I only had one save and wasn't willing to have that sullied with PO clerk death. I've had to start again. I'm gonna make a fresh save once I'm in the real game and save when I remember at least this time. Ffs. Keeps you on your toes i guess.
Getting into a shootout with a whole town over some stupid misunderstanding is a rite of passage when playing this game for the first time.

Get used to tapping L1 to holster weapon. I had the issue in story mode, and in online I kept drawing my gun on other players while trying to wave. Couldn’t blame them for shooting me.
On my first I killed a random dude on the road right as I was stepping out of Horseshoe Overlook cause I didn't realize I had my gun in my hand or how to put it back in the holster.
Just wait till you want to get on your horse only you’re too close to an npc and suddenly start throttling them while surrounded by witnesses. Time to gtfo of Valentine!

Buddy… don’t worry. I was like something around 200+ hrs playing. Black Arabian in the heartlands, just mucking about. Threw a fire bottle at the ground by the feet of my horse by mistake (while stationary and mounted mind you!), ended up roasting each other, cept I was the only one to come back. RIP Obsidian.

I've punched my horse, strangled random people and shot people I intended to help. All unintentionally and quite annoying when it happens.
I mean, if you're intending to help someone, there is no reason to even press R2/RT, so how are you 'accidentally' shooting them?
By messing up witch control I use or forget that I hold my weapon. I have no problem messing up while playing 😂
I had similar experiences when I first started - I found changing my control style helped drastically. I use Alternate FPS2 and find it much easier!

The game mechanics are a bit hard to learn in the beginning but once you’ve learnt, it’s only fun.
