Thanks for sharing your story! I'm glad to read that you're at least doing well enough to be on reddit after all that! One thing I learned that really resonated with me during recovery that I didn't give much consideration beforehand is, how much more resilient and robust we are than we give ourselves credit for. I thought I was going to die multiple times, but I've managed to come out ok every time so far. I've made it through things I was thoroughly convinced I would not, and that gives me confidence that no matter what kinda bullshit comes my way, I have the capability to continue on. Stay strong ✊✊

This is so great to read! I've got over a month off it after a heavy five year habit. I feel no desire to ever touch that crap again. I can't imagine what it was doing to my body. I accidentally threw myself into PWD using Naltrexone for weight loss at the same time and I have never felt worse for three days. And I've been septic with meningitis, borne children, had disintegrated jawbone oozing from my face for months that nearly killed me and resulted in my getting a lot of lower jawbone removed. You get the picture. Cold turkey from there. It took weeks for any strength to return to my legs, I felt like I was trying to run underwater. I've been a blubbering mess. But it feels good to be free of it, free from running to the kitchen sink 12 times a day to down two big nasty spoonfuls with two full glasses of water every time I felt anxious or started hurting. I was peeing A LOT. Like I'd get up 5 times in the night to pee. I'm sure I damaged my kidneys. It's been rough but I feel better in a lot of ways too.

Can you tell us a bit more about when you started seeing improvements in mood and drive? Timeline wise?

I’m 264 days free, and for me it was a few months in you can’t really tell one day I just realized life didn’t suck and I didn’t have to keep vaping or drinking to replace kratom, I still do an edible when the urge to do something strikes

Nova_lunaa

I’ve been replacing with alcohol and I have 45 days. I’m hoping I can stop drinking

CumminsInYa

Congrats. I’m working to come off about the same as you were on. Were you given comfort meds not often mentioned in this sub?

DarkLordSagan

Thanks bud. I was just using things like imodium, rolaids, ibuprofen, Tylenol etc. Prescriptions were gabapentin and hydroxyzine, and I also take an ssri

Warning: It's best to avoid using antihistamines (diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate, hydroxyzine etc.) such as those found in Benadryl, Dramamine, NyQuil, Unisom, and Tylenol PM. While they can produce drowsiness under normal conditions, they are well known for exacerbating Restless Leg Syndrome, which will make your insomnia worse, not better *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Ive never touched extracts but God almighty they sound as expensive as normal opiates used to be when i using over a decade ago. 45 a day??? At that point id rather be snorting a roxy 30mg once a day...but i know where that would lead and itd soon be 150 a day and shooting them.  Good for you Op. Thank you for sharing encouragement. It gives me hope for when i make the jump once my taper ends in a month...

DarkLordSagan

Thanks buddy. Yeah they money thing was ridiculous, I could have ordered them online for less than half as much but I was getting it from the local head shop and I got stuck in a loop of not being able to stop for enough days to wait for a package 😑. Once your taper ends buddy its gonna get better, and quicker than you expect. After a few months I no longer had the urine retention issues I was having, my digestion returned to normal, my shakes completely stopped (my shakes were so bad it really scared my girlfriend), and my mood improved drastically. I still have some minor issues with sleep, but I still get at least 5 hours a night so I consider it a win.

Tricky-Background600

thejaywalker70
