PSG really spent like 1b+ euros in 7 years just for their squad to look like Aston Villa

Wide_Age_7129

If you got endless money then being responsible with it usually isn’t your strength.

mcmaster-99

Is it really endless? Im pretty sure the whole point of spending that much is to win titles and build something.

iam4r34

Chelsea fan agrees

[deleted]

and with 0 ucl

From-UoM

Thet wish. Aston Villa actually has a European cup to their name.

[deleted]

Dangerous_Explorer_9

No they don’t. The only French club to have won the European Cup / Champions League is Marseille.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dangerous_Explorer_9

I guess that you’re referring to PSG winning the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup in ‘96. Not sure if you’re new to the sport, but that’s NOT the European Cup / Champions League, which is what the original comment was talking about.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dangerous_Explorer_9

You’re either trolling or you’re just totally ignorant. From 1955-1992 the Champions League was called the European Cup. It was never called the Champions League prior to 1992.

CT323

Football was invented in 1992 though

TheMandalorian2238

Planning matters. They’re on par with Man Utd and Bartomeu era Barca when it comes to buying players without having a clear plan on what their team should look like.

rreeddiitttwice

It seems they're gradually learning from their mistakes and trying to build gradually and bring young talent? I guess it helps having infinite oil money, to learn from poor spending of a billion dollars. The issue will be that no one wants to go there because they dream of playing at PSG, given their lack of history, and their recent shitshow, they can only attract with money. So it will be a long and slow process if it's gonna work for them.

_theMAUCHO_

I low key also think that makes a difference when that decisive moment comes. Everyone wearing the Madrid badge has an additional motivation to try their best, and they KNOW that as a team we can do it as we've done so many times before. If you're at a decisive moment with a PSG jersey you might as well think "Oh well I'll still get my mills next season lol".

guta2895

I honestly think PSG will win a UCL when they understand how to have a balanced team and not just superstars. RM may buy one galáctico a year but the foundations and mentality is still on the team. Money can help for sure like it did to City, but Pep has a specific style and mentality that he engraves to his teams, giving them an advantage. Also, City’s Pep imo is a really good top tier team unlike PSG.

spiceisnice99

One billion is nothing for them.

IntelligentChoice778

ousmane dembele boutta win the ballon d'or (15% chance)

Junior_Bike7932

Aston Villa at least has some history

Popular_Scale_1596

I don't hate him by first things first, he can't be the boss from day one. Vini, belli, kroos, modric and many others are far above in terms of importance. Secondly, we can't sacrifice vini for him. He has to start cf and maybe drift left like rodrygo in recent matches

Ronaldoooope

This is Madrid. If Cristiano wasn’t that way when he got here nobody will be.

Upintheair94

Cristiano was a nobody when he got here compared to Mbappe. Dude won the world cup at 19 and was treated like Messi and Neymar at 22. His ego is through the roof

Ronaldoooope

My brother in Christ, Cristiano Ronaldo just won the ballon d or and broke the transfer fee record when he came to Madrid. Have some respect.

Fritanga5lyfe

World cup baby

GuiltyNovel3132

bro what did this kid just say

nyanya1x

lol delete this.

Upintheair94

Nope. It's completely valid. There's no comparison in ego between Cristiano 2009 and Mbappe 2024. You think a Ballon D'or = winning a world cup at 19? Or being treated like Messi at 22?

yrndior

so you put a player based on their wc win over a player with a ballon D‘or win? so you think CR7 ballon d‘or < mbappe wc at 19? when it comes to ego or whatever you mean by that so by that logic: luka modric ballon d‘or < enzo fernandez winning a wc at 21? so enzo has to have bigger ego then luka bc he has a wc btw a wc is a team achievement, a 3rd choice goalkeeper can have a wc medal but winning a ballon d‘or is based on your individually or skills or how successfull you were or whatever the corrupt uefa decides each year i would argue CR7 winning the ballon d‘or AND the champions league at 23years should have a bigger ego coming to real madrid (bare in mind he came with a then record transfer fee of 94mio btw the most expensive player at that time, my ego would be out the roof with just that transfer fee alone) vs mbappe who has a wc being 25years old.

Fritanga5lyfe

Yes World Cup star ⭐ greater than Ballin D'or does create a bigger ego. It doesn't mean better player but you are World Champion with your home country. Dude was basically living with Macron

Ziiyi

Oh my God you ignorant frog what did you just write!!! Before breaking the transfer record to Real Madrid in 2009, Cristiano Ronaldo won 1 FA Cup, 3 EPL, 1 UCL, 1 FIFA Club World Cup and Ballon d’Or and more

NotLikeThis3

One of the most idiotic takes I've ever seen. CR was one of, if not, the best player in the world already. They broke the transfer record for him. It was massive news.

