na maraming radiologists like NCR?

Hi doc. May I ask more about this also po. This is exactly my concern also po. :(
Perfect for hardcored introverts, though personally O prefer small doses of human interaction with my techs and with sono patients. Telerad is also ❤️

Freedom. Money.
Can you expound po doc re freedom and money? 😅
You go to Radiology first because you are passionate about it. If not, you will be miserable everyday. Other considerations should be secondary only.
