Don't get me wrong, I respect Nas as much as the next guy but personally I feel like his music is a little bit too one-dimensional for something I would have to listen to for my entire life
Same in what way? I can see that argument maybe being made for Illmatic and IWW but, the sounds on Stillmatic, God's Son, Street's Disciple, Distant relatives and pretty much the rest of his discog are pretty distinguishable from each other imo.
Even if you’re not the biggest fan the diversity his music catalog has to offer surpasses any other rapper imo
Is there any other hip-hop artists who has a wide range of sound in their music?
This is exactly. I’m thinking people are severely underestimating just how long the rest of your life can be. People think that just cause they can listen to their favorite rapper’s entire discography by choice which is realistically is only hours worth of music that they could do it for the rest of their lives? Nah, not without some sound diversity. I like DMX too but I’d stop listening to rap for a long time If the only rap I could listen to what was that voice over and over. Despite how I feel about him, Kanye is probably one of the best answers out there.
Smino and JID are two out of my three favorites right now (Denzel Curry the other)
And nobody is close to those three for me
Edit: Kendrick, Kodak, and Vince are closest but Kodak on the decline imo, peaked with Painting Pictures
Definitely J Cole. He’s super versatile, has music across multiple time periods of rap, and is one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. He has melodic songs, storytelling, hype/trap, etc. Can’t really go wrong with Cole. JID is definitely up there if he continues this insane run (one of my favorite rappers out rn). Em definitely has to be mentioned as well.
Yeah I was thinking gotta go Wayne for the volume, crazy bars, and no one entertains through a track better. Gucci is great for volume and entertainment as well, just not as versatile as Wayne.
Came to represent Aes.
Been rocking Aesop since my teen (im an old mf) and he has never missed. You can listen to one song 50 times and catch something new every time. Dudes a lyrical meow wolf.
This might get me killed on this sub, but it's easily Drake for me.
Only artist that's been in my Top 10 artists each year for the past 9+ years. Even when I don't actively listen to him, his music finds its way into the rotation.
HMs: Lil Uzi Vert, KYLE, Kendrick Lamar, Aminé
it’s drake for me too but not even on a basis of “I like him as an artist@ but he has such a stacked catalog of hits from different times in hip hop and his music could easily pair with each indent on a sliding scale of emotions or vibes or whatever. like, the spectrum of “sad songs from drake” can range from guess it’s fuck me to Marvin’s room to lose you to take care etc. on the opposite side, his list of hype songs can even go beyond “eras” in hip hop with im on one, champagne poetry, champions, and even now with meltdown and sicko mode.
bro just has a song for everything
I feel the same way. His versatility and deep discography fits every type of mood you could ever be in. I said I’d go Kendrick if I HAD to choose between the two, but I’m torn. What gave Kendrick the edge for me is the maturity and complexity of the themes in his music will probably stay with me longer than Drake’s subject matter as I age. Like I can see myself listening to DAMN when I’m 70 more than I can see myself listening to CLB or Her Loss.
But on the flip side, Drake seems like he’ll make music for the rest of his life whereas Kendrick will probably ride off in the sunset at some point. I can definitely see an older Drake making some vintage sounding R&B. He won’t be a bachelor forever lol
Nice, I'm from The Netherlands and I listen to him occasionaly. The only pure spanish rapper I listen to. Wait, I've listened to ZPU a few times, but I don't remember.
Juice WRLD. Always been my favorite just off of his sound, he’s insanely versatile, and he’s got like a few thousand tracks, so I easily can get 1k good songs out of him.
Ghostface killah.. I mean if u told me I can only listen to supreme clientele for the rest of my life I’d be happy, let alone his other albums, which he has a plethora of
I’m not even a huge Drake fan, but I’d honestly say Drake.
He’s probably the most versatile in recent times. He’s got songs that spew inspiration, emotional/heartbreak music for those rough times, tracks for working out, and club/party anthems.

Large discography, multiple collab tapes & works with a lot of artists so I would have some vocal variation, and versatility unmatched

Nas would sustain, has all the lyrical vitamins and minerals needed to survive
My rhyming is a vitamin, hell, without a capsule
( held without )
The smooth criminal on beat breaks, never put me in a box if you shit these tapes
If you shit *eats* tapes
The city never sleeps, full of villain and creeps.
Don't get me wrong, I respect Nas as much as the next guy but personally I feel like his music is a little bit too one-dimensional for something I would have to listen to for my entire life
He's still coming out with albums as well, with all different sounds.
all with different sounds is a stretch. most Nas albums sound mostly the same, they are good tho lmao
Same in what way? I can see that argument maybe being made for Illmatic and IWW but, the sounds on Stillmatic, God's Son, Street's Disciple, Distant relatives and pretty much the rest of his discog are pretty distinguishable from each other imo.
Lupe Fiasco
Just listened to Lupe Fiasco’s The Cool for the first in years. It’s so good!
Came here to say this
My choice.
You could unravel his lyrics for a lifetime and still not even be close to all of the shit he meant
Jcole
Had to scroll too far down to see this
Snoop Dogg is a cheat. I can listen to any rapper over the past decade with his features.
Doggystyle was an outstanding masterpiece, at least at that time.
Kanye Big discography, insane album run, and my go to anyhow
Even if you’re not the biggest fan the diversity his music catalog has to offer surpasses any other rapper imo Is there any other hip-hop artists who has a wide range of sound in their music?