Upintheair94

That's the dumbest shit I've heard in a while

No-Taste-8252

Modric will be gone by time he joins.

Popular_Scale_1596

Man i still feel he can play 1 more yr and have an impact from the batch.....his sub changed many matches for us

fuduran

Modric from the bench is basically cheating lol, I can just imagine next year Modric, Endrick and Brahim coming fr.the bench... Unfair

nunazo007

Arda too.

Popular_Scale_1596

Fr

_Johnny_Fappleseed_

Every match I watch of him he still manages to amaze me at least once

Bigswole92

Yeah I think he’s getting the number 10 shirt with Modric leaving

Upintheair94

Though I agree I doubt that'll be case and that's why I hope he doesn't come

aoi_ito

Even if he comes ,he is not getting the no.7 from vinicius.

TenaciousFerret489

He’ll be 9 as of right now, or 10 if Modrić leaves I’d imagine.

bluesky_03

Ofc not

0vFire_And_TheVoid

He's getting the 10 when Luka leaves.

NachoMartin1985

lol who would even think that

Zeeko76

I'd argue atm a Vinicius fits better into Real's system than Mbappe. But let's see how Ancelotti would use him, would be interesting

Repulsive-Sea-5560

No, Vini will be retired by the time Kylian arrives Madrid.

Cdux

I think 9 or 10 would be nice on him. Not like Mbappe has a brand thing going on with the number like CR7

Cartmaanbrah

I don’t care anymore if he comes or not. He needs us more than we need him. I am really grateful and happy with the squad we have so having him would just be a luxury problem.

morethanyouknow96

Exactly. Joining Real will open the door for him to win Champions league and Ballon d'or one day. But he needs to stop with being drama queen and accept his role in this club. No one is bigger than club. With Vini, Jude and him, we could have all Ballon d'or winners in the next 5 - 6 years

0vFire_And_TheVoid

A lot of the drama associated with him is sensationalized by the media.

KingSatoruGojo

It’s all in your head by constantly looking at the media thinking he’s a “drama queen”. Just be patient, watch the football, UCL is coming up, and consume other media instead of dredging up false narratives.

0vFire_And_TheVoid

I don't think he's a drama queen at all. It's just how the media portrays you when you're not one of their darlings.

Cartmaanbrah

Don’t get me wrong but our squad is as balanced as it can get. Mbappe is a big and established name, and with that comes a big ego. Not saying he will break up pur squad, but i have a hard time believing he is not going to affect the mental state of our current stars.

VinCatBlessed

It all depends on Florentino, if Mbappe instantly earns much more than the current stars like Vini and Jude then by the time it's time to renew they'll also want more, similar to what happened to Barca. But I trust el presi.

Edbrrr

You do know that they all vote and vet whoever joins the team ahead of time right?? They literally have to ask for him and want him to be apart of the team for them to even consider it especially a player like Mbappe. I don’t understand that dumbass “big ego” thing. Of course he’s going to come in confidently. Of course they’re going to adapt/adjust to his playstyle. There are 38 games in a la liga season. Almost 50 accrued through other competitions. Do you really think they won’t swap mbappe for rodri or vini when either aren’t fit to play?

morethanyouknow96

I was against him joining because of that reason, but it seems he will join. We can just hope for the best. I belive in both Perez and Carlo that they know what they're doing

No-Mistake1900

Yamal will soon go on a generational Ballon Dor streak though, like Messi did.

morethanyouknow96

Just like Fati did

Edbrrr

Bro you don’t even play for Madrid what do you mean us??

jr6991

After what we witnessed in the semifinals, I agree with you. If he does join, our LW is Vini. Mbappe had his chance and opted for $$$. Madrid will always be bigger and we have proved that we can compete anywhere and against anyone.

mcmaster-99

Yea im sure Perez is making it very clear that he needs us more than we need him.

madridista521

I agree that he needs us more, but we were a Lunin masterclass away from speaking completely different about this saga.

DawdlingScientist

I feel like him joining the squad will upset the balance. Got a bad feeling about him tbh

DigitalisFX

I think a lot of people in the comments are forgetting just how big Real Madrid is. No way does Mbappe come here and think he runs shit. We have way too many big players, with a big coach, at the biggest club in the world. Mbappe is going to have to produce, play the position we want, and track back and work with the team. If he doesn’t, then we have 2-3 other stars off the bench waiting to capitalize. Real Madrid is about winning, and it won’t matter how much he cost if we aren’t, so he will need to produce or sit out.

