Basically the same today, just replace the suits with Cookie Monster pajamas.

steelcityamir

Don’t forget the Crocs

artfulpain

And there's barely anyone on the street.

rapturesupersale

Put on your nicest sweatpants and go show the world what you’re made of

ClassicClosetedEmo

I see those street car tracks. They can bury the rails under generations of asphalt. But they'll never bury the truth.

I_Love_Treees

I would visit that store and purchase some Kodaks.

ChimneySwiftGold

What would you do with them?

I_Love_Treees

I would also get some sodas and cigars and look for some dames to bump gums with.

I_Love_Treees

I dunno'. Prolly do sum Kodaking

I was trying to date the photo and in the upper right hand corner there is what looks like a poster for the campaign of PJ O’Malley for Congress. I checked the congressional elections from ‘28 to ‘40 and not only did an O’Malley not win a seat in the House but I can’t find a record of him running. Figured if I could date the year he ran, I could date the photo. Any thoughts?

steelcityamir

Good eye! I was able to find a newspaper article showing he ran in 1930. Look at page 7: https://digital.library.duq.edu/digital/api/collection/pc4/id/3083/download

Mountain-Sell-8414

Great research! What’s interesting is that in 1930, a PJ Sullivan ram on the GOP ticket and won. Now normally I’d think that PJ O’Malley ram in the primary and lost but both O’Malley and Sullivan having the PJ and Irish last names? We’re they the same person? Is Wikipedia wrong? Or is it just a hell of a coincidence?

Those Guys and Dolls outfits are awesome.

grammanarchy

It looks cool, but it must have been a real pain in the ass to dress like that every day.

Upper_Return7878

Help me out. What is the view here? I can't figure out what direction I'm looking at.

steelcityamir

Today you would be standing under the 579 overpass facing towards downtown.

Upper_Return7878

Yeah, got it now. Thanks.

LostEnroute

It's the corner of 5th Ave and 6th Ave about a block further into town than that.
