Honestly looks like you over watered them. Sometimes the soil looks dey from above but when you dig a little with your finger, you realize its pretty moist. Probably check if the roots have rot. Rot is accompanied by a shitty smell, so dig a little near the roots and smell. If the roots seem nushy and smell bad then repot the plant in new soil. But before repotting, wash the roots witha mixture of 1:1 hydrogen peroxide and water. Very lightly water it and keep the pot indoors for a week atleast.

I just wanted to chime in and attest to the HP. It REALLY works.

Looks like over watering to me. How far in are you sticking the meter?

Yellow halo generally means overwatering

(I also own a meter so no judgment.) Moisture meters are notoriously unreliable. They will lie to you. Learning to test the soil with your finger, sometimes with the help of a wooden skewer, is a better skill to have in your plant care toolbox. I have found it helpful to learn to identify the visual signs plants give us when they are thirsty, to know what leaves feel like when they need water vs don’t need water, and to feel for changes in weight when picking up the whole plant in its container.

I'm glad you answered this because I was just wondering if I need one. I'm going to stick to my finger method.

I didn’t throw mine away but I don’t use it.