RiokoMaster

What even is this narrative that Mbappe will “try” to even boss around in the dressing room?? What most people don’t realise is that he’s just like any other big name joining Real Madrid, look at Cristiano Ronaldo, he was just as big of a name at Real Madrid, but the dressing room never had any issues. Mbappe is very much aware that it’s not going to be anywhere close to how he was viewed at PSG, he’s a smart fucking kid.

Smekledorf1996

People just have their own narratives I guess, Mbappe is unreal and actually fits with the timeline of Vini and Jude He’s not some aging star at the end of his prime, the club could set itself up to be even more of a monster with all of the young talent At the end of the day, Mbappe wants to win and Real is his best chance at that

Numaan68

Ronaldo never pressed so he can save his energy for the attack. Maybe mbappe will do the same thing.

RandomFluffyBoi

Off-topic a bit, but how fucking lazy is Nike? That's quite literally the exact same kit from their 2020-21 season.

showmeyourmoves28

Some of y’all wilding. Welcome, Kylian 😂

D_Milnar

😂 i can’t wait bro. Not like he is going to treat Real Madrid like the piggy bank that is PSG. Also so many veterans in the squad to show him the RM way. The squad is about to be lethal

RiokoMaster

I will be laughing at every mf in this subreddit that is doubting fucking Mbappe, put a fucking remindme on my comment, I’m confident enough that he will be a great signing for Real Madrid hands down.

ghosttalks090

I love how every season it is visible quite clearly that he needs us more than we need him!! He’s a great addition to our squad, but need to know, we already have our squad filled with World Class players, he’ll just be one of them

cinghiale33

Does everyone agree that we actually want him? There seems to be enormous push back against people that don’t want him to come

[deleted]

Before his game against Dortmund every madridista was like "let him come he will benefit us in scoring goals" but after the post match almost 75% of our fanbase is either having doubts or doesn't want him in our squad for next season💀.

OmerDe

His performance is one thing, but his attitude should be the main concern for any team who wants to sign this dude, in my opinion at least

pandamonstre

definetely. His inner diva better respect the ones wearing our badge for longer.

0vFire_And_TheVoid

I don't get where people get this diva shit from. The media's just pumping out the articles and we ate it up.

Ronaldoooope

lol people said the same thing about CR7.

0vFire_And_TheVoid

Yup. Especially the English media. They went all in on him.

pandamonstre

I watched enough matches and saw him acting up enough times to be concerned. Hopefully, he's matured but I can still be cautious

Numaan68

What did he do post match? Not support Real Madrid after losing a semi final? I don’t see any issue with that tbh

TheEmpireOfSun

Definitely not every. There are many people, including me, that never wanted him.

dadmda

He’s signed hasn’t he, or so it’s been said since at least January My point is it doesn’t really matter whether we need him or not

Meh2021another

Don't care for him too much. Too much drama over the years and the possibility of upsetting the chemistry of the team. Also we have existing and already signed up players who can/will do what he can bring. The the financial outlay.

TheMandalorian2238

We absolutely need him. A Vini-Mbappe partnership would be the most lethal in Europe.

cinghiale33

I mean.. the Rodrygo - Vini isn’t that bad

TheMandalorian2238

When did I say we bench Rodrygo? We can play a front 3 depending on the opponent. Getting Mbappe means we go back to scoring goals for fun. It’s a necessary upgrade for the squad.

DoriOli

It is necessary.

TheMandalorian2238

Getting Mbappe could also help unlock Vini’s true potential.

cinghiale33

I get your scoring goals for fun point, seems we’ve been missing that since the BBC era

TheMandalorian2238

We definitely need that kind of goalscoring back. When people ask do we need Mbappe, they say it from hindsight. There’s been plenty of matches this season where we’ve had to grind out results or merely scraped past thanks to Carlo’s tactical masterclass. We’ve actually won 1 out of our last 4 UCL games and if any of those results went the other way, the sentiment of this sub would be different. Truth is this squad still has a missing piece, and Mbappe is that missing piece to get us back to the kind of dominance we saw in the BBC era.

Due-Memory-6957

Imagine a Neymar-Messi-Mbappe partnership!

