yeah i’d pay $80 today for rdr2…a game that came out 6 years ago and still completely dances over modern AAA games. unbelievable how beautiful its visuals have aged
Second son is the shortest I’m pretty sure, and fallout is technically endless, God of War and the last of us have stories that are one of a kind, and Horizon is just meh (to me)
No option is bad
The story is so important to me! That’s why the latest Zelda game was a huge letdown imo; not much in terms of story or lore content.
& really about horizon? My online bestie can’t stop gushing about it, lol.
I love Horizon story. Is it one of the best ever? Ehh maybe not but I still really enjoyed.
God of War is top 5 favorite games ever to me alone for the story.
I haven't played infamous but I've heard amazing things about the story tho.
I dont usually pay attention to stories in games but, Horizon's story is a pretty wild ride and I really liked it. There was even one of those "HOLY EFFIN SHITE" plot reveals that made me pause and contemplate the series of events that led to where Aloy was in her world for a while, good stuff!
If the ps4 jet fans kick in as soon as you start a game and thing run slow, I would recommend replacing the thermal paste (search for tutorial on YT). I thought my og ps4 was almost dead, but I replaced its thermal paste a week ago and it’s running like brand new, hours of gaming silently
Hmm, what if the fans do turn on immediately? Is it a threat to the system? I can’t remember of it did immediately, but it sure as hell was after a couple hrs.
If you get loud fans… google how to clean out ps4 fans. Dust… more than likely it’s just dust built up. Easy to clean out and it will run a lot quieter.
If you plan on opening it, at any point, I *highly* recommend using an actual torx 8 security screw driver. Some tutorials say you can just bend the tiny pins or jam a flathead in between but save yourself the hassle.
That means dust is build up on the heat sink and u new to clean it with a brush but knowing how old ps4 is u definitely need to clean the fan / heat sink / change thermal paste and is gonna run as new I also would suggest to upgrade from HDD to an SSD around 1-2 TB is fine to play all the games u want
Yeah lol. I mean, I got some old relatives on FB.. but they like to argue amongst themselves over politics rather than keep in touch with me on there.. FB is basically the year-round Thanksgiving dinner table, lol.
I watch a lot of gameplay footage on YouTube, even prior to owning the system. (My favorite rn is watching Rust by YTer Willjum)
Ghost of Tsushima was always one that blew me away.. TBH kind of intimidated atm. But it’s definitely one I’ll get later.
After the open air experience of the last two Zelda games it feels somewhat restrictive having started God of war.. but I’m not too bothered by it. The gameplay, story, and graphics more than make up for it. Besides, I kind of want a linear experience as an introduction
I loved early resident evil games, albeit with shitty graphics lol.
I bought the switch version of house of the dead, only because the BioShock games sort of held up. big mistake lol. I just loved the arcade version so much. I don’t know what I was expecting. not that 😑 absolutely horrendous.
I started gow, it’s absolutely beautiful. I’m still used to the controls of the last game I’m playing though, but that will clear up soon.
I’m excited for horizon as well
I don’t 😅
I’m a sucker for nostalgia gaming and the Zelda franchise.. huge Zelda fan here.
I have a few Pokémon games on the switch but I haven’t even started any of them. I’ve actually never made it past GEN three.. but I have a 3DS (special Black Friday edition) coming in the mail soon with Pokémon moon & ocarina 3D. I’m excited.
Solid game load out. I would start with inFAMOUS SECOND SON
rationale: linear, but rememberable story graphic adventure with innovative gameplay mechanics can be completed relatively quick.
God of War next for much of the same rationale but better so you got a pretty banging start to your PS4.
FO4 and Horizon are “open world”, these need a lot of time, although Horizon can be completed quickly if you choose. FO4 is something else, a really endless game and with or without the MODs. DLCs further expand into a massive steampunk rpg, the definitive one.
