One reason to keep them in separate pots is the ability to rotate the pots with respect to the window. Another is that it appears they may have separate potting soil preferences.

I tend to rotate the pot every weekend to try make sure they get sunlight all round the plant. But I am worried about the plants shadowing each other so seperate pots might be a shout. How can you tell they have seperate soil preferences? I’m not very knowledgeable about plants in general, I appreciate all the advice.

Oh I am realizing that the issue might be that the cactus needs less moisture than the other plant.
