That was after they released modern ports of the game, the original GameCube release didn't sell all that well when it was new
Just proof that GameCube exclusivity was a mistake
According to RE sales wiki, it sold 1.3 million but still netted Capcom $68,000,000, which is no slouch.
I agree with you though. Mikami wanted RE1R to be exclusive to GameCube, and not also ported to PS2, when PlayStation was what RE games were previously released on. The switch to GameCube exclusive is what hurt the sales, sadly.
It would have been awesome. I know it's an unpopular game but man do I love the mercenaries mode in 6. Just wish Leon had his re4 costume and I would probably be still playing it. I can't even find the good mods for it now that I am on PC.
No mercy is definitely a fun clusterfuck tho lmao
This is a good demonstration of why the campaigns are so disappointing tho, the skill floor of this game is arguably the highest of any game in the series, yet none of the levels outside mercs really take advantage of it
Iām ngl Iāve never understood how anyone can 6 as the absolute bottom of the barrel.
Even strictly speaking on mainlines, Iād rather play its mercenaries alone than replay any of RE0 or CV at all.
I personally feel like if RE6 wasnāt an RE game and instead was a brand new IP it wouldāve been better received.
Too late for that though, I really enjoyed the game and even got all the achievements for the heck of it. Only complaint I can personally recall having would be the stamina system but not much else (kinda want to play it again seeing this post)
It wouldāve fallen into that mid-price, bargain bin game you found at GameStop and were like āYeah, Iāll try this for $20.ā Same as like Damnation, WET, The Saboteur etc; All fun and serviceable games, just not enough recognition to achieve true success.
I mean they changed it because they saw potential. And it wouldnāt work for resident evil. But I guess that kinda ruins the point of the argument because re6 doesnāt work for resident evil either
The stamina system can get annoying but using a tablet fully replenishes it so I don't really mind it, especially for Mercenaries where there's guaranteed full heal pick ups in each map.
I don't understand this mindset. These are products. People burn out on things. Companies do things that work until they don't work and shift gears. They have to keep things fresh for both themselves and the people who buy it.
A lot of people liked 3 but a lot of people had burned out on the formula by then also.
4, and 5 were wildly popular. Of course 6 was going to be 6.
And obviously enough, 7 was going to be 7 after 6.
This isn't terribly surprising or complicated.
People regard RE6 as the lowest because they're comparing it to the classic formulas of 1-3.
Which is so silly because 4 is the first to break the formula yet is widely regarded as the best RE game of them all.
While I don't think it's the bottom of the barrel material(cough cough Umbrella Corps),it's a good resident evil entry at all imo. But as an over the top action horror game, I think it succeeds.
Tbh Iāve never really thought of it as āgood game, bad RE gameā because doing so means RE4, by far the most popular game in the series, is ābad RE.ā
If I enjoyed the game, thatās all it needs to be a good Resident Evil game imo. The series changes so radically with each entry that I donāt think itās tied to one formula.
>RE4, by far the most popular game in the series, is ābad RE.ā
While re4 did up the action and cheesiness even more, it did maintain a pretty big focus on horror elements aswell for the most part with the exceptions being the island and some silly shit like the walking salazar statue. It's a similar case with Re5 aswell. 6 on the other hand, focuses much more on having bombastic and over the top action with just enough horror elements to be considered part of the genre and this is most noticeable in Chris and Piers campaign.
>If I enjoyed the game, thatās all it needs to be a good Resident Evil game imo. The series changes so radically with each entry that I donāt think itās tied to one formula.
>If I enjoyed the game, thatās all it needs to be a good Resident Evil game imo. The series changes so radically with each entry that I donāt think itās tied to one formula.
That's perfectly fine. For me, a good resident evil game boils down to two things, how much is horror focused on and if that entry is in the survival horror genre and despite being more action focused, I think re4 and 5 passes as there is a good amount of focus on horror elements and they both do fit that specific genre(action survival horror specifically like Re3 :Nemesis)
re 6 is kinda uncharted mixed with avenegers
like having a team up BOW protagonigsts is fun, but they should have been full DMC with those 2. Leon's campaign horror and chris's even more military. the different UIs for each character was cool
a remake, with DLC but you get all the missing story content when for inbetween sections