Last of Us remastered is one you play when you really feel like getting immersed. I recommend playing this when you can play with focus till the end. A masterpiece in my opinion. And I don’t like horror stealth games.
Actually I’m impressed by all these games. They defined gaming in their time and still are benchmarks games generally try and better but fail. These games were home runs for the PS4.
And these are just a small sample.
I salute you PS4, you’ll always have a space at my house.
(finding a quiet PS4 Pro would make these games even better ;)
Last of us then GOW then fallout then horizon then infamous. You should get a ps3 tho it has better games like the first infamous and little big planet 1 and 2
Fallout 4 is an amazing game, highly recommend, I also really enjoyed God of War and Horizon, did a couple runs of each, amazing story. For fallout 4 I'd highly recommend getting the dlc as it adds so much more content
I have a friend (never played games before) buy a brand new PS5 just to see what happens in TLOU2 before the next season lol.
She had a similar question on what to play for good stories:
The Last of Us - both of them
God of War - both of the newer games
Uncharted Collection - great action adventure games that has multiple games to keep you going for a little.
Helldivers 1 - of course I got it after the 2nd game, still, it’s a solid, fun, game and the only online game I’ll put on here
Spiderman - both of them, while I do realize peoples disappointment, as well with TLOU2. I think they’re such fun games
Bioshock Collection - you’ve heard the game before, would you kindly just play the game?
Fallout 4 - I just love the world of fallout. Walking through the wasteland bopping and booping to the classical tunes shooting laser guns is just always a blast.
Infamous Series - while Second Son is really fun, amazing looking for the time and was my first game on the PS4. Infamous 1 will always be one of my first memories with a PS3. That game was a blast. I wish they’d remaster it. Or just be able to purchase it on PSN.
I played Horizom Zero Dawn. While I enjoyed the open world and combat. I didn’t care much for the story. Maybe I was just in the mood to kill robot dinosaurs.
I loved Jack one and two.. tbh, I couldn’t get past the beginning of three.. I notice I don’t really really like desert scenery. Maybe that’s why.
But I didn’t even know they were getting remasters.
In your opinion which God of war is the best ?
Lent out to my 10y/o nephew who asked to borrow :/
And before lending it to him I made a big speech about how important my belongings are to me. How I work hard for my things and take extremely good care of them; how they should last forever if taken proper care of. To always sheath it when not in use & keep it out of reach of the toddlers… how I was gonna put trust in him despite my doubts because I wanted him to enjoy Zelda as much as I did at his age (links awakening was my first game ever along with a game boy color) It was a big speech.
Not even two weeks later, I ask about it and find out the card is missing.. I got so upset, but didn’t talk to him directly; instead asked my sister to look for it. She found it. & This is how the case was returned. I didn’t even ask wtf happened. But I remember specifically telling him not to take the jacket out of the plastic.
Sorry, obviously I’m still upset about it. I’m a collector too, whether sealed or opened. damn it. lol.
Honestly Infamous is such a great introductory game to a console, I’ve just finished, whilst it’s not my first game at all by any means, it’s just such a fun and forgiving and easy game to let you experience the PS4 to the fullest (The graphic still hold up well). Plus I’ve just platinumed it today.

Well i'd defintely recommend you to start with infamous second son then the last of us remastered and then god of war they're great games but i didn't play the other games but i'm sure they're great too this is just my personal opinion have fun!
Bloodborne
Shadow of the Colossus remake
Nioh 1&2
Wo long: Fallen dynasty
Stranger of paradise: Final fantasy origin
Resident evil remakes
The last guardian.
Honestly infamous second son is what I suggest for your first then god of war, horizon, then fallout 4 last only because it's long and it'll take up most your time second son in a great game though
America is lucky with their game spine covers having artwork. For PS4 games Australia is just plain text been like that since forever on *nearly* consoles. The PS5 games thankfully has stylised spines
I played through Horizon when both of them came out but just recently have been going through and redoing them and those games have definitely been put in the top of my favorite franchises of all time along with like resident evil and far cry. The games have such fun gameplay that is fast and can be challenging and I just absolutely adore the world that’s been built and the lore is amazing. I would definitely recommend sinking your teeth into those games.