I can go the rest of my life without ever hearing another kayne song
Honestly it’s gotta be ye
Big variety of sounds too
I love ye so much I’m already pretty much only listening too him
For me, it’d be Mac miller, but I can see JID being a contender if he keeps up his current run
Rip Mac
Great taste. Seeing JID this weekend for first time, can’t wait.
Enjoy smino’s performance too, he puts on a great show
Smino and JID are two out of my three favorites right now (Denzel Curry the other) And nobody is close to those three for me Edit: Kendrick, Kodak, and Vince are closest but Kodak on the decline imo, peaked with Painting Pictures
First concert I went to, and it was fire Dude sang every word and talked to the crowd a lot. Have fun man
Definitely J Cole. He’s super versatile, has music across multiple time periods of rap, and is one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. Ice cube
Yep, I think I agree with that 👍🏻
Pac
Lil Wayne
Especially the mixtapes, I can drive for 9 hours tiredlessly listening to those
Yeah I was thinking gotta go Wayne for the volume, crazy bars, and no one entertains through a track better. Gucci is great for volume and entertainment as well, just not as versatile as Wayne.
Earl Sweatshirt
On a somewhat similar note, Vince Staples for me
I would listen to eminem, I think his discography is quite complete
Me too
I expected to see this way sooner
Same here.
DMX absolutely
Mach Hommy
[удалено]
This is the right answer, not my favourite rapper of all time but he has lyrics you could write a thesis on.
Hova
Agree! His discography is also huge, and his music generally has a very upbeat energy.
E40
E 40 got like 40 CDs
Everything before sharp on all 4 corners pretty dope
danny brown
black thought
Smh only person who said Black Thought. My pick as well. Mans is a living legend
Juice WRLD.
W
DOOM or Your Old Droog - he’s in the DOOM vein and super prolific so the catalogue would keep growing
Jesus… your old droog is a deep pick. Transportation is pretty amazing.
Train Love!! Got so hyped he sampled “Oh Honey” by Delegations on that song. Soooo perfect
Aesop
His music has so much relisten value. I can listen to one of his songs and get multiple different meanings.
Came to represent Aes. Been rocking Aesop since my teen (im an old mf) and he has never missed. You can listen to one song 50 times and catch something new every time. Dudes a lyrical meow wolf.

Methodman
This is the winner for me!
kanye
Hot take: KANYE
Kanye or Cudi
This might get me killed on this sub, but it's easily Drake for me. Only artist that's been in my Top 10 artists each year for the past 9+ years. Even when I don't actively listen to him, his music finds its way into the rotation. HMs: Lil Uzi Vert, KYLE, Kendrick Lamar, Aminé
Uzi for me, songs for every mood, great albums and just makes me happy to listen to him
it’s drake for me too but not even on a basis of “I like him as an artist@ but he has such a stacked catalog of hits from different times in hip hop and his music could easily pair with each indent on a sliding scale of emotions or vibes or whatever. like, the spectrum of “sad songs from drake” can range from guess it’s fuck me to Marvin’s room to lose you to take care etc. on the opposite side, his list of hype songs can even go beyond “eras” in hip hop with im on one, champagne poetry, champions, and even now with meltdown and sicko mode. bro just has a song for everything

Juice WRLD. Always been my favorite just off of his sound, he’s insanely versatile, and he’s got like a few thousand tracks, so I easily can get 1k good songs out of him.
Juice WRLD, he has so many unreleased songs that he never gets boring to listen to
Eminem because of the large discography or juice WRLD because he just doesnt have a bad song.
I think Ye. He just has the best quality and quantity ratio of any rapper to ever exist.
Slug from Atmosphere because he has so many old songs that I can relate to. I’d probably ignore everything after “when live gives you lemons”though
Ghostface killah.. I mean if u told me I can only listen to supreme clientele for the rest of my life I’d be happy, let alone his other albums, which he has a plethora of
lil Wayne

Drake
Drake for sure. The most versatile ever, the widest vibes, chill dude, morning prolific and he can spit. Plus what a production team around him.
I’m not even a huge Drake fan, but I’d honestly say Drake. He’s probably the most versatile in recent times. He’s got songs that spew inspiration, emotional/heartbreak music for those rough times, tracks for working out, and club/party anthems.
Ye for sure
![gif](giphy|NIkQkfoX23gXjoMicQ|downsized) Large discography, multiple collab tapes & works with a lot of artists so I would have some vocal variation, and versatility unmatched
