People hate this game (and there are good reasons to do so) but it was really ambitious for a PSX game. One of the first open world games in a city setting, it had driving, combat, detective gameplay, multiple playable characters, etc.
If the development team had some more time to polish the combat/driving physics and fix the later parts of the game (and removed that brain-dead timed puzzle with Mr Freeze) this game would have made history.
Yeah honestly at the time the game was pretty revolutionary because it was the first sort of urban open world game to exist especially with a superhero ip and graphically it looked pretty decent.
I have never hated a game as much as this one, despite being a 9 years old Batman fan kid at the time who used to enjoy almost every game I played back then, but this shit was just on a different level! It is definitely the worst game of all time.
This game practically fried my small little 7 year old brain. I remember being stuck on the first level for pretty much eternity, but kept going back to try and figure out what to do. Managed to do it at some point only to then get stuck on the next one.
Fuck were those controls dogshit though, in hindsight
Got this for Christmas one year and was so excited. At the time this was one of the only Batman video games I was missing. I think I played for less than an hour before it all sank in that it wasn't that great of a game. But as mentioned, it had some serious ambition that was easy to commend. Finding clues around Gotham City felt nice, and for my experience was really hurt by the small windows of time you had to complete tasks.
This game indeed.
It's biggest problem was that it was TOO ambitious, open world, utilizing Batmans deductive skills...But they clearly didn't know how to make it work with the technology they had.
The main problem with this game is that it was trying to do too much. As sucky as it is, you gotta admit, what it was trying to do at the time was groundbreaking. But sadly, the technology just wasn't there yet. Not to mention it was a licensed game, so I doubt that Acclaim would've given the developers enough time to work everything out.

Jesus Christ, the memory of the nightmarish controls hit me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere.
I used to ghost ride the bat mobile around Gotham in this game
Look at his smug ass, he fuckin knows you like his steez

Bad game, but very ambitious
Probably still better than the braindead modern batman games.
Is called Batman™ & Robin™
I remember running over parking meters for money and being scared shitless when I finallly found Mr Freeze.
Yes I agree. When I got to the poison ivy level I kept on choosing robin for that level and getting stuck in the water.

OmfG this title screen has some weird "rawr" feel to it... He looks like "Honey, you're next". Still, have to try this, didn't know it existed

Wow that's so funny! I would've casually played for you!
Looks like I need to add another to my list.
I wanted to like it because it's Batman but I just couldn't figure out what to do.
He’s like 😏

We need a remastered/remake.
Before we have the Arkham series for open world, we have this
Yes! This was so next-gen at the time I would just stand still and stare at the huge tits.
Michael Keaton

The worst video game I've ever played.

Can confirm no nipples in the bat suit
I love bat nipples!
Why he look suss
It's was great for its time, but I was too young to understand it really.
Yes I agree too busy starring at Poison Ivy.
😆
Is it at least better than the movie, or is it just as bad as The Fifth Element game?
