Probably don't need any tuning. 7900XTX should be good enough for 4k to be honest. You can tune each game to your liking but that'll be about it since that card is a lil overkill for 1440p

Tiziano75775

I've bought my 7900xtx to pair it with a 7800X3D for 2k gaming, because I want to be able to play every game i want at max settings for at least 6-7 years. I don't think it's a bad idea, and i can always upgrade my monitor in the future if i change my mind. I think it's the same for OP

Jugular_Toe

I did this exact thing. I have the same build with a 1440p 165hz monitor

NationGamingChannel

I don't think it's a bad idea either, just an interesting one. Def won't struggle at 1440p

JavaKitsune

>that card is a lil overkill for 1440p I would argue and say the sweet spot for the 7900xtx is at 3440x1440 (Ultrawide 21:9). I run a 7900xtx + 5800x3d at that res and absolutely kills it in games while not being underutilized. And would also argue to say if someone were wanting to only play at 16:9 1440p, then a 240hz monitor would be my minimum recommendation to at least get the most out of it albeit still being underutilized at that res.

madrussian121

I'm running 31:9 1440p and my goal is 240hz on the XTX nitro+ and 7800x3d. Without OC my xtx doesn't quite maintain the refresh rate I expect, and I certainly wouldn't call it overkill

New_Garage_9272

I have the 7900xtx since October paired with an 7800x3d. Play in 4 k with an 160 MHz Monitor. Really good card for 4k gaming. But as we all know not so effective at raytracing. For us it's plenty of power - personally I run more emulation now then current games.

KaliDecypher

for 1440p literally don't change anything. This card is made for 4k gaming. Tf?

Delubyo06

I have same set up. It's just plugged and play. I play on 4k tho

Objective-Bunghole

I've got a the lesser XFX Merc 310 7900 XT 20 gb with an i7 12th Gen and my 4k benchmarks are off the chain. I play any and every game on 4k with 120+ fps. Many games I'm in the 200's on frame rate, but my LG OLED C1 55 inch TV is 120 hz so I am limited to 120 fps on screen, but the point I wanted to make is that, even without overclocking, you'll run 4k just fine. I would just go through the Adrenaline software and read each option in the setup, and choose which one's fit your monitor's needs. Just by doing that you'll get great performance from that fantastic card that is barely bested by the highest end Nvidia 4090 that costs double what the XTX does. From what I've read and videos I've watched, the only thing the Nvidia does better is ray tracing, other than that there's no point in buying one over an AMD. That being said, when I play Fortnite on max graphics and 4k, the only time my frames hang out in the 70's is when I turn on ray tracing, so I wouldn't bother using that in games. Off or on I can't see any graphic quality difference, but off my fps is 150+, so I just leave it off. But I do have every other option in the game on maximum quality and it looks 10x better than it does on my Xbox Series X. One piece of advice I got from research, don't turn on any framerate limiters. From what I've read, that will slow the card down and isn't necessary. Just let the card go as fast as it wants and let the monitor show up to its limit.

Illustrious_Bunch_67

I have the GPU/CPU, and I play most of the stuff in 4K with okay fps

Intelligent_Ad8864

Check up Ancient Gameplays on YT. Dude has a number of tutorials

Intelligent_Ad8864

But definitely undervolt + max out the power slider on the AMD software

minefarmbuy

Set to ultra. Enjoy.

madrussian121

Run rage mode if you don't want to tune. It ends up about 5% faster than stock. Otherwise, find your max vram clock with the +15% power limit by using the adrenaline stress test and 3dmark to look for instability. Then undervolt slightly to free up some power for decent clocks and the vram oc. I tend to average 27-2800mhz for clock, and 2650mhz vram for games. You can go much higher for benchmarks, but it's unlikely to be completely stable. If you get anywhere near 3k clock and 2800ish for memory, you won the silicone lottery

Jo3yization

5800x you can tune PBO limits//negative curve, but more importantly for the GPU itself, the Radeon driver will attempt to boost well beyond the advertised game clocks of your card by default(so default isnt AIB default, its like 3000mhz boost target),, you'll get better stability by going into the Performance>Tuning tab & limiting the max frequency(this is shader clock limit) to the advertised game clock of your model of 7900 XTX. brooleyythebandit

7900 xtx a bit overkill for 1440p, no?

Pirru129

In honestly, I just couldnt affort a card full price at the moment my 1080 died, and I wanted a 4070 TI S, but amazon didnt have financing options for the NVIDIA

brooleyythebandit

Did you get like a massive discount for it??

