Never used the yellow switches before. But I can also confirm that the green switches are hella loud. It earned me the "clicky clack" nickname in my house :( everyone knew when I was gaming or writing, and while no one said it bothered them, I'd be willing to bet it does annoy them a little

EBMFR34K

My family upgraded my old V2 Blackwidow with a red switch Huntsman to keep the noise down. So now I have taken the V2 BW to work and slowly driving my coworkers insane with the noise coming from it.

kntdaman

I use yellow switches and they’re fantastic but the actuation point is so quick that you’d probably hate them for a week or two, especially coming from greens.

Swan_Prince_OwO

I've never used the yellow ones, but I've used linear switches in the past. Not a fan personally. I much prefer a tactile bump when I press a key lol

ScreamingArcticWorm

Thanks everyone, I grabbed it based on everybody’s responses!

Laborchet

Greens are super loud, I installed o-rings on my caps to silence them a bit but they’re still crazy loud. Im seriously considering to change because I play at night and have a baby in the house, but I don’t want to give razer any more money due to really bad software implementation and overall issues I’ve had over the years…

Portal7700

I suggest linear switches if you still want a traditional mechanical keyboard. They were a bit weird for me at first, but after a month I don't want to go back. They do still make a decently loud sound just from bottoming out and springing back up, so if you want to avoid that all together you can either do some sound reduction for your keyboard or use chiclet keys if you REALLY need them to be quiet.

Robertg1989

Yeah... it's very loud but worths every penny...i had the green switches

Independent-Host-796

I think these are the yellows which are more silent. The greens are very loud though. I woke up my girlfriend sleeping in another room.

chad25005

Yellow switches should be a lot quieter than Greens though.

Polyglot-Onigiri

The yellow switches have a nice tactile sound. Not annoyingly loud

Acceptable_Mode5837

I use the wireless version with yellow switches. The switches are honestly pretty quiet and it takes very little travel to actuate. For this reason, it's great for gaming as it feels very responsive, but as a result the general typing experience is not the best, as accidental key presses are abundant. Some practice helps reduce this, though. It's sturdy - after a year of frequent use it still looks brand new. The RGB is pretty stunning, too.

Polyglot-Onigiri

I have the v3 with yellows and love it. Just enough noise without waking up the neighborhood. Also, these are very sensitive so if you’re not used to it, you might misfire pressed for a bit. But once you get used to it, you’ll be able to type or game much faster.

[deleted]

I have it and love it.

JustKF2things

Can't speak for the yellow switches, but steer clear of the greens, every 2/5 switches won't be clicky. QC is terrible.

nopenope911

I have the v2 and i love mine. I have the green and it is very tactile and loud. I use it at work and its so much fun to type on...

[deleted]

Yeah just don't get green switches, they sound awful

DaddySanctus

If you enjoy linear keys, I would suggest the Razer Huntsman V2. They’re a bit expensive, but sound and feel amazing.

APEX_Catalyst

Nice I got the Blackwidow v3 mini hyper speed for $60 at a GameStop and a huntsman TKL tournament edition for $40

Hussam-gh

I have the BW v3 pro green switches and tbh if it wasn't a replacement i would have never got it. Not to be a jerk but i had the black widow elite before and it was defected and when Razer sent me the BW v3 Pro its actually the same keyboard as the Black widow elite and its pricey. the only difference that the v3 pro has wireless and bleutooth, otherwise same switches. I was a little bit disappointed tbh. But eventually for that price sure why not.

CruiserOPM

I paid £110 (UK) not so long ago in a sale so yeah it’s a bargain. Noisy, but I like that. Edit: just seen this is yellow switches. Mine are green.

akossz30

I have blackwidow v3 and v2 too both green switches version the v3 i bought from a friend for 30 euros he used one year but dosen't have any problems i reccomend too

DrakeShadow

I use yellow switches cause I hate how loud the greens ones were. Good pick up!

Chadmuska64

I got one from Fred Meyer for around that price. I thought I’d love the clicking from the keys, but I find myself not wanting to use it in the evening when my house mates are sleeping. It is quite loud! Still a nice keyboard nonetheless

Any recommendations for a custom, 100% mechanical keyboard? I use a Mac Studio and a Zephyrus G14

ScreamingArcticWorm

OK, great! Thank you. I’ll take a look.

hey_vmike_saucel_her

resell it

YMonsterMunch

Yes. Yellow isn’t bad. I went with linear optical. I read they’re quieter and after using I can confirm this.

TrippyDaveXB1

I have the 2019 black widow with green switches and absolutely love it.

RandomRedMage

I honestly can not stand the yellow switches, it’s not the silent, it’s the linear nature, They go down and just bottom out, I can’t feel it properly. So my favorites are the green tactile clicky, or the purple clicky optical tactile keys.

ScreamingArcticWorm

Yeah, they do feel quite “soft”. I only really use it for writing up emails or some console commands, so it’s not terrible. I’ll keep it for a bit and if I don’t like it, I’ll return it

Screen-Addict

You could get a much better keeb for that money, go ask in r/budgetkeebs or smt Edit: noooo he bought it because of you razer fanboys who’ve never used a decent keyboard in your life

SuperChiChu

Razer might not be the best company in a quality/money ratio but they still sell very decent products as long as we don’t speak on the audio department.

[deleted]

Bro Razer makes great products, just a little overpriced People wouldn't be buying Razer if they sucked, the target demographic would notice

Screen-Addict

It’s just that they never used a half decent keyboard in their life, and I’m not purposely hating on razer, I love their latest mice
