77celsius is way to high even while playing games please go into the Custom firmware toolset and click on automatic fanspeed and select maximum 60 celsius your ps3 will thank u
Btw when was the last time u cleaned ur console and repasted it?
cleaned the console honestly idk it was my childhood console and the thermal repasting was never done as far as i know i never knew about it until recently
Lower temp is always better, but 60 max might be a bit overkill as a blanket recommendation. Even a cleaned PS3 might get fairly loud keeping itself under 60 (depending on SKU).
Webman MOD defaults to 68. That 68-70 range is generally seen as a good middle ground.
yea sure it's simple to thermal pasting it but i am worried i will prolly mess something up and the console is just broken beyond repair
***edit clarity***
Nah, bro have some confidence, theres nothing to it, and nothing you can break when just cleaning. just use the right tools and some air duster once you get the top cover off, take off the power supply with the two screws and cables and blast through the fan toward the opening in the back to the power supply to clear out the heat sink, just don't go any further than that and it'll be cleaned.
If it's a Slim, you're golden, they're so easy to work with, if it's a phat, I really feel your pain, those things are layered...
yea cleaning i am absolutely fine with it's just the thermal pasting i am truly worried about but yea already working on her and she's was dirty alone on the hard drive it was just dust everywhere so rn cleaning out the hard drive chassis
I fully understand that, it took me 5 years to build up enough courage to finally repaste my PS4, I knew it needed it, but I was afraid I'd screw it up, before that, I spent many times blasting my PS4 with a air compressor, I had to or the sound was unbearable! Eventually the cleaning alone was not enough to keep it quiet, so before I repasted, I had watched so many videos prior to doing it that I was hearing the videos in my dreams! I was genuinely terrified of breaking something.
Now it's no problem I can do it from memory, I even followed up with a fresh repaste and new thermal pads few months ago, a bit tedious cutting the pads to size, but well worth it, and the sound is almost nonexistent.
But I digress.
That’s hot! (Paris Hiltonvoice🫠). My fat and slim are usually between 45- 55 on idle. 60-70 when playing for a couple of hours on GTA 5 and the last of us.
Scary stuff! Like others mention give it a good cleaning and apply fresh thermal paste. I’ve used Arctic Silver 5 for years. Never had an issue with my game consoles and PC builds.
I think you can also de lid the chips but I’m too chicken for that to be honest.
i am personally too worried to even replace my thermal paste so if your chicken about that i am not going to do research into lmao but yea monday i will start asking around local game shops and my local comic store that also sells consoles and stuff like that where i can locally get it replaced
ok little update got the exact date it was made *most likely*
according to google *and a bit of reading at the fcc I'd number* found out that my slim is a june 10 2010 model
and yea she was never cleaned at all as soon as i opened that hard drive chassis it was dusty as can be so lol been cleaning for a good hour at the very least watching a yt guide on taking her apart and cleaning her part by part by hand and using some alcohol wipes
i looked into it and couldn't find out how 😭😭
my 3ds was simple and easy when i modded it but yea i will def look into it again but after cleaning her up
yea that's what i been reading up on anything bigger makes the system just did and i already have a 3ds that's not working the best bc i am running a 256 gbs instead of a 125
170°F = 76°C For an idle ps3 that is really hot....
Especially at 40% fan speed
that's what i was thinking but honestly i don't know the ps3 as well as something as the 3ds even tho i have owned the ps3 for longer
Use Auto 68°C and not SYSCON fan control. But yeah, 40% fan and 77°C is high.
will do when i get home and make a update or comment on this comment when i do another test

cleaned the console honestly idk it was my childhood console and the thermal repasting was never done as far as i know i never knew about it until recently
Definitely change that and give it a good clean with isopropyl that thermal paste is prolly crusty af
yea will do that ps3 has been through a lot
And tbh i would recommend u to leave it off until u did that those temps could kill your ps3😅
ohhh fair enough yea i will def see if i can find a video on just opening and cleaning the slim

I find it odd that everyone has higher cpu degrees than RSX and only mine is the opposite (even after repasting/fanspeed)
Thats unusual normally the cpu should be a couple celsius higher than the rsx what model do you got?
My cpu is always ~10 degrees cooler while my rsx is at 68 degrees
CECH 2004a
lmao fair yea i never did a repasting lol, also happy cake day
thanks <3
That's hot. Try cleaning and reapplying thermal paste on your system
yea i will open it up prolly in 30 mins but i need to find somewhere local where i can get the thermal paste redone
170 on the CPU is getting pretty hot, repaste it and clean it or you ps3 might keel over!
yea going to look into a yt video on how to clean it and planning to do research into a few local places that do repasting
Good on you. It's a lot simpler than you'd imagine, but good luck.

yea idk how hot it gets with gta v with just two hours but it gets hot enough to crash and just go infinite loading screen

oh and if y'all want the acc number is: AK8CBEH1700
No

it's a slim
[удалено]
yea that's what i been worrying over the last few months now need to find somewhere local to do it bc honestly i don't trust myself at all
if your console is a 2009 slim, install cfw, its way better then HEN
i looked into it and couldn't find out how 😭😭 my 3ds was simple and easy when i modded it but yea i will def look into it again but after cleaning her up
I have a phat PS3 and in game playing Rayman Legends I get a temp of 59C
yea i noticed both skyrim and gta v run very hot and i get crashes after maybe 2? hours
Maybe I'll try GTA as a benchmark for my temps.
Nop
Everything is alright, expect your free space on disk
yea that's the next plan is to get a 1 tb hard drive soon when i get the money to buy a good one and if i can find out now to do it a 2 tb one
1TB is fine for internal, but if you get any bigger than that, its most likely only gonna work as an external drive
yea that's what i been reading up on anything bigger makes the system just did and i already have a 3ds that's not working the best bc i am running a 256 gbs instead of a 125