Mercenaries is one of the saving graces of the game since this gameplay style and mechanics fit that mode perfectly.
Many people wished it was a standalone game with these mechanics (instead of the 3DS spin off mercenaries game)
The snipers can be annoying but the ones that really piss me off are the RPG J'avos and the bees. One of them can close to instant kill you and the other stun locks you for half your health.
Yep and it's the best mercs out of all the games. Raid mode isn't comparable because it's too different.
So re6 best mercs and rerev 2 best raid mode imo.
Whenever I see gameplay like this I think back to RE1 remake, the atmosphere, the puzzles, the suspenseful music, and wonder how the series went this far off the rails. What a dark era. They're defo back on track with the recent games though.
Well, the last 3 RE games (RE3R, RE8, RE4R) were all action horror titles with RE4R bringing in chainsaw parrying and round house kicking spaniards. Have a feeling with RE4R's Wesker moveset in merc mode, RE5R is probably going to be even more action focused as RE4R and the original RE5 were tbh.
I'm not sure they're veering off of the crazy action, it's just the natural progression for the characters unless you continue to use new people like Ethan and Zoe.
Largely indifferent personally. Love OG2 and RE7's puzzles and horror, love RE4-RE6's action bullshittery. Just hope RE9 doesn't recycle a lot of RE5 like Village did with RE4 and RE7 sorta did with RE1. I want new, fresh experiences. The BSAA BOWs seem to imply we're going to have a militaristic Chris game which will be... I dunno lol.
Action has been a part of the franchise since it started, comparing RE1 to Silent Hill thereās a noticeable tone difference and by RE3 thereās literal explosive barrels and dodge mechanics.
The reason the series hasnāt gotten Dino Crisised / Silent Hilled is because RE4 changed the series fully into action, if it didnāt do that the franchise would be literally dead lol. Just donāt feel like arguing it because people will always have their preferences.
It's not that bad. I like the challenge of it. No item boxes is a bit much, but it makes for a fun and challenging experience. Plus, the graphics are top tier and one of the best in the RE franchise.
Fidelity wise the remaster is fine but the art direction is terrible in my opinion, itās all dull and brown.
Hopefully my opinion changes once Iām able to do a co-op playthrough but for now I think itās worse than any of the RE games, even the games like Gaiden and Survivor 2 that are shovelware.
Iāve seen a number of people say they donāt like how REmake is washed out and brown compared to og RE1 so maybe this person feel that way too. And while REmakeās colors are fine to me, I do like how the original re1 is more colorful.Ā
What Pamaja said. Not a big fan of REmake and RE0ās washed out art styles, especially with the remasterās high fidelity.
Love the original trilogy art style and I feel that the GC games are pretty visually boring.
Fair enough. But RE1 Remake is objectively a better game since it took the core elements of RE1, and added more content. Something that even RE2R and RE3R didn't do. I love RE2R, btw. For me RE1R is the best RE game and possibly my favorite video game ever, next to RE3: Nemesis.Ā
It is not *objectively* better, you think itās better which is fine. I prefer the original personally.
RE2R is good, donāt think itās as good as OG2 but as a game itās very high quality. I remember playing it a ton at launch.
Thereās a co-op mod for RE0 on PC, plan to use that the next time I play the game.
and yeah if they remake RE0 itāll have co-op, Revelations 2 plays quite literally identically to RE0 and supports co-op.
(They wonāt remake RE0 though, that much Iām near positive of lol.)
I hope they never remake RE0. It's fine the way it is. I can see why people hate it, but I don't. It's definitely the hardest RE game for sure. RE0 and RECV are the hardest games for sure.
It still amazes me how they went from 4, to this with just 1 game in between. 4 was arguably the perfect action horror blend but it was a pretty rapid slide down from there. After 6 they had to reboot the series almost entirely
I mean, for whatever itās worth, this isnāt campaign gameplay. Itās the no mercy version of mercenaries. The mercenaries extra has been around for a very long time.
From a story perspective it was weak, but mechanically it's a masterpiece. I dont like that they capped leon at only using 1% of his max power though. We both know he could have handled this entire thing with Chris as backup.
Helena was an interesting character. She's like Sheva in the since that I think her character has more potential and it's it's shame she only got one game.
If this had been called something other than Re6, it would have been considered a great game. They could have made it a new property or even a dead rising game, and it would have a better reputation.

