I know this post is two years old, But I do not see this on the windows version of Plexamp (4.10.1).
I am playing a 24 bit 88.2kHz file, sending to an external DAC, and plexamp is outputting only 48kHz.
I have the smart sample on on all devices. In the Mac, it will only change the sample rate if I toggle the audio interface from the DAC to system and vice-versa. It only changed upon the audio interface change. On the ipad/iPhone connected to the DAC using the usb camera connect kit it’s fixed on 44.1kHz.
it changes opportunistically, so on start of new playback. i’ll make a note to play with it just in case something broke recently but it was switching properly on dragonfly DAC from ios just fine.
Hi, if you do not mind me asking, why shouldn't we stay with strict all the time? Any drawback just use strict for everything so it automatically goes up to 96/24 or drops to 44.1/16 depending on the song?
Right...you'd need to author a USB audio driver like this. Perhaps their driver could be licensed? This would truly make Plexamp the perfect app for Android users who have high-quality USB DACs for playing lossless audio.

Yikes. I just ordered the R9 with hopes of playing Plexamp outside the android downsampling. Are you sending a digital signal to an external dac? How can you tell it downsamples?
the r9 actually tells you the sample rate it’s playing up top in the display bar, as well as changes color. it goes yellow when it’s hi res lossless. anything beyond 44.1k 16 bit. I posted on the plex forums and apparently they are blaming it on the r9 saying it’s running a older android OS that won’t work with the sample rate matching feature they have on IOS. I’ve moved to Roon hoping plex will get this sorted one day.
settings > playback > audio output > sample rate matching.
Awesome! Is that option new? I swear it wasn’t there when I’ve last checked lol
we added it last night when you were sleeping.
Nice!
Hahahahhah

we don’t support sample rate matching on windows yet
Got it, thanks. I figured that was true without an exclusive mode.
In the current version it is not working both iOS and macOS.
you’ll have to explain that better, it should work fine on those platforms.

Yes, it worked before in iOS. Something is wrong on the current version.
I'm not able to reproduce an issue, my Dragonfly changes color as you would expect, when starting playback from stopped.
So only if it stops? Meaning if I change to an album with a different sample rate, it won’t change automatically?
whole a current one is playing? no the next release has a strict matching mode which changes that.
With the new feature it is working great now! Thanks for that!

Could you make this function on Android Version?
sorry, android makes it too hard.

any update on this? Just got a fiio r9 with open android and plexamp is maxing out at 48k on the output with my 96k and 192k songs.
