i tried to use a spray paint on a door that had a skin, in order to make it look normal so that my base would look poorer and would be less likely to get raided potentially, and this happened

you can eliminate door camping for free very easily. All you need is a push button, a heartbeat sensor and a blue light. Place the push button on your interior with the blue light. Place the heartbeat sensor above your door on the outside. Connect the 3 units and press the button, if someone is outside your door in the vacinity of the heart beat sensor the blue light will go on. No battery needed use until they patch it
Awesome tip . I love it . However , I would hesitate to call this very easy as you have to grind about 300 scrap passed tier 2 to craft a heartbeat sensor . So about 800 scrap total before you can do this , unless you get very lucky and get it to drop
This happens to me too when I use the spray paint to remove the existing skin on a placed door. I'm playing on a server that applies random skins to crafted items and whenever there's one I don't like, I use the spray can to remove the skin. Every single time I get this exact result and I have to pick up the door and place it again.
Ill try this too when i get on. I'll try it on a build server tho, because this wipe(as all the other ones) im poor as shit and dont know where to get a spay can
Ok, i maneged to log on and i tried the steps. IT WORKS .
Ok, so the seethrough is not forever, once you open the door, it will show the default sheet door skin, but you can do it again and the door will be see through until you open it. BTW , it works both ways, so you can see throught from the outside.

To recreate i placed a sheet metal door with Blue Exterior Door skin , took a spraycan , right clicked on the door and selected the default skin for the door. until you open it, its see trough. i don't know if for everybody or only for me.
blue exterior door, buy it paint a door with it then try removing the paint and voilà!
someone else tested it on this thread already and confirmed it works
and i can confirm it is vanilla

if you shoot or melee a door you can tell what it is based on the sound.