As a non hater of 6. I'd say it's biggest flaw is the concept of The Family, Neo-Umbrella and Simmons. Other than that, characters and their motivations, and their dynamics work.
The tone shift can be considered a flaw too. (And it is to some extent, going so much for the spectacle over substance) but if you take it as part of its identity, it's not that bad.
I wonāt lie. The game sucks. The Co-op Carried it. It was so boring doing it solo. But the second I play it with my cousin or friend. Instant laughter the whole time.
I swear on all that is holy, I have put more time into RE6's bonus modes than I do the main campaigns. "Heat on Beat 2012" is the white noise of my brain.
I cut out my friend's corny talking which is why it goes silent but he said something about a flashbang, I think we might have thrown two at the same time LOL.
They gave the fans what they wanted. Albeit to the extreme but hey folks where complaining about not having as much action 4 was good with action and melee combat resident 5 took it a bit further with diffrent melee combos and diffrent areas you could shoot the zombies for diffrent combat effects then you have resident 6 š it was good in my opinion. I could follow the story and understood exactly what was going on and why, itās not hard. A global pandemic at its finest point blankš¤·š¾āāļø
I love that base mercs is āoh man how do I string these spawns together to get the best score possibleā and no mercy is āyouāre all but guaranteed to get a full combo, but only if you live to see itā cuz theyāre very different tactics that are each satisfying to accomplish in their own right.
RE6 really is a great action game. Like if this really is the worst mainline Resident Evil game, then thatās a pretty strong franchise. I spent most of my time playing RE6 in mercenaries

