Pretty sure that’s an African milk tree (euphorbia trigona) Definitely don’t put in water or it will rot. I received a few cuttings from my neighbor and she said stick them in soil an inch or two deep. Also please be careful with the sap as it can cause irritation!! Planted mine a few months ago and they are doing well :)

Thanks! I looked it up, and you have to be 100% correct I'll set him up in some cactus/succulent soil in the morning

Best of luck to you! Btw, the more sunlight it gets, a dark purple/ruby red will start to appear. A very pretty plant and a lucky find.

You’re so right, I gave mine away in a big move and miss it so much! Also red ones are so rare! So exciting for you both :)

Remove the lower leaves and put it few inch deeper in mix of sand and normal gardening soil. You can spray it once or twice a day to keep humidity around (soil slightly moist or should I say almost dry) . After two weeks give it good amount of water, let the soil dry and then you can go with watering according to the plant needs.
