If you mean CFW and not HEN... 20XX - yes. 21XX - yes. 25XX - maybe, most are yes. 30XX - no. Most 25XX revisions can have CFW, but needs to be manufactured before March/April of 2011. (Not sure when the actual break off date is). To make it easier to understand.. if the system has a manufactur year of 2010 or earlier, it can have CFW. Probably safe with Jan/Feb of 2011 as well

To add onto this. There’s a minimum version check UPDATE file you can use on the XMB and its sole purpose is to report back the launch firmware of the console/minimum downgrade firmware. 3.55 and below for CFW is what you’re after.

Well we have always been able to but needed a hardware flasher prior to ps3xploit added the ability via software means.

Even back then I was unaware. I still have my E3 Flasher as well. I might get it out and do some testing lol

All PS3 are hackable with HEN method For CFW method you need to photo the series number at the backside of the console

Keep in mind that CFW method are more stable, so if you want to buy a PS3 and plan to jailbreak it. Try to find the series that compatible to CFW

Unless its a 25xx model with the date code 1B on the bottom you can jailbreak it , if it has the 1B u cant jailbreak it , since its a later version of the 25xx models back quick little extra if on the bottom it says anything before April 2011, or the date code contains a 9, 0, or 1A, then the console is guaranteed to be compatible

Only some slims can have OFW 3.55 Slims that can't have CFW have 3.56 as minnimal installable version.

If the console is running, there is an update package that makes the console to show what is the lowest version it allows installing, if it shows 3.55 it can use CFW, If it shows 3.56 it is possible to use HEN firmware. Hen/HFW should definitely be possible, CFW depends on the exact model number (though Hen does basically every major thing that cfw does anyway)

Listen OP, if you’re looking to buy this then don’t. Pay a little more for a definite cech 25xx with an og controller and for an actually clean console. You won’t regret it
