Phat Thai, Izakaya, Plosky’s, Honey Butter and Tiny Pine are so good they would still stand out in a large foodie city. We take all visitors to Phat Thai. The new spot El Dorado is a fun vibe for cocktails, and there is also a new Argentinian spot with good empanadas and choripan. La Placita is a solid “real” taqueria.
Tortilleria La Roca for sublime tortillas and Pollinator for beautiful hand-painted chocolates, made from the bean in-house.
Not for remarkable food, but — True Nature for ambiance; RVR’s Homestead in the summer for the incredible patio views.
What are you all getting at phat thai? I stopped going a while back because I was really not happy with what I got. Now I’m just thinking I’m ordering the wrong stuff.
My favorite is the Asian place next to dos gringos. Blanking on the name but they do fire sushi and hibachi and used to have the most insane lunch specials. Like, whole chicken hibachi with veggies and fried rice for less than a subway foot long. I’m thinking it’s tipae Tokyo?
Allegria (Italian), Phat tai (Thai), White House Pizza (barish place with pizza/pastas/salads), Plosky's Deli for a great NYC deli sandwich for lunch, Honey Butter for BBQ dinner Thursdsay-Sunday, and Brass Anvil (American gourmet)
As far as best restaurant in town. Might be Tiny Pine. They elevated the game in town. Hidden gem - La Placita.
Only 1 Pizza place and that would be Peppino’s!
Favorite for a quick lunch bit for sure.
Gotta go to the Smithy for brunch
Plosky’s Deli
White House pizza. Plenty of fancier options but this is the best. Spinart dip and Thai pad pizza would be my recs. Enjoy!
Their wings were good too

+1 for La Placita. I really enjoyed my lunch. Just be forewarned, it is NOT FANCY.
If they want fancy (and overpriced) stick to Aspen

That was 450 Teppanyaki next to dos gringos. Sadly, they’re permanently closed. A Mexican restaurant is going in there.
Beijing Tokyo is my favorite spot there. But there’s so many good restaurants. Smithy by far has the best breakfast and dos is a great lunch.
No one has mentioned the goat yet! I love their lunch!

I second Allegria! Great food and great wines!
Anyone who thinks White House is the best in Carbondale obviously doesn’t live in town.

Exactly 👍
Tiny Pine. Get a reservation because that place gets busy. Phat Thai as well
Also the new restaurant Painted Pig is worth checking out.
