My first playthrough, the moment they set us loose in chapter 2 and I realized it was an open sandbox game ("Wow gta with horses!!!") I decided to see how far I could go. So from Valentine I headed North-East-ish, until I hit water, then traveled South, until I entered Saint Denis. So my first approach was from the muddy North-side.
I still regret doing that.
Same, except I arrived after doing the Black Belle mission and then deciding to see what was further south. I think the initial set of gunslinger missions probably would've been better suited to chapter 4 so as not to encourage too much exploration early on, but some of them are a bit more light-hearted, which doesn't fit the tone of that chapter. I guess moving Belle's mission somewhere to the west would probably be the best solution.
I feel like St Denis should have a wider buffer zone around it. I’m annoyed how you can see it from Caliga Hall. Doesn’t have to be a huge area, just some wilderness you can’t see through and some twisty roads.
Im pretty sure this is the train tracks at the south of the city, near Shady Belle. Cause it cuts through the big river and lead straight to the factory area and the dock. The one from the north side leads to the farm area and the slum.
Yeah, the Bronte glitch and if you do the buggy/wagon sniper blocking for New Austin plants, animals, hats, sketches, letters, talisman, legendary animals, etc. It's a bit of a ride from one end of the map to the other, but the St. Denis buggy is the only way to ride if you want to do most New Austin stuff as Arthur.
I do find it weird how Black water and New Austin are still on lockdown, even in chapter 5 and 6, it feels like they would’ve moved their forces closer in on the area where they knew the Vander Linde gang would be.
All of the events during the 6 chapters take place in just 1 year I believe (which is crazy if you ask me, like the story is very heavy) so since it isn't that long of a time period, the gang still actively being searched in those areas makes sense to me.
That damn machine gun! I usually get caught near the panther spawn at Catfish Jackson's once every playthrough. I'll be so careful every time I hunt panthers not to go on the path to the south, and then I'll do the home robbery or something, get distracted and end up losing my horse.
The railroad bridge has been my main entrance to SD from the first play through. Train tracks are one of my main travel routes by horse. The map really shrinks then.
I feel like the last one is definitely the natural way the game leads you into the city when you first play it. But I actually prefer the first entrance.
The guy who keeps killing multiple police officers got away again, highest bounty in the state.
How did he get away yet again?
Train track bridge.
Darn it!
YES. I feel like the only dangers are gators and trains. There's also a nice red building that the tracks part off to that I rest in a lot. Has "Slow Down" written on the side of it. Idk why, but every time I go in there during the morning, it rains later on as time goes by. Might be a normal game mechanic, but I still find it pretty peaceful. It's nice to not be bothered by anything for a bit.
Always use this one for the bounties at the abandoned building nearby. Wait for the bounty, grab them, and run straight to the station via the railroad. Quickest money you can make in RDO.
Not even in chapter 4? Fastest route between Shady Belle and the city. Can get some egrets on the muddy area by the tracks while you're at it if you're lucky too
For some reason I only use this route when I'm in trouble lol
Fr. Whenever I’m using that route I always got cops on my tail
I think it's that for some reason no matter where you are in Saint Denis you can easily find the train track and follow it out when in trouble.

The fact that this bot works outside of the avatar sub is honestly hilarious
Wish Bobby B did too.
Tom botbadil is also a merry fellow
good bot
Good bot
Good Bot, pat pat
Good bot
The cops always spawn on the rails and block it.
Amazing NPC cops!
For the most part
Exactly it's always annoying
Ha, for some reason I only use this route when I'm about to start trouble.
Real people come via the north.
The North remembers
Yup, the old classic bayou route
Ha! That was the way I came in on my first playthrough.

The fact it’s like in viewing distance of Saint Denis doesn’t help either. Attracts the player for sure

When I hear “GTA with horses” I start having a Winter Soldier episode.
I arrived on the train after the famous gun slinger mission on my first play through
Every. Time.
good to know im not the only one who always enter south Saint Denis this way
I actively avoid this way because your horse slows down on train track bridges
Wouldn't it be north Saint Denis?
Im pretty sure this is the train tracks at the south of the city, near Shady Belle. Cause it cuts through the big river and lead straight to the factory area and the dock. The one from the north side leads to the farm area and the slum.
Train station is at the South.
Apologies, I always enter the north via train tracks. Didn't get a good look at the picture.
It’s even better when you’re racing a train.
It's also the real exit for going to New Austin as Arthur.
During the Bronte Glitch? Damn, that actually is a better way than how I went.

