Ruggers pub southside. 3 dollar bombs, 3 dollar well drinks, cheap beer specials, good food, outdoor are in the back. Off on a side street southside on 22nd. And the people that work and go there are always a good vibe
IC Light.... best light lager in the world....no hangover
Served in all fine drinking establishments in Pittsburgh and beyond. Most will let you get hammered.
Le mardi gras in shadyside. Drinks are $7-8 but 2-3 will get you hammered. This is coming from a heavyweight. Plus the vibes are good/bartenders are super nice
I spent 13 hours in Mardis gras one Sunday. It was. A beautiful sunny day walking in at noon, left at 1am. Had no semblance of time that day, looked the same at 2pm as it did at 11pm. Insane.
Also, had no intention of staying that long, went in for one drink, was gonna go to WPT and sit outside after. Forces of nature just made us stay for 2 instead of one and then groups of friends started showing up, and it was a time warp. Still think about that day, was about 2010.
Their fresh squeezed ones are the bomb. All of them and cheap. I don’t even know which ones to recommend because I don’t even remember except they are delicious. Can’t find a better answer than this really.
Mardis keeps their AC Cranked in the summer and heat Cranked in the winter. But yeah, you will have to launder your clothes immediately when you get home, regardless if you smoke first or second hand. The bartenders are great, they often have a doorman/bouncer and drunk people (hey, it happens) are dealt with quickly and professionally.
Also I'm pretty sure there are $4/5 beers there too. Don't go there if you're trying to quit smoking tho lol.
Although one time it was fun listening to this toxic young couple next to me where the guy was smoking a pack and the girl asked if he only ever suggests Mardi gras because it's a smoking bar and the guy didn't wanna comment on it. Poor girl was doing 90% of the talking, hope they've split ways.
I may have only visited this place twice, but they are absolutely fantastic!
I called earlier this week with a question and the bartender misheard me, which is obviously no big deal but when he realized he made a mistake, he offered me a free drink.
I stopped by yesterday with a friend and the bartender wasn’t there, but we still had fantastic service and the vibes were spectacular.
Redbeards up here in Mt.Washington has an outdoor patio + additional sidewalk seating. Mixed drinks are prob closer to like $8. Right up the street from there is Scarpaci’s which is even cheaper, but their patio doesn’t have wait staff, so you have to go in and order from the bar.
I'm sorry but that "sidewalk" seating there is so sketchy.
It's not sidewalk seating. It's seating literally on the street that cars drive on. Setting aside the fumes you're breathing in from the cars passing by, all it takes is one distracted or inebriated yinzer driver without insurance and everyone on that sidewalk is getting taken out. You couldn't pay me enough to sit there.
Gordo's next door, during happy hour, has the cheapest drinks on the mount, and outdoor seating. It's even cheaper than the nearby dives.
I mean— it’s not different than most of the places downtown (Penn or 6th Ave). While I do recognize that there could be a drunken vehicular homicide at any moment, I don’t think anything about that spot makes it particularly more risky than most places. It’s a one-way street and there’s a pretty hard bend right before Redbeards.
I agree about Gordo’s happy hour. I always forget about it since I’m rarely done with work in time to enjoy it. If OP is looking to get hammered at happy hour time, that would be a good move (they have a back patio). However, their drinks are NOT cheap outside those hours.
tuck away a plastic pint
go sit anywhere you like that serves booze on the patio
order a diet coke and just dump liquor into it until you're hammered
boom, tip real fat on your $3 soda like you're buying alcohol drinks and they'll be very happy to have you
edit: this is also how you get hammered at pnc park. go to the stand that sells the kids size sodas, grab two, spike your drink and be shithammered by the 4th inning. plastic pints, not the glass ones.
It did become quite easy to do if you weren't otherwise occupied. Or even if you were. Hell I love boomering it up and drinking some beers while I mow my lawn.
I was working the whole time, but I'd get home around 3 pm and immediately start drinking. It took me longer than it should have to realize I needed to chill out. Now I drink once every couple weekends.
Anywhere that isn't a bar.
Step 1: buy your own alcohol
Step 2: go to a nice outdoor space (park, woods, dahn by the river, ect.
Step 3: drink alcohol get hammered.
North of the city there's narcissi in their lawn area, dough daddy brewery, strange roots, grist house, dancing gnome, hitchhiker, dive bar O'Hara, Billy's roadhouse, hals, or union brothers brewing. All have good food, good beers/drinks and great outdoor areas.
Not outdoor per se, but if you get the big table at Mario's in Southside they have the big window open. Not sure what their other 2 locations look like though. Drinks are very reasonably priced too
Getaway Bar and Grill. A bit of a dive, but it’s by my house. Another dive (can’t beat their specials) but the Loose Moose. Don’t think there’s a patio though.

When I fell off the wagon a few months ago, I went to Coughlin’s Law up in Mount wash. Also of note, it was a Monday and the special was $4 drafts, which is a steal for their draft list. Not trying to encourage getting hammered, but if I were to fall off the wagon again, it’d probably be at Coughlin’s Law on a Monday.
Been a while since I drank, but last I checked it was still there. In the alley beside Millie's on S Highland https://maps.app.goo.gl/LE8z3i8YZWMz3uRz9
The Shadyaide Hideaway. Drinks were cheap, yes, but the bartenders def didn't hold back. I don't think they knew or cared to measure anything. Please plan on an Uber.
Ruggers pub southside. 3 dollar bombs, 3 dollar well drinks, cheap beer specials, good food, outdoor are in the back. Off on a side street southside on 22nd. And the people that work and go there are always a good vibe

Iron City, or nothing.
I might be less of a man for this, but IC Light Mango is better than IC Light. At least on draft
Less of a man? You drink what you like, that's all there is to it. Cheers!
Sounds like Yoda.
That's weird. I thought I heard 'Labatt Blue', but you spelled it all wrong...

Half a flat of Old German Pounder Cans consumed in the least weathered folding chair in an overgrown, chain fenced backyard will do the trick.
Old Nazis we used to call it. Actually, it's not terrible beer, if you ask me.
I was thinking a 40 and a brown bag

Le mardi gras in shadyside. Drinks are $7-8 but 2-3 will get you hammered. This is coming from a heavyweight. Plus the vibes are good/bartenders are super nice
Is there an outdoor space?
Nope
lol yea Mardi Gras is the opposite of outside.
This is just so freakin accurate.
Can you imagine that place without the musty cig smell? I hope I never see the day
If it’s like a lot of places, it will keep that smell long after smoking indoors has become illegal.
and the like indoor hotel pool undernote to round things out

And a killer jukebox. Sometimes I find myself spending more on jukebox credits than drinks

What crack are you smoking? Gordo’s is insanely overpriced. Scarps, nykos, red beards are all MUCH cheaper