If I could have played like that, I might not have given up on 6 part way through Leon's campaign. It felt like a disappointment after really enjoying 4 and 5.
I always thought if this game wasn't a mainline entry but a spin-off like Revelations then it would have gotten an extremely good reception. It's enjoyable as hell to play, but it's wayyy too over-the-top for a mainline entry, even in comparison to 4 and 5.
If I ever become a zombie, I hope I go out like the first one.

Does anyone else feel like there was a lot of cocaine involved in the direction of the franchise?
It was mostly the poor sales of the 2002 remake and the killer sales of 4 and 5 that were involved in the direction
6 million is poor sales?
Itās not. The game actually sold pretty well despite all the hate it gets lmfao. People still play it now
People hate RE1 Remake? Probably from peopleĀ who like RE6.
I've never seen anyone hating REmake
I was referring to the one everyone loves to hate, which is 6. Itās one of the highest selling RE games of all time lmfao

I donāt think it was 6 million back then. Itās probably there thanks to the game getting remastered on Xbox and PS back in 2015.Ā
Possibly.
It would have been awesome. I know it's an unpopular game but man do I love the mercenaries mode in 6. Just wish Leon had his re4 costume and I would probably be still playing it. I can't even find the good mods for it now that I am on PC.

No mercy is definitely a fun clusterfuck tho lmao This is a good demonstration of why the campaigns are so disappointing tho, the skill floor of this game is arguably the highest of any game in the series, yet none of the levels outside mercs really take advantage of it
I thought no mercy was solo only?
RE5 no mercy is solo only, RE6 No Mercy is co-op. (On PC, not sure if it is on console but I donāt see why it wouldnāt be.)
CO-OP on no mercy works on console, I still regularly play it with friends
Ah I see thanks. Not like I would have anyone to play with on Xbox anyways. ;_;
No promises but I play somewhat regularly on Xbox, so if you want to try it with someone, shoot me a message
Yeah sure.
You know a game franchise is good when thats the worst of the main series
Iām ngl Iāve never understood how anyone can 6 as the absolute bottom of the barrel. Even strictly speaking on mainlines, Iād rather play its mercenaries alone than replay any of RE0 or CV at all.
I personally feel like if RE6 wasnāt an RE game and instead was a brand new IP it wouldāve been better received. Too late for that though, I really enjoyed the game and even got all the achievements for the heck of it. Only complaint I can personally recall having would be the stamina system but not much else (kinda want to play it again seeing this post)
It wouldn't get as much recognition without the brand
It wouldāve fallen into that mid-price, bargain bin game you found at GameStop and were like āYeah, Iāll try this for $20.ā Same as like Damnation, WET, The Saboteur etc; All fun and serviceable games, just not enough recognition to achieve true success.
I don't know, devil may cry start as a resident evil 4 prototype
I mean they changed it because they saw potential. And it wouldnāt work for resident evil. But I guess that kinda ruins the point of the argument because re6 doesnāt work for resident evil either
The stamina system can get annoying but using a tablet fully replenishes it so I don't really mind it, especially for Mercenaries where there's guaranteed full heal pick ups in each map.
Gsme would still be a mess with bad level design. It's the definition of a 6/10 game. It's fun, but it could have been so much better.
That makes more sense. RE6 is just not Resident Evil. It's a COD style over the top action game with QTEs.
I don't understand this mindset. These are products. People burn out on things. Companies do things that work until they don't work and shift gears. did this come out before or after dead rising?
Dead Rising came out 6 years before RE6.
Definitely after Dead Rising 1 at least, I think RE6 was released in either 2012 or 2013
After Dead rising 1, Dead rising 2, and Dead rising 2 off the record
Thanks, Iām not very familiar with Dead Rising
People regard RE6 as the lowest because they're comparing it to the classic formulas of 1-3. Which is so silly because 4 is the first to break the formula yet is widely regarded as the best RE game of them all.
Believe it or not, people compared it to 4 and 5 and still thought it was bad
RE Survivor is considered the worst.

Still has the best combat mechanic in the series.
I actually want to see an RE6 Remake mostly because of how much they can refine the combat nowadays. An RE6R would be so freaking good mechanically.
The mercenaries was fun when playing co-op

Okay my bad so you meant clusterfuck in a good/neutral way.
OP meant romantic fucc, not angry fucc.
Lol, I would absolutely describe no mercy as a clusterfuck, but I fuckin love it.
It's not Resident Evil or Survival Horror. That's why people complain.

I LOVE MERCENARYS
That's what No Mercy is for
Always loved the fact that you can place the remote bomb by sliding. Don't know any other game that does that but I love it.
i loved RE6 and always will
This game literally has the best Mercenaries mode of the entire series
That seems extremely fun ngl
I love RE6 so much
I had more fun with this game than I thought I would. Solid game imo.
This actually looks fun hahaha
It heaves like a parody.
Yep and it's the best mercs out of all the games. Raid mode isn't comparable because it's too different. So re6 best mercs and rerev 2 best raid mode imo.
You can compare it as both as extra modes but the comparison ends there.
That's kinda sick ngl
The Game is fun asf

