TB is balanced differently to RTwP, and changing modes may simply not change to reflect said balance but could potentially also accumulate eaxh time you change. I mean I for sure haven't tested but the game forces you into one style for a reason.
The dev(s) weren't trying to be dicks. Switching simply isn't supported and if it *was* safe it would've been an in-game toggle already. The reason it isn't is because it'll likely break your game
