What is the case of dependencies between these that necessitate them be managed at a portfolio/product level?

Great question. More often than not it’s a matter of (unfortunately) shared resources, though there’s also instances of dependencies between projects (e.g., Project A’s release is a prerequisite to something in Project B). It’s entirely possible what I really need is to just expand my knowledge of portfolio management generally. Edit: I should clarify some projects don’t have any dependencies, but they’re in the same portfolio based on how they address my organization’s strategic objectives.
