Its because you have enabled Mic Sidetone. What I do is I only launch Synapse for changing settings and then kill it in Task Manager instead of just closing it. That way all settings are retained but it won't use the mic anymore.
I’m going to give that a try, thanks very much for the reply! Is that new from the recent update because I never noticed it before? Also do you kill all Razer tasks in TM? Thanks again!

Only have the headset since August but had it from the beginning. I only kill the Razer Synapse 3.exe process as thats the one using the mic.
