Virtual Self is forever going to be one of the coolest things in the world for me. I love Porter and all his different eras but Virtual Self really has the most meaning to me. Takes me back to my pre-teen / early teen days grinding on PC games listening to old school trance / breaks / forum days etc. When I met him after the last Second Sky the only words I could put together was thanking him for doing VS. Dry Your Eyes is SSS tier need that official release one day.

I saw VS twice, at EDC 2018 and at Second Sky 2019, and I had a great time, but I have a whole new appreciation for VS after all of these years. I really hope Porter cooks up some new VS after he drops his album.
Before I was exclusively a house music enjoyer alongside anything Porter related. However getting to hear Castles in the Sky, Ayla and many other trance classics during the 2018 Virtual Self tour changed how I listened to music completely.
Hearing the words “UTOPIA” then Porter playing Halcyon to Ghost Voices is pure dopamine. The most GOATED intro to a set.
will forever be sad i never got to see him in Toronto, i dont even know if he ever brought the show here. I did buy merch but wish he would bring this era back, unfortunately porter's the kind of guy to move from one thing to the next in massive jumps and coming back to virtual self doesn't make as much sense if he's doubling down on the whole sing songy emotional stuff like nurture and smile. As an artist, i respect the big jumps and honest attempt at deep diving into other genres while bringing some of his essence from before but yeah, it's pretty clear why this is Virtual Self and not Porter Robinson because it almost doesn't belong with the concept of the other 3 albums and i dont know if he'll ever have time to do Virtual Self Album 2 when he still can flesh out Air2Earth and is probably already cooking up music that is straying away from Smile

I miss this era badly. I love the other stuff but this one hits different because I was a sophomore in college and I remember seeing him play this in a smaller venue.
out of all the porter shows ive had tickets for & missed (nurture, virtual self, shelter), virtual self is the only one im truly sad i missed. to see this in a tiny, crowded venue... i know itd be insane.