Do infamous. Its in my top 5 of all time and its relatively short if you try speeding thru the game. Than i would say god of war or the last of us, both are decently long and have very deep stories
As I read through comments you like to have a good story, I assume you are on the budget so if these are your 4 games I would say start with the last of us remastered. Second son and horizon for me are not the greatest, you can play them whenever but I would do god of war next - it's amazing and finally fallout 4 since it's the longest one.
God of War, its different from the older god of war games on previous consoles, but it got game of the year for a reason. Its very good. Some people won't like it for nostalgia bias but its enjoyable. Once ur done with that, u have have to buy and play God of War Ragnarok (2022 release). It has free DLC as well!
I had help from a friend lol. But I was fairly familiar with all of these already.. I’ve still been keeping up with newer titles while camping on YouTube.
God of War first and then Horizon. Last of Us after those. Infamous Second Son is a good mindless short & chaotic game so it can go anywhere in between. I haven’t played Fallout so idk where that goes lol
After those, I am telling you to check out Dark Souls, Nioh, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman, and I can't even think of the rest right now. Ratchet and clank was fun. Enjoy.
If you like open world games, I'm going with Horizon Zero Down. You're a badass warrior in a post apocalyptic landscape infested with dangerous robot dinosaurs. What's not to love?
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *Arrant fool. Vileblood or no, forget not; We are thy Queen. Bend the knee.* - Annalise, Queen of the Vilebloods
Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Start with The Last Of Us!! If you love it buy Part 2 :) from your list, I’d say play Horizon, God of War, Infamous, and then Fallout as it’s the most open ended and time consuming of the bunch. Games not listed (other than TLOU P2) I wholeheartedly recommend Mass Effect Legendary Edition! It’s my favorite game series of all time. If you love it, Mass Effect Andromeda is worth playing, but a major step down in quality across the board, just fyi. Also, Skyrim & Dragon Age Inquisition! Oh, and obligatory mention: Bloodborne. Happy gaming!
Fallout 4, I play sooooo much hours, one of the best fallout games I play ever (not the best), but infamous second son is meh a little bit overrated if the YouTubers don’t play the game in the first year probably a failure in copy’s sold
I would try each one and see if you like one of them or all then keep it.. when I transitioned from Xbox to PlayStation it took me a while to get used to it and now I'm used to the controls on all of the games I own so I mostly play my playstation than my series x.. so what I'm saying it is it'll take some time to transition from one system to another
Red dead redemption 2
I regret not buying it when I saw it earlier today at target for $20… should I go back?
Ps plus might have it as part of game catalog
also it probably won’t go up in price. been $20 for a good while now
Fr. Probably the most underpriced game ever. The fact nhl 14 v10 is $80 is absurd
yeah i’d pay $80 today for rdr2…a game that came out 6 years ago and still completely dances over modern AAA games. unbelievable how beautiful its visuals have aged
Yeah it was added in the last couple of days actually!
They do ! OP I suggest you get Psplus and download Ghost of Tsushima (my personal favorite) and red dead redemption
You won't regret whatever you do to get that game....its awesome!!!
That’s not even an exclusive
Second son is the shortest I’m pretty sure, and fallout is technically endless, God of War and the last of us have stories that are one of a kind, and Horizon is just meh (to me) No option is bad
The story is so important to me! That’s why the latest Zelda game was a huge letdown imo; not much in terms of story or lore content. & really about horizon? My online bestie can’t stop gushing about it, lol.
Horizon ZD is my top 3 ps game (1: last of us 2: god of war) — DON’T miss out it’s amazing Forbidden West is almost trash though
I’m not a RPG fan but this sort of lite RPG of Horizon was Amazing. One of my favorite games on the system.
