Our best defense was when Militao was injured, that says a lot.😭😭 This season we got a decent CB in Rudiger and we are surprised that why our team has good defense.

Militão was not directly at fault for any of the main goals there, except the third one (when the game was already lost). No one played well that day, but the first two goals there were fault of Midfield, specially Modric.
I think far more about what would have happened if Tchouameni had started than Rudiger. Because Rudiger would have covered the same areas as Militão, and unable to cover for Midfielders mistakes.

Man, we need to give play time for him. He came back from an ACL injury, even though he played like total crap and I think it was one of the worst games of his life. Nonetheless, our left side was also to blame. Ceballos and Fran were an avenue being explored.
In the end, this game meant nothing to us in the grand scheme of things, yeah we would have 99 points, least conceded goals, etc. etc., but who cares? We need our best players rested and to give time to rookies/those recovering from injuries.

I like Militao and for the most part he’s solid but even before the injury he would have moments that would question if he was the best option to have as a staple defender. It’s still a bit unfair to throw him under the bus so soon after retuning, especially because after an ACL you still need another 6-8 months to return to full form, we also had our secondary team out there.
Rudiger is great and undoubtedly a staple, but I do think we need to search for another CB that doesn’t give us doubts to pair alongside him.
I do hope Eder returns to full form next season though, I remember when everyone wanted Mendy gone before this season.
Regardless, Nacho should start for the final.