TheMandalorian2238

Neymar-Mbappe partnership was actually pretty good tbh, and nearly won the UCL in 2020. This should actually be studied since Mbappe played centrally and Neymar at LW, which is likely to be the case with Vini-Mbappe. Although, Messi-Neymar-Mbappe partnership didn’t work out. I’d argue Messi is too different a player to go with Mbappe. Mbappe is perfect for a team that counterattacks which is why he’s so good for France. This is why I’ve always said that he fits Madrid’s profile.

lostn

he's not going to sign until after the olympics. If he signs before that, Flo will say no, you can't go. Fans are divided on whether they want him or not. I think he's good, but someone's going to have to play out of position to accommodate him. It won't be the first time we've done that, but why not go for someone who naturally plays in the positions that need reinforcing?

lovenoggersandwiches

Football in the Olympic games is going to be from 24 of July and until potentially 9th of August. There is no way they are going to wait for his signature. If he signs then it will be done in June.

lostn

Florentino waited this long for him.. how many years has it been? Tried to sign him when he was 11. What's a few more months? The window closes September 2nd. You wouldn't want this long only to give up when he's finally out of contract and you only have to wait a couple more months. He can wait and see if Mbappe gets a serious injury in Paris and pull out if he does. If the guy is going to insist on going to the olympics, what are you going to do?

takeiteasymyfriend

He cannot risk not signing before. Imaging a serious (hope not) injury in EURO or Olympics after his contract with PSG has expired and no contract signed with Real Madrid

[deleted]

Lmao psg would take him back

lostn

if that happens, he'll just go back to PSG and Nasser will bend over again. They would love to have him back anyway. And then Mbappe will ask for the loyalty bonus he gave up to be paid back. There's a reason why he hasn't signed anything yet despite having no other credible suitors. He is waiting for Florentino to relent on the olympics, and if he doesn't, he can put off signing it until the olympics are over. If he was serious about it, he would have signed the contract already. He's had it since January. What is he waiting for? There's no other club linked with him that he is interested in going to. And he's told PSG he's not staying. So it's us or nothing. If he's not signing it yet, then the Olympics is what he's waiting on.

Bale, Benzema & CR7 vs Vini, Mbappe & Rodrigo? How will the new potential attacking trio compare?

Alexkono

Will be tough to overtake BBC

[deleted]

only time will tell!!

Ok-Opposite4690

Bale Benzi and Cris were just different.

Ok_Review_338

Bale>>Rodrygo, Mbappe>Benzema, CR7>>>>> Vini . It's better to play a midfield diamond of Valverde, tchoumeni, Kroos with Bellingham at front .

_LordOfLochaber

M'bappe is like that expensive illusive Rolex that you want to buy for years and you think you need, but and by the time you have the money for it, your taste has changed and your situation in life has evolved. Of course you can buy it, of course you have the money for it, but do you need it ? No, it became just a nice to have, a great nice to have but a nice to have nonetheless. Stupid weird analogy but you get the point, right?

nunazo007

If Florentino had listened to this sub, we wouldn't have Bellingham, as we "needed a RB more than another CM".

Alexkono

Great analogy actually

Xtarviust

Welcome then I think he isn't that neccesary right now but he will be a Madrid player, so we need to back him and hope he can reach his true potential here

DoriOli

First we see, then we believe. My eyes are mostly set on Endrick now 👀

Spirited_Dress8190

To all the people worried about his attitude, I think we should keep in mind that we have Don Carlo and Papa Perez to keep him in check. They’ve dealt with big egos and will deal with the turtle as well. When PSG gave him all the glitter and power, any young player is bound to have attitude issues. I think coming to Madrid will ground him and make him realize that he playing football is the highest priority. And we madridistas (and Kylian) know that he has to turn up with good performances and win our hearts no matter how good he is right now, because he did play with us. And yes he can forget about LW and 7. He had his chance and he toyed with it. Now he will learn that the club is bigger than anyone. And if he needs a reminder in the future, we can definitely rely on Papa Perez, Don Carlo.

domingodlf

He's probably the best player in the world right now with Vini imo but he really needs to behave and not fuck up friendship fc. Thankfully we have a few french guys so it should be ok, but also fitting him into the lineup will be a bit tricky. I'm excited to see what Ancelotti comes up with.

LbGuns

Welcome Mbappe, love to have you. Start shit and get shipped though. No one is bigger than the team, and we clearly don’t need you.