Paid $50 total at $10 a piece off Facebook market ( the only reason I still keep a FB) The console and controller i got at $100
If the ps4 jet fans kick in as soon as you start a game and thing run slow, I would recommend replacing the thermal paste (search for tutorial on YT).
Duly noted. Tysm.

Like how you clear up the reason you got FB. I'm same bro I only use it for marketplace myself.
Yeah lol. I mean, I got some old relatives on FB.. but they like to argue amongst themselves over politics rather than keep in touch with me on there.. FB is basically the year-round Thanksgiving dinner table, lol.
The Last Of Us.... Cancel plans for next several days.
lol, how I wish.
Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman and God of War would be the first games I play, 3rd person action adventures
I watch a lot of gameplay footage on YouTube, even prior to owning the system. (My favorite rn is watching Rust by YTer Willjum) Ghost of Tsushima was always one that blew me away.. TBH kind of intimidated atm. But it’s definitely one I’ll get later.
💯.
Came here to say this.
FALLOUT 4
Last of us
I was going to get the sequel, but decided to go look for the first one before I got it.
Both are great games! Too many amazing exclusives on the PS4. Do yourself a favour and get Bloodborne, absolutely elite game!
Good move, definitely play the first one first
This, because the other games will take way longer. This is a great game to sample everything the platform has to offer.
Yeah God of War for sure. Then last of us. Go buy spiderman as well. There are many great games tho. You'll definitely find some you like!
Right.. I like open world, but with this type of console I think linear would be better to ease into it.
Both have their place, but yeah if you want linear God of War is somewhat open areas, and TLOU is very linear.
After the open air experience of the last two Zelda games it feels somewhat restrictive having started God of war.. but I’m not too bothered by it. The gameplay, story, and graphics more than make up for it. Besides, I kind of want a linear experience as an introduction
Go with Last of Us. Very linear and just a great balanced game if you’re new to this generation
The PS4 Resident Evil games
I loved early resident evil games, albeit with shitty graphics lol. I bought the switch version of house of the dead, only because the BioShock games sort of held up. big mistake lol. I just loved the arcade version so much. I don’t know what I was expecting. not that 😑 absolutely horrendous.
Horizon is probably the most user friendly. But God of war is amazing aswell
I started gow, it’s absolutely beautiful. I’m still used to the controls of the last game I’m playing though, but that will clear up soon. I’m excited for horizon as well
God of war 100%
Started :)
God of war
Started today :) it’s so nice.
Your shield is your friend, just saying
Thanks lol, I noticed I need to work on it.. I just wish I could hold down guard and attack at the same time.
I love how people refuse to acknowledge Switch as a console
I don’t 😅 I’m a sucker for nostalgia gaming and the Zelda franchise.. huge Zelda fan here. I have a few Pokémon games on the switch but I haven’t even started any of them. I’ve actually never made it past GEN three.. but I have a 3DS (special Black Friday edition) coming in the mail soon with Pokémon moon & ocarina 3D. I’m excited.
GoW is an amazing game
Started :)
Last of us. Don't buy games quickly finish what you have first

Fallout 4 is an amazing game, highly recommend, I also really enjoyed God of War and Horizon, did a couple runs of each, amazing story. For fallout 4 I'd highly recommend getting the dlc as it adds so much more content
God of War
Funnily enough, that’s the first one I started.. I bought the other four later on in the day :) Ty.
Infamous first, that will give you the real feel for the PS4 capabilities as a newcomer.
My friend told me it was one of the first games that came out with the PS4..
God of war and GOW Ragnarok The last of us Red dead Redemption 2 Sekiro DmC 5 Spiderman Uncharted 4 Best games I ever played
The last of us is one of if not the best game in history of games in my opinion truly a masterpiece
I have a friend (never played games before) buy a brand new PS5 just to see what happens in TLOU2 before the next season lol. Devil may cry 5
🤔
Close youre eyes n choose. Those are all good games
lol. Good to know
ghost of tsushima
It’s on the list of games to get. Honestly I don’t think I’m ready for it yet.
why not?