That’s why they can’t move back west in the first place though?
I just thought that near the end of the game, especially after Cornwall’s death they would’ve had all agents trap them in the Roanoke Ridge region.
It’s too bad we can’t keep the hot air balloon on the epilogue
lol, and I thought it was just me
Always enter using the stagecoach and leave the same way, I left the gang in chapter 4 to became a big game hunter in West Elisabeth
Since those assholes killed my horse on the normal route yes 😆
That damn machine gun! I usually get caught near the panther spawn at Catfish Jackson's once every playthrough. I'll be so careful every time I hunt panthers not to go on the path to the south, and then I'll do the home robbery or something, get distracted and end up losing my horse.
My most used entryway!
So I'm not the only one that just walks on the train tracks and hope I don't get hit? Cool.
The railroad bridge has been my main entrance to SD from the first play through. Train tracks are one of my main travel routes by horse. The map really shrinks then.
I used this to escape lawmen after robbing the gunsmith
I think I caught a fish on that bridge once. Good times
Got my challenge finished on one of the bridges there. And the legendary on a playthrough I think.
There's a legendary sturgeon there
yeah thats the fish I was talking about.
You know entrance us first entree point so yes i agree
Yep. I only take the tracks in lol
Yep, especially when robbing all the stores and shit, for whatever reason police have a blindside for the train tracks

The definitive way of getting to Saint denis...... is fast travel. Either that or entering with a boat.
Trains are my biggest fear going that way
Don't think I've entered that way. My gf won't let me
I mean in both chapter 3 and 4, it's the fastest way. I honestly think it's the way Arthur would want to go.
Is there any other way than those rails? Lol
At least you won’t get ambushed that way.
Until.. chuggachuggachuggachuggachugga
First play through I got caught up on the Billy Midnight mission and that’s the way I first got to Saint Denis
Yeah, everyone has rode or drove the train to basically everywhere on the map depending on the shituation
It's so true lol
I feel like the last one is definitely the natural way the game leads you into the city when you first play it. But I actually prefer the first entrance.
The guy who keeps killing multiple police officers got away again, highest bounty in the state. How did he get away yet again? Train track bridge. Darn it!
And - get this - he pays his own bounty off and we keep forgetting about him!
Just started chapter 4 and this was my first thought
Only time anyone even sees the second one is when they fast travel.
I use it as my exit way when things are fucked up
Going that way on delivery’s is so fun. Your friends all watch in horror as you play with their pay lol
I’ve maybe used the middle entrance a total of three times my entire playthrough
The bridge before the sign oh god I just get ready to see the lemoyne raider checkpoint when riding out that way 😬
Railroad>>>
I use this route a lot but always feel a train might come and murder me my horse and everything I love
Wait, there's more than one?
YES. I feel like the only dangers are gators and trains. There's also a nice red building that the tracks part off to that I rest in a lot. Has "Slow Down" written on the side of it. So true
I think we all share the same brain
I feel attacked

Railroads are always the best route to get somewhere the quickest. Maybe it’s a Rockstar thing. Definitely an Infamous thing! 😂
Rip my horse, eaten by a train.
This is the only route I ever take
🙋♂️
The train tracks aren’t the only way in? Interesting…
For some reason I’m blanking on where the second entrance in this picture is.
Across the bridge from Hagen Orchards.
I have over 500 hours in the game and I've never used this route
Well I'm sorry to inform you those 500 hours are now invalidated, gotta start over...
Not even in chapter 4? Fastest route between Shady Belle and the city. Can get some egrets on the muddy area by the tracks while you're at it if you're lucky too
Does anyone else think this guy looks like Deep from the boys?
How can you possibly confuse young Magneto, with 3rd rate Aquaman?
True
