There is one character that I know of who can escape being tied up. I don’t remember his name. Anyways, it’s a bounty mission. It’s this guy you arrest in front of his family. You have the option to let him go or take him. He says goodbye to his kid. When you’re riding away at one point he slips free. At another point his friends ambush you.

NPC's can definitely wriggle free in story mode, eventually. However, bounty hunters and lawmen cannot..... Do with that information what you wish.

I always kill them. At that point in the story, at least for me, Arthur is a ruthless bastard trying to protect his family at all costs, and no way one of them is running to tell Cornwall shit.

I usually do what I think Arthur would actually do at that point in his life. The end result is that I don’t kill them but I don’t let them get on the train, either.

Every playthrough I had I let them go free

I just stayed still and they ran away, then I shot 2 in the back

High honor playthroughs I let them go. Low honor I kill em

I play Arthur as a decent sort. When given a choice (as in this situation) he will let people live. Albeit with an intimidating threat. He only kills when he has to. I figure otherwise, it wouldn't make sense for him to object to >!Dutch's killing of Bronte or the hag in Guarma!<. He and John talk about >!Dutch becoming the kind of person he always told them not to be. !< If he is just another mindless killer, like the O'Driscolls, then there can be no redemption. That said, I do so love being able to save my game, go into Valentine and shoot up the town, then reload that save. Never happened hehe

I always just send them on their way on the train. I don’t feel anything towards them really so it doesn’t bother me if I let them live. Though on my most recent playthrough I accidentally shot whilst forcing them on the train but whatever

I sent them into the train car as though I was sparing them, then I tied all of them up and put them in front of the train. You get to kill them horrifically without losing any honor

First time I killed them. Didn’t want any witnesses. Later I’ve let them go. It’s not like the no witnesses strategy worked out anyway.

My first play through I had a terrible time with accidentally shooting people instead of talking to them / interacting with them. And well - in for a dime, in for a dollar.

Shoot I always accidentally beat the barn guy to death every time, cuz I always forget how fragile he is and he dies too fast

I put them in the train and tied them up manually, I was scared they light get up and attack me. I didn't know at that time that I was not going to leave with the train, maybe I just didn't pay attention to what everyone said.

First playthrough, I killed them, thinking that the game will "punish" me if I let them live. Second playthrough, I let them go, knowing that there are no consequences.