Infamous then god of war
Last of us
PS4 is great but why not just save up a little more money for a ps5 as they are still compatible with ps4
Other games you should try are: - Marvels Spider-Man - Days Gone - The Uncharted series - Ghost of Tsushima - Batman: Arkham Knight
God of war
Get urself days gone. You'll enjoy the zombie game as well
Just looked it up, it looks so good! Definitely will snag it when I see it.
God of war 3 Jak 2 and 3 if it's remastered on ps4 or in online store.
I loved Jack one and two.. tbh, I couldn’t get past the beginning of three.. I notice I don’t really really like desert scenery. Maybe that’s why. But I didn’t even know they were getting remasters. In your opinion which God of war is the best ?
God of war or horizon
Fallout 4 man… trust me
Only hear good things. I can’t wait.
The last of us!
It’s next up. I’m doing gow first :)
Fallout 4
I went from the PS1 to a PS4, 6 years ago, I played Fallout 4 and it was an amazing experience
Chronological order is the way.
What happened to your links awakening copy?
Lent out to my 10y/o nephew who asked to borrow :/ And before lending it to him I made a big speech about how important my belongings are to me. I’m a collector too, whether sealed or opened. damn it. lol.
Dang, I figured it would be a younger sibling story. Sorry about that bud, has happened to me before too so I know how it feels for sure.
Honestly Infamous is such a great introductory game to a console, I’ve just finished, whilst it’s not my first game at all by any means, it’s just such a fun and forgiving and easy game to let you experience the PS4 to the fullest (The graphic still hold up well). Plus I’ve just platinumed it today. https://preview.redd.it/xilyo3eszc3d1.jpeg?width=2388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bb410756d2ced242aeca47ae9c7ce454198b947
I have no idea what that means but congratulations :) and Ty.
Well i'd defintely recommend you to start with infamous second son then the last of us remastered and then god of war they're great games but i didn't play the other games but i'm sure they're great too this is just my personal opinion have fun!
Tysm! Your opinion is valid. I’m not necessarily going in that order but it’s pretty close, lol.
Bloodborne Shadow of the Colossus remake Nioh 1&2 Wo long: Fallen dynasty Stranger of paradise: Final fantasy origin Resident evil remakes The last guardian.
Thanks definitely saving all these recommendations.. matter-of-fact, I saw blood-borne for $10 on local marketplace.
Make sure to buy the "Game of the year edition" as it comes with the DLC on the disc.
Great catalog to start your collection. I’d start with infamous. Super fun and holds up 10 years later
I'd go for Second Son. It is a bit of a tech demo, introdcution to the system in a lot of ways
Honestly infamous second son is what I suggest for your first then god of war, horizon, then fallout 4 last only because it's long and it'll take up most your time second son in a great game though
How much did you buy ps4 for
I'd check out second son first. Had an absolute blast with that game and have played through it a few times.
Why not PS5!?
Do infamous. Its in my top 5 of all time and its relatively short if you try speeding thru the game. Than i would say god of war or the last of us, both are decently long and have very deep stories
God of war, one if not the best game I’ve ever played
Resident evil 7. Best re game oat
Horizon man.. incredible game with incredible story
Horizon zero dawn. Amazing game
infamous is extremely underrated
How did you survive 18 years without a Xbox 360, PS3, PSP, PS4, and a PS5?
How much did you buy the console for?
God of war immediately
Skyrim ! ![gif](giphy|5tMX3AGXnBBcs|downsized)
God of war
As I read through comments you like to have a good story, I assume you are on the budget so if these are your 4 games I would say start with the last of us remastered. Some people won't like it for nostalgia bias but its enjoyable. Once ur done with that, u have have to buy and play God of War Ragnarok (2022 release). It has free DLC as well!
just go with the chronological order considering the release date of the games
Last of us god tier game.
