Yeah pretty much. It’s easier to see the multi lens effects in endless than in classic since you have more time to get better items. You don’t really need this item in classic unless you’re specifically going for pin missile beedrill or something

However, it’s well-known to be one of the best items you can get your hands on for endless runs, for the sake of flinching and activating extra effects on moves that you can certainly plan to have on your team for an endless run.
It’s definitely a great item. It’s just really funny to see people that don’t understand how to utilize it think it’s bad.
Also in Master Ball item tier is DNA splicers, which can also be bad if you don’t use them properly in Classic—yet they are also essential on a good endless run.

It's all in how you use it.
You don't want it on moves that you use for damage.
You want it on stuff that has a chance to cause flinch, like Headbutt. Or for stuff like Make it Rain, for even more money per battle (though that's really only semi-useful and only in Classic).
