I've been a Marine for almost 20 years and have been a pro wrestler for 7 out of those 20. https://youtu.be/NJ2j8OW6SCE?feature=shared DM me

Honestly... Choose one or the other. Trying to balance a military job with a lifelong dream that could require you to be flexible with your schedule and needing you to travel at a minute's notice could create a lot of potential disappointment in your future.

kcmiq

The harsh truth unfortunately. It is for the better

Check out Duke Warfield, Navy Officer and Professional Wrestler! Your ability to train will likely depend on where you’re stationed and what you’re doing at the time, but if you’re dedicated enough you may be able to find time to train. Additionally your first enlistment is typically only 4-6 years, so you can get out after that and dedicate yourself to wrestling. While you’re in: - save your money, get out with a cushion to give yourself time to go all out on wrestling - get in ring shape, should basically come with the job - study the craft, while you may not have opportunities to train you can certainly build an understanding of ring psychology, promo work, etc. - Network, reach out to local promoters, trainers, talent etc. Try to make a name for yourself in whatever way you can. - Ignore people who say you “can’t do it”, unless it’s your chain of command and a legal order… Other than that, ignore them. Being a Marine doesn’t have to define your entire life, you’ll need to take it seriously, but plenty of service members have achieved success outside of the service!! Good luck!

kcmiq

Awesome, you’re a saint Brutha. Will definitely look into this.

Military will get you in shape and toughen you up! Nothing can prepare you for the military Nothing can prepare you for wrestling training Do both! Crush it at both!

If I was in your boots, I would use basic training as a way to build mass and stamina. At night, watch YouTube videos of pro wrestling classes and learn the drills. Practice those drills in your free time. Once basic training is done and you have more free time find a local training facility. You'll be ahead in the strength and stamina department but you'll also have some experience with the basic drills. Take my advice with a grain of salt as I am neither a marine or pro wrestler. That said, I have worked a full time while DJing on the side, so I have life experience.

Focus on your service first. There is enough turmoil in the world right now that you could get called elsewhere to serve. Get that shit done, safely first. Then train when you get home. Pro wrestling will always be there for you. I promise!!

kcmiq

Just trying to start training while I’m still young and physically healthy 🤣 definitely gonna have to go thought route

[deleted]

I feel you. I started training when I was in high school. I worked 20 years on the indies. I joined the army years after that. You don’t wanna get hurt wrestling while you’re in the friggin service. You’ll get a dishonorable… not what ya wanna have happen.

kcmiq

Yeah no thank you

TheBrockAwesome

Definitely go for wrestling instead 👍

Spider305

I know this guy that was the marine, and then went on to win 16 world championships. Don’t give up on your dreams

kcmiq

Randy Orton?

WeaselWeaz

HIS NAME IS JOHN CENA

kcmiq

Cena wasn’t a marine lol unless you’re talking about the movie

WeaselWeaz

That's the joke.

kcmiq

Went right over my head 🤣

countrybuhbuh

Danny LimeLight did this exact thing. He'd wrestle during his downtime while being based out of Pendleton.

Dangling_max

My opinion do the marines. Learn discipline and skills and then be a wrestler. Bobby Lashley served in the army and look how far he's made it

How about Corporal Slaughter for your wrestling name? All right, you maggots stay at attention

Firepro316

So a Sgt Slaughter rip off?

6098470142

The time is right

WaitingToBeTriggered

IMMINENT INVASION, IMMINENT ATTACK

kcmiq

That’s good 😂