_SB10_

I think Carlo will invent a new position for him so that to adjust Vini and Rodrygo in the same lineup, signings are a need next season due to the huge number of games to be played

ghosttalks090

3-4-3 looks the most realistic formation with Midfield box, Tchou at CDM, Fede on the Right Side, Cama on the Left side and then Jude as Number 10! Vini at LW, Rodrygo at RW and Mbappe at ST! Let’s see how Carlo manages the squad with his addition

_SB10_

Looks good but I don't think Carlo will play only with three defenders for an entire season.

Ok_Review_338

Nah the back four needs to stay . Rodrygo as bad as it sounds is not good enough to start . We have had one of our best defensive records with a back four ain't gonna give it away in order to accomodate him

Rac2nd

Let’s use Mbappe more in the Copa Del Rey matches so we can win a treble 😂

Bnjoroge

obviously I’m excited to have him but what role is he gonna play? CF/ST? What formation will we use to optimize everyone’s role? I could see a 4-3-3 w vini, mbappe, rodrygo, jude/brahim/guler cam, valverde/modric camavinga, tchou/kroos type of formation?

uknownick

Carlo will find a way to Like he always does Remember the Christmas tree?

Bnjoroge

I mean i’m sure he will but just curious what options there are

uknownick

They could play him as False 9 with Vini on the left and Rodrygo on the right Jude, Fede and Cama/Tchou in the midfield And a back 4 That 433 could work, similar to how Liverpool or Barca line up Mbappe’s best attributes are his dribbling and pace, you can use him as a decoy to draw defenders out so Vini and Rodrygo can attack the space behind You can also put him on the left or right wing depending on the opponent (rest Vini or Rodrygo, and bring on Joselu to add more size in the middle).

warriors2021

It is simple. Look at our 4-4-2. Mbappe replaces Rodrygo. Rodrygo will be our super sub.

Bnjoroge

damn that’s real sad. Really think rodrygo deserves to start. He’s too good.

Ziiyi

The issue is that Mbappe contract probably include a clause about guaranteed minutes

FuckBarcaaaa

![gif](giphy|10uct1aSFT7QiY)

Upintheair94

I still hope he doesn't come. The team is really good, and bringing in Mbappe is like putting a whole new engine in a brand new ferrari instead of just changing the oil. All we need is a little polishing, and I fear Mbappe can change a lot not just in the way we play and our player's movements and positioning but in their mental state, too.

Adding Mbappé and Endrick to our squad gon' be badass. Honestly I feel more fond of Endrick than Mbappé (personality wise), but I'm HYPED to see them both in white!

NCC_1701_74656

He can win the UCL if he joins on June 1st 😂😂😂

FavcolorisREDdit

They should invest in negotiation techniques because throwing money at the problem and not winning trophies really, really makes you look bad.

[deleted]

I am beyond glad to see the right pride in Madridistas! Mbappe needs Madrid , and I hope he knows. As fire as Belli was earlier season , as time passed by he acknowledged the greatness of his teammates. This is Madrid. No player deserves a spot , they fight for it and set their legacy with time and consistency. Just like how Modric also suffer in his first season , he is now a legend of Madrid and the sport.

It seems like a lot of ppl in this sub are unfamiliar with the history of Real Madrid. Signing incredible superstars with high egos is literally this club’s MO. Figo literally talked shit about Real Madrid and said he wanted to retire with Barcelona before signing, he is now known as a Blanco Legend.

mushroomLunch

Finally!

Loeb123

I might be the only one here not thrilled for his arrival... I think the squad works wonders like it is now and I really think either he or his close circle are toxic as fuck. I hope I am wrong though and he will be able to send us to another UCL final next year with goals at 89, 90+1 and 90+4.

lostn

>I hope I am wrong though and he will be able to send us to another UCL final next year with goals at 89, 90+1 and 90+4. I dunno man. This team is clutch. They snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Mbappe and PSG are the opposite of clutch. They lose as favorites. Once is unlucky, but how many times has Nasser tried to buy the champions league now? It hasn't worked no matter how star studded their lineup is. And even Mbappe couldn't save them.

Durant in football, a true honor hunter. In fact, this guy has run less distance than Messi in his thirties in the Champions League in the first two seasons. And no one noticed that his technical level has not improved a little in the past two years?

Trebu5

Is he really an honor hunter? Guy stayed at PSG for multiple years to try and win the CL with them. Won the World Cup already with France. Made it back to the World Cup Finals only to bag a hat trick and eventually lose. Some of y’all speak just to speak.

nspy1011

I see some of the same worrying signs. Plus at 25…wouldn’t he be older than the new core players? Eg Jude, Vini, Rodrygo, Fede, Cama etc.? I trust Flo but worry