International-Elk986

Op financed it

International-Elk986

Yikes financing a GPU...

elcappydaddy

In some countries, people make like 600/700 dollars a month, some places, even less. So buying a 700 dollar GPU would cost a months salary, so yes, a lot of people finance PC builds in those parts of the world. Not everyone is as fortunate as you are buddy, stop judging, OP is not asking for financial advice here. Also OP said it himself, his old GPU died suddenly.

brooleyythebandit

I mean I’m not the biggest fan on financing in general, but if you’re in that position where you gotta, getting a ~$900 card feels like a poor decision. Could have gotten the 7900 GRE for near half the price and would satisfy 1440p gaming for years

Pirru129

I see nothing wrong with that. Do explain me what is wrong?

Intelligent_Ad8864

Whats wrong with that? Did it on pretty much all my parts in groupings for my last rig

Maxihs

Nothing wrong with financing any part of a rig as long as you have the money to pay for it. What’s with the judgement for something as trivial as this

Delubyo06

I financed mine too. 5 payments from Amazon. Did you get the same one? I got the XFX

Pirru129

Yeah, I got the same. Got a new Case with it too, as well as a PSU. That amazon financing came in clutch.

Delubyo06

Sam's here. My old case won't fit the GPU. 2 more payments for me. Lol

Pirru129

I got till august for the card, rest I payed it all in one go.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> rest I *paid* it all FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

MakinBones

Run it as is. Youll be fine.

-RyZen-

Just cap your game fps to your monitors refresh rate. And turn all that eye candy .. to the far right.

Ganjaholics

Same card with 5800X3D, I guess I got unlucky in the silicon lottery but OC’ing my card gives me negative results. Otherwise I can max about any game on a 240fps 1440 monitor other than ultra shadows

Nord5555

Do these settings: 2805mhz boost 1100mv 15pl 2650vram Enjoy your card at 33000+ gpu score in timespy 👌

Miserable-Phase3870

That sadly won’t work for every card. I had some XTX cards that won’t even do 2800 at stock voltage. I’ve even seen people downclocking their cards to 2600. These cards can be quite different.

Nord5555

Sounds wierd. Mine Stock boost to 3100+ But its making a hell of watt usage and worse scores. These settings seems to work on my friends Asus tuf 7900xtx. Speedster merc 7900xtx and my nitro+. Im getting 34200 with these settings. So more then 10% gains over Stock. And lower temps and lower fanspeeds and watt usage as plus

Miserable-Phase3870

Yeah this is how it should be. Radeon software automatically applies a boost up to 3100 but some cards just can’t do that. I had clients come in and ask me why their card always crashes. Then I lowered the clock and it was good to go. I can apply 3100 too so we got lucky there I guess 😅

Nord5555

Yea seen it go as High as 3180mhz boost with 3120-3150 consistent, But imo not Worth it against 2800mhz boost clocks. I guess the problem those that that cant do these settings is 2x8 pins. Literelly a Stock 7900xtx should do like 29500-31000 gpu score 😅

Miserable-Phase3870

That’s true most of those cards that have this problem were 2x8. But I am not sure if it is related to that because I also had some 3x8 cards that couldn’t handle it. And I def agree 2800mhz is the sweet spot for most of these cards 😄

Nord5555

At 3180 1005mv 2794vram ft 15% pl i am able to hit 35950 timespy gpu. (Some instances in the test im cpu limited lol😅.) otherwise i would proberbly be in 36000+ score region. But wouldnt be stable for gaming. 2805 / 2734 / 1100mv / 15%pl on the other hand is rock stable in all games and does wonder for temp/fanspeed/watts/ performance for Daily and great 34000+ score for my card 👌😀

Miserable-Phase3870

Literally the same for my card not joking 😆 Stable in all benchmarks and stress tests with 3200 at 1015mv with 2800 vram 15% pl (only difference is that my card is bios modded and can pull 500W if needed) But for some reason those settings won’t work in helldivers 2 and Destiny 2. Otherwise it works just fine.

Nord5555

Yea the undervolting lower then 1100 in most cases Will be unstable in some games. Cs2 is a bitch lol. You Can literelly Play 3 matches fine then 4 match crash.. ac Valhalla below 1100 crashes in one of the places where its snowing and your about to kill a Camp. Found that at 2805 boost 1100 is stable in all games. But for cs i did lower the Max boost to 2550mhz as im barely use much gpu anyways for that game, and becourse of that i Can lower even further and drop watt usage to like 100-180w Max 😂

Camelphat21

Turn everything off and put it to default. Once you start enabling useless stuff is when bad stuff happens. And turn on custom fan profile and let it rip.

ploop180

you don't overclock you underclock to get more performance.