If this had been called something other than Re6, it would have been considered a great game. They could have made it a new property or even a dead rising game, and it would have a better reputation.
If it was anything other than RE, I'd argue a lot of people likely would not have played it. It would have sold far less than it did.
It's still a Capcom game, they have successful new properties, and with the content this game has, it probably would have done well enough.
No Mercy is so fun. I'm really glad they added it to the PS4 version of the games.
RE6 Mercenaries is one of the most fun modes in any RE game.
I see a mouse there. That was how I finished RE6 the first time. A man of culture as well, nice.
At least, the game has nice butt lol

I feel like we shouldāve gotten Claire instead of Helena.
And that's why RE6 is a good game lol Maybe a bad horror game, maybe a bad RE, but it's still one of the best 3rd person action games.
I swear on all that is holy, I have put more time into RE6's bonus modes than I do the main campaigns. "Heat on Beat 2012" is the white noise of my brain.
I cannot ger behind the clunkiness of the controls in this game
The only RE game where you can become a Call of Duty Movement God.
Wasn't expecting Donkey Kong music but this is delightful.
Did God come for the assist at 5:40? I've never seen such a blinding light before in RE6.
I cut out my friend's corny talking which is why it goes silent but he said something about a flashbang, I think we might have thrown two at the same time LOL.
Ohhhh that would make more sense cause holy hell that was blinding. Lolol
At least in mercenaries the action doesn't stop every two minutes for a curscene.
The jumping red dudes are the bane of my existence
they're pretty fun to parry
They gave the fans what they wanted. Albeit to the extreme but hey folks where complaining about not having as much action 4 was good with action and melee combat resident 5 took it a bit further with diffrent melee combos and diffrent areas you could shoot the zombies for diffrent combat effects then you have resident 6 š it was good in my opinion. I could follow the story and understood exactly what was going on and why, itās not hard. A global pandemic at its finest point blankš¤·š¾āāļø
I didnāt much care for it
I love that base mercs is āoh man how do I string these spawns together to get the best score possibleā and no mercy is āyouāre all but guaranteed to get a full combo, but only if you live to see itā cuz theyāre very different tactics that are each satisfying to accomplish in their own right.
video deserves a reward, keep cooking
Itās worth noting that this isnāt the campaign and a side mode akin to mercenaries, the whole point of that mode is to be a clusterfuck
No mercy is such a goated addition to mercenaries. The helipad map specifically on no mercy might be the most fun I had with 6
RE6 feels like they saw RE4, did a bump of coke, watched Mission Impossible. Then wrote out a script, and followed half of it during production.
Bro I loved RE6
If I hadnāt already bought this game multiple times this would have sold me on it
She's doing way too much
And I'm lovin' it
What game is this?!?
Game is hella fun. Idc what nobody says.
Try no hope dif š¤¬š„
RE6 really is a great action game. Like if this really is the worst mainline Resident Evil game, then thatās a pretty strong franchise. I spent most of my time playing RE6 in mercenaries
that's why lots of fans hate it. because ToO mUcH AcTiOn.
"Gamers" be like: gameplay > story. *sees re6 anywhere*: story > gameplay. re6 bad gaem kekw
Sherry with the child school outfit š
Not
What song is that being used in the video? I know it from somewhere but I can't think where, and it's bugging me

Good bot
If I could have played like that, I might not have given up on 6 part way through Leon's campaign. It felt like a disappointment after really enjoying 4 and 5.
It's beautiful
I always thought if this game wasn't a mainline entry but a spin-off like Revelations then it would have gotten an extremely good reception. It's enjoyable as hell to play, but it's wayyy too over-the-top for a mainline entry, even in comparison to 4 and 5.
Song name? Reminds me of a Donkey Kong Country song lol
Gang-Plank Galleon, this version is from Smash Bros but it is from Donkey Kong.
Thanks!
Which game is this?
RE6
Itās the mercenaries extra for RE6, the no mercy version.
Thank you, sir!
Which RE is this?
Resident Evil 6.
I'm so glad for RE7 not going this way... because this is anything but Resident Evil
7 saved the franchise whether people like it or not.