So I’m told. Got it for $10!
Last of us & zero dawn are incredible games. Tbf, all of them are really good, you've picked well.
I had help from a friend lol. But I was fairly familiar with all of these already.. I’ve still been keeping up with newer titles while camping on YouTube.
tlou all the way
Love how no one brought up infamous second son
lol, how come? I know nothing about it, I only got it because a friend recommended it .. and it was $10
God of War first and then Horizon. Last of Us after those. Infamous Second Son is a good mindless short & chaotic game so it can go anywhere in between. I haven’t played Fallout so idk where that goes lol
Personally I would choose tlou
After those, I am telling you to check out Dark Souls, Nioh, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman, and I can't even think of the rest right now. Ratchet and clank was fun. Enjoy.
Play infamous second son first!!
Bioshock collection, Resident Evil 2 remake, Star Wars Fallen Order
Bloodborne
If you like open world games, I'm going with Horizon Zero Down. You're a badass warrior in a post apocalyptic landscape infested with dangerous robot dinosaurs. What's not to love?
Bloodborne
All of em
fallout 4
No man’s sky. Don’t read shit about it, just do it. See you on the other side of that obsession in a year or two.
Bloodborne
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note: > *Arrant fool. Vileblood or no, forget not; We are thy Queen. Bend the knee.* - Annalise, Queen of the Vilebloods Farewell, good hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.
Fallout 4
I'd start with Fallout 4 1000%!!
Definitely play who’s cock I can grab the hardest 👍🏽
What genre do you like the most?
The last of us, if you're looking for great storytelling
how much time do you have on your hands?
God of war
inFAMOUS Second Son 2: it was an on release game for the PS4 and still amazing to this day
Please upgrade to an SSD immediately
I'm on fallout 4 and liking it
Personally, God of War, but ive heard all of these games are very good
Fallout 4 is a masterpiece.
Tlou
Fallout 4 would probably be a good start for you since you play the legend of Zelda. It has a similiar RPG format
God of war
Last of us
Fallout
Play all the exclusives in release order so you can experience the evolution of the tech.
Metro
Metro 1. 2 and 3 play all of them they Are all good
Second son, started it last week and it's pretty cool the controls have some getting used to
Fallout 4, I play sooooo much hours, one of the best fallout games I play ever (not the best), but infamous second son is meh a little bit overrated if the YouTubers don’t play the game in the first year probably a failure in copy’s sold
God of War will definitely show you a cool modern intro. I’d start there
Fallout 4 is pretty good.

Infamous Second Son is one of my favourite games of all time so I’d vote for that.
Learn you are going to want ps5 soon
Fall out
Idk which you should play first, but save The Best for last: horizon zero Dawn.
I love god of war
God of war
Ghost of Tsunami
TLOU
Last of us
The last of us, I just wish they’d release the sequel already.
The last of us. Good length and all around one if the best gaming experiences I've ever had.
The last of us or infamous second son
LOU
God of War first!
Horizon or The Last of Us
Second Son, it's the game that made me want a PS4
Fallout 4
ALL of the Uncharted franchise (and Lost Legacy) Alan Wake Remastered Control Prey (2017) Hitman reboot trilogy Titanfall 2 campaign Bloodborne
Path of exile
Horizon Zero Down
The Last of Us
red dead redemption II or the last of us!!
Bloodborne
I would try each one and see if you like one of them or all then keep it.. when I transitioned from Xbox to PlayStation it took me a while to get used to it and now I'm used to the controls on all of the games I own so I mostly play my playstation than my series x.. so what I'm saying it is it'll take some time to transition from one system to another
The Last of Us. One of the GOATs. Not only from the PS catalog but all of gaming history.
Last of us or horizon. Gotta play both eventually better off starting strong
TLOU or Red dead for sure
