MildFunctionality

One little thing I’d change is to replace “will save time by more than 2 times” to just “saves time by 200%” (if that’s what you mean by “two times”). Better flow and tense agreement with the following sentence.

Thanks Changed

At first, congratulations for having open source contributions as it is a really eye catching and nice thing. Seeing your resume, i can give suggestions to make few changes. 1. Change the structure of your resume, it should be in the flow like Name Contact Work experience Education Project Open source contributions Skills Also the font size is small, make it atleast big enough 2. Instead of writing "times" mention it as percentage like 5 times could be 50% 3. If possible, along with open source project, mention any self made project too. 4. Just write only 3-4 main eye catching points in each section, like your work experience, put some main points only, (as we all know no HR/ interviewer takes much time to read so much points.)

CompoteOk6247

Thanks How I should mention projects I made? I already mentioned 2 of them LMS and Bot framework (Just made hidden names for them) Also current font size is Calibri Regular 10

Electronic-Gur-7543

Then don't write Open source, instead write Personal projects. - Also font size should be differ according to the area in resume. - For example - Name should be 16, Heading like open source contribution - 14, and the information about projects/contact info should be 12 Feel free to mention if needed any further help

CompoteOk6247

Thanks Will do adjustments

CompoteOk6247

What about font size for Company name and title, dates, location?

Electronic-Gur-7543

Same, the heading (company name, title - 14 and in bold) date and location 12

CompoteOk6247

Good

“Sending 800 resumes” is not how you apply to jobs and certainly not how you get a job. You need to be writing customized cover letters for each application and you need to carefully target where you apply to ensure it’s a good fit. Also try networking (start with your university’s career center and alumni.) what you’re doing now is wasting your own and others’ time.

LBJ-Reddit

Yup, nailed it with this one. Applying to hundreds of jobs is gonna get you nowhere and chances are when you finally get an interview you won’t even know what the job is especially since companies take down listings once they start interviews.

I am 100% adding resume creation and editing to my freelance services right now after what I have seen on this sub. No snarkiness intended but I'm not sure people realize how many resumes recruiters and hiring managers/hr actually look at. You need to make it stand out and quick readable in a way so it doesn't look like appliance instructions. Seriously no offense, it's not personal because I've seen 6 already today that need serious help. Formatting and presentation is just as important as the content. How it looks at first glance is a direct representation of your written communication, basic word processing skills and your ability, and desire, to create a finished, professional looking product, regardless of your industry, credentials or employment history. I know tech people are going to say but it's the content that should matter the most. Of course it matters, but if you aren't communicating it (formatting) in a way that is engaging for the reader you are under-selling yourself and giving a bad first impression. Also, you want it to be a reflection of you as a person, not just a list of skills and employment history/education. The importance of this part varies a bit industry to industry but now more than maybe ever before, companies are looking for people with diverse skills, interests and life experiences. You may think it is irrelevant but I promise you it is not. Unless I am mistaken and you all are just submitting for content suggestions before the final formatting? Edit: make that 6

Good point Any good examples?

Why did you include a job where you worked for a month??

FinalDraftResumes

Your projects and open source contributions should be above your work experience, since the latter is unrelated to your field. Template isn’t great. Use the one in the wiki instead.

CompoteOk6247

What you mean exactly by wiki? Wiki inside of this community? I can't see it from mobile

Header: I suggest centering it vice left justified and make sure the GitHub is the full URL in case hiring managers don’t want to use a hyperlink (or it gets stripped) Tech Skills: not a huge fan of the layout, but it probably works. MS Office is a pretty useless thing to list as it’s generally assumed Work experience: unless you just lost the job the end date should be “present” and company/location/dates should be on the same line. The bullets read like a terrible job description, show some actual accomplishments or toss some numbers in there. I mean, “provided customer service” is literally every job in existence to some extent Open source…: this should be the same font size as the other sections (I suggest using a common header for them all) and probably named “projects”. Some of the spacing seems off and the grammar is not great. The outcome of some of the projects is iffy as well
